Firmware 2.70 - How it helps tournaments

I just checked and the Mad Catz sticks still can’t turn on the system and they are still not backwards compatible… I hope this gets done soon!

Xbox users have to face the fact that they can only use first party products every day, so crying a river because your obscure chinese adapter doesnt work is rather trivial.

My pelican and radioshack adapters work fine though.

Maybe it’s time they switched to a PS3 to experience the obscure Chinese adapter and know first hand why we cry a river.

But jerk-ness aside, I’d probably prefer a first-party product only because I assume it would be reliable and not have issues such as these.

Well my converter came in the mail today… but so did this firmware updating nonsense so… what I’m trying to get at is if I install this will I not be able to use my converter?? Would hate to see that…

Well, I dunno about you guys, but after I got this firmware, I wasn’t able to get my SFIV downloadable content. The costumes, for some reason… they fail to download when the game starts.

Redownload it from your PSN store via “download list” if you downloaded it/bought it yourself. If not, you’ll have to log onto your trader’s account again to reactivate them

I wasn’t aware you should unplug all adaptors before installing updates… Mine seems fine still though, thank christ!

And yeah… Love the new txt chat…And now I wanna be part of a tourney

Correct me if I am wrong (I haven’t tried the feature yet), but one thing to consider here is that it actually might hurt matches for the 2nd player. If players are chatting during a match the 2nd player will have messages over his life bar all the time. I have lost a few matches because I didn’t know how much life I had left after 2+ msg in a row (this was on the old system, two friends logging in at the same time.)

One annoying thing i found about this text chat last night when trying it out with a friend, was that a lot of words are censored. ok … some are obvious if they want to censor, but try typing akuma in there: it comes out as a***a because it replaces all “dirty” words with a C so you also can’t write them with a K. very very annoying. is there a way to turn this off ?

To my knowledge, it’s not possible to turn it off. I also find this problem very very annoying - it, in fact, censors a lot of words that aren’t even ‘dirty’, or whatsoever.

All they should censor are the mains, fuck, shit, bitch, ass, faggot, and cunt. Everything else should be fair game.

It may be possible to turn off the censoring, but I’m not sure. The default setting for PSN accounts is to have chat restrictions on, so go to your Account Management and turn them off.

is it safe to download the 2.70 yet?

God and Jesus are banned, yet Allah and Mohammed are not lol… I’m just lolling at the lack of logic their…

lol, wtf Horse is banned XD

so i updated and didn’t care annd as of 11 hours ago… i can’t see my friends list. i can still play online and whatever but i don’t get the updates that any of my friends signed on or off for that matter. help if u got some knowledge! might have to make this a seperate topic but it happened after i got the 2.7… granted it took a coupla days.

Wow. This is news to me. Time to update.

Brings me back to the days of playing Phantasy Star Online for Dreamcast. Language censor in that game was so wonky; it wouldn’t allow you to say “shoes” or “Saturday”, but you could say “ass”, as long as you put a period after it(this didn’t work for any other censored words).

I just wanna know, what’s the limit of friends on the PSN? 100? 150? Noob question but I must know, and Google only finds old links.

The friends limit on PSN is 100.

Yes, PSO kept you from saying shoes because it has “hoes” in it. Also, you couldn’t say “Ano Rifle”, the name of one of the rare rifles in the game because “ano” means “anal” in some other language.
