meh, i wouldn’t worry about it. you are safe
Lol thanks dude. But better safe then sorry. Some might call it paranoid. But shit happens
My past boss had a high intensity flashlight along with his glock for home protection, even during the day, the light could temporary blind you, at night it would be enough to do the gun’s job. I’ll probably get one of those as well.
yeah, like they say… shit happens, then you die. then what?
I really don’t care to get into another srk gun debate. Don’t feed or bait the trolls.
I think I heard of those. Where the lights so bright it can cook meat. Maybe something else. But still sounds cool
Ight. Good looking out. I didn’t realize it was such a sore subject. Most people on here seem pretty cool.
Eh, part time gunsmith here. Journeyman status for ArmaLite Model 15’s, so i can build and modify AR-15’s for various builds and uses. Have some experience with AR-10’s as well as AK-pattern rifles. I say “pattern” simply because there are so many variants across the world, its insane. Most of my experience comes from Russian VEPR’s, Polish and Bulgarian AK’s. Plenty of experience working with various brand of handguns with different manual of arms.
While I can answer questions about firearms, I dont think SRK is the best place for this sorta thing. Not only does stuff vary from state to state concerning ownership as well as local laws, you have ignorant fuckheads who will ruin it because they dont know any better. Or they just wanna troll.
I mean, the latter is already happening. I aint about to jump into whats legal, whats not legal, fuck that. Just general firearm knowledge. Ill stick around to see where this goes, but i aint estatic about it lasting long.
What ever happened to all the custom Desert Eagle’s that I saw back in 08’ All kinds of different finishes and I think you could personalize the slide/grip/etc. I had a throbbing boner for a blueish gold eagle.
wheren’t they just a fad?
I mean, that is possible the most pointless and disgusting handgun out there. It’s like the white man’s version of this
A .50ae would be so goddamn expensive to shoot that owning one would be a mixed bag at best.
Magnum Research (the importer) AFAIK still does those crazy finishes, not IWI where the DE comes from. They still do them since right now they are offering a cheetah print DE.
That being said, if you have never fired a DE, do yourself a favor and shoot one first. See if your wrists are begging for mercy after 3 - 4 rounds. Now im talking a DE chambered in .50AE. If you really want a DE, you get it in .50AE. Thats the original caliber for which it was designed for.
I personally think its the most impratical production handgun made, but if you want it to collect it, thats understandable.
EDIT #1 - @PresidentCamacho gets it.
Seems like it’d be a badass gun to have. Just super hard to be accurate with. I might get one of the come ones one day. But I heard the finish gets blue if you fire it too much which defeats the purpose if you ask me. I’m from Texas so I don’t think we have much to worry about when it comes to the laws down here thank god. The right to bear arms is important to us down here when our history has so much to do with independence not trying to troll just my two cents. Now the ar10, 305 round have you heard much about that gum failing due to poor design? My step father wants one. Also what do u think of the ptr 91?
LOL, I’d probably fire it a few times, break my wrist and then make a case for it to hang on the wall as a center piece.
Lol yeh me two. But the gun has probably served some use for someone in Israel I’d assume. So it may have been practical somewhere
IDK, it seems impractical imo. I guess it’s an “experience” sort of like a elephant gun at the range. LOL, but im not a collector type of dude. I like functional items.
PTR91 is a glorious rifle. It uses a lot of the equipment HnK used to develop the G3 rifle.
It’s accurate, but a bit light for my tastes, M1A1 type of dude. But it’s definetly a nice .308 to have. It’s more functional and easy to use than the M1a1 that’s designed with long range in mind due to the sight set up. A good equivalent is those Navy M1A1 polymer rifles. About as light, and almost as easy to use. I’m sure they went up in price though. They used to sell for 981$, but that was 2-3 years ago in California.
PTR91? I think thats the american variant of H&K’s G3 and shoots 7.62 NATO IIRC. Not too familiar with its manual of arms, which if its like H&K’s, its a roller-delayed blowback action which is reknown to be extremely reliable in harsh environments. The 7.62 NATO cartridge is a very accurate cartridge if you get a respectable manufacturer making them or if they are NATO rounds. Capable of 1MOA or less IIRC. Should be a good if not great rifle, i just dont know too much about it.
As for the finish getting blue from firing, what finish is it? Ive never heard of that. As for the AR-10, the ones i have worked on/with, ive never had any issues with reliability. Apparently using FAL mags prevents feeding issues but i havent tested this myself.
EDIT - @pedoviejo confirmed what little i did know about the PTR91.
The titanium? I know it changes colors to blue on a lot of applications like automotive exhausts and headers.
Walmart selling these yet? Cause you know it could be really useful for neighbour hood watch purposes.
