Captain America was surprisingly good. I thought they did a great job overall, and I can’t think of much that could have been better. I am SO GLAD they didn’t have the “struggling with being a hero” garbage that 98% of comic movies have. That shit is tired, they need to stop doing it. I don’t go to the movies to watch some grown man feel sorry for himself for 45 minutes. Captain America won’t win an oscar, but it was fun to watch him kick the shit out of everyone. Captain America’s testicular fortitude was what won WW2.
the need to get the horny/geeky teenager identify himself with most action heroes is pretty lame. You can’t get decent proper heroes acknowledging their responsibilities, it’s usually the random guy who didn’t want to be a hero in the first place
For most of the characters in Marvel, it kinda makes sense though. Spidey, mutants, the list goes on and on, filled with characters that fit that mold. Cap never was though. In the comics, he always always was a badass. Didn’t matter if he was fighting a nazi, the Red Skull, or IG wielding Thanos, he stood his ground and got the job done.
Im glad they made him like that. Can’t wait to see this movie. I heard there is almost no point to seeing it in 3D though.
Doesn’t Magneto still have Thors hammer, in Ultimate???
I am waiting for Tony to bust a lugnut trying to lift it, and Cap/Hulk lifting it in Avengers
And my opinion is FAAAAAANTASTIC.
Lot of jumping around and shield throwing. They definitely gave him the Cap feel. And I also like the 40s vintage feel of the whole movie.
Annoying asians that talk a lot are stupid though.
I think he’s referring to the chill Asian dude in the company.
I enjoyed the movie, it had reasonable pacing. Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter) was perfectly casted. People forget this is the 1940s when women actually had meat on their bones and could fill a dress instead of the dress filling them. Yes, she was the right kind of hot.
Steve Rogers had enough flaws to identify with and enough grit to root him on when he was on his missions. My only slight gripe was that I wanted a real mano e mano brawl between him and Red Skull showing the peak of their abilities; but the way it was handled felt realistic to the story and events.
And I have a theory:
Fall In!

I think all those soldiers shot by the beam weapons didn’t disintegrate but were teleported to some place, along with Red Skull. This is why the cosmic cube was also linked with the “Many Worlds” tree.
Cap was awesome!!! the 40’s was done very nice and just the whole movie was great. Hugo hats off cause Red Skull was incredible.
I have not one bad thing to say about the movie, the attention to detail was spectacular. Avengers trailer= dat hype!!
Chris Evans did a great job, Im going to see cap again fuck it!!! 8.9/10!!!
It certainly helps that Cap wanted to be a somebody. Like he wanted to fight for his country, he volunteered for the program, he wanted to kick ass and take names. Most other Marvel Super Heroes have these powers thrust upon them. Cap asked for em. Half of what makes him fuckin awesome lol.
Saw it this afternoon, pretty good. People have been comparing it to Iron Man and I think they’re about even, if different. I liked Cap/Rogers a character more than Stark, so I’m biased in favor of this movie.
Film was directed by the same guy who did The Rocketeer, and it feels that way. I always thought that was a great choice for a director, glad it worked out.
No need to hang out after the credits. It’s a brief, shitty Avengers movie trailer which is probably already on YouTube. It actually drags down the quality of the movie, because it’s much less interesting than the ending.
Ending is going to confuse a few people;

Spoiler
Nick Fury said he’d been “asleep” instead of in a coma etc, so I think people who don’t know anything about comics or the character may be thinking that some of what happened was a dream sequence.
Red Skull was OK, would have liked him to look a bit more gruesome. And he was pretty evil, but…I don’t know. Not quite mastermind-y enough. Also, when he was facing off with Cap,
Red Skull
Spoiler
I thought it would have been good to have him point out how close Cap was to Hitler’s ideal of the superior race, even compared to RS. Would have been to needle Cap, and also is worth pointing out. Though perhaps it would confuse the tone of the scene.
That chick in the movie. I loved her. She was great. Tommy Lee Jones was great. Chris Evans was great, and I liked how much time they spent with pre-transformation Cap instead of rushing into it.
My only issue with the movie was the very weird action scenes. Especially that mission collage near the middle. It felt really random and somehow kind of dull. It wasn’t BAD, just not as exciting as I would have hoped. I understand it was just basically saying “shit happens, trust is built, battles are won”, but even so.
The effects were also very weird. Like the entire movie felt like that old school effect where they have a stationary car in front of a filmed background to make it seem like someone is driving. Pretty much every action scene felt this way.
Well, I only complained, but I did like the movie overall. I didn’t have high expectations, and it was actually better than I hoped.
