Finally! Made it to G1

Congrats dude!

Agreed.

Agreed x2.

Finally made it to G1. I can’t believe what a grindfest that was.

My first G1 match was a loss against a 58K-point Ryu, who was surprisingly competent and patient. After that I went on to win my first G1 ‘Championship’ against an assortment of pretty mediocre players (including a 48K Sagat whom I beat with Honda…O_O), and it didn’t feel much different from G2, in all honesty.

I think I’ll stop playing CM from now on. I simply can’t stand the grind. It baffles me how people can get to 55K+ points. 15K took forever for me, and most of these people aren’t much better than me (if at all). They must play SFIV online for 10 hours a day and as much as I enjoy playing, that’s simply too much. I must be getting old.

I’m still stuck in G3.

Whenever i get to the G3 Final i choke.

Im GS, trust me not worth it find good people to play against and play them alot and find there friends who are good.

If you keep winning G1 final matches, I think they’re over 200 points. The grind is about the same but… yeah still rage quitters in G1. It’s hilarious.

I came 1st in g3 3 times and I did’nt rank up,whats going on?any ways yeah its a shit load of ryus, kens, and giefs.but whats worse is palying el fuerte with lag…its almost impossible to win.

I gave up on championship. Once I hit g3-a the time between matches started to irritate me. Nobody really plays championship anymore. So instead I say to hell with it and go back to ranked or a player match.

Congrats on making it to G1. I made it there about 6 months ago. You will realize that G1 is considerably more difficult than G2 mainly because if you get there, even if you suck, you still play enough to know all the tricks and shenanigans.

When I first got to G1 last week I went like 8 for 10 matches, making it to the finals twice. Everyone was patient, no one mashed out during blockstrings (maybe it was just the lack of shotos), and I don’t think I saw a single repeat character. There was a Viper, a Rufus, and I think even a Rose… man! I was pretty stoked, thought that for once I could get some legitimate training online. Could this be too good to be true?

Apparently. The next day I signed in and it seemed like every other match was vs. Ryu. MMm fun times. I think most of the Ken players I’ve met are on par with Rank Mode/G3 except, as someone mentioned, they just do more shit in general haha.

No excuses, I’ve still got a long way to go, but it’s nice to be able to play a wakeup game that consists of more than: block. Even those wins are frustrating, especially when you’re trying to comprehend how some of these twats have 50K+ GP. I mean I still consider myself a scrub, but shit… playing online just makes me lose faith in humanity sometimes.

@ two posts above: trying playing in arcade request mode. I had that problem but now I can’t go 30 seconds without finding a match.

I made G1 2-3 months ago. I played about a dozen matches and realized I needed to beef up my play. I’ve started playing CM again, and it’s not much better. Yes, the comp in Ranked is not that good, but I also notice that connections in CM are much worse: 4 bars in CM is about equivalent to 3 bars in Ranked. And the people in CM mode thrive on that. As for “variety”… Well, on some nights perhaps (if you can 1 or 2 different characters sandwiched in between 4-5 Ryus).

But most nights get prepared to be harassed by an onslaught of Turtle Ryus and TU spamming Sagats.
