Not to brag(well actually that’s exactly what I’m doing) but if you look through both the Evil Ryu and Yun USF4 threads you can find me saying that both characters were going to be very good when a lot of others said they were getting worse and I was hyping red focus for both before it became a bigger thing(not saying I was the first though). Although Yun will be even better in the final build, he was already seemingly top tier before he got invincibility back on his HK upkick which is what Kazunoko has been playing without in the arcade right now.

people need to stfu with the “you’re tier whoring” bs. Who gives a damn? Almost all of you were ready to drop the character. Half of you thought the character was mid tier in 2012, now you want to come on here and say he is top 10 in ae2012.

Only when Jpn said Yun is strong is when y’all came back acting like you were all on board the USF4 Yun train. The only people that can call anyone out for tier whoring is rice_eater, and julio(i forget his srk name). Everyone else was about to drop the character.

Let people pick who they want to pick. And hopefully they share their curbstomping strats.

I said he was top 10 in AE2012, way way way way back, and some of the people praising him now were shit talking me lol. I kept switching back and forth between him and Cammy as a secondary, cause well. Bison is my main and Cammy gets the job done better (Guile), but Yun (and Yang but fuck using Yang in laggy matches) is more fun to use. I even went Akuma, but again he’s not fun after about a month. I don’t care if it’s to cover my bad matches I’ll try to “tier whore”. The only thing I dislike is when people tier whore and deny it.
Some dude even brought out a list of people that dropped him like that was to make a difference… The thing is the people in that stupid list, are still using him.

I said I thought I’d drop Yun but I never really meant it. I’m overall happy with the changes but I don’t like the cross up kick or lunge punch +1 even though I suggested it. I just don’t think it goes with Yun. Yun isn’t really about crossups but rather caging your opponent. The only buff I really wanted was his dive kick to be with no height restriction and normal landing frames. I envy the Rufus dive kick.

  1. Tier whoring shouldn’t bother you as long as you still kick ass with your character.
  2. There won’t be a yun army anyway, the only yun I’ve even heard about in ultra is kazunoko and it’ll probably stay that way.

The only reason there’s apparently an evil ryu army (even that’s debatable) is because he’s now just a better version of ryu, so a ton of ryu mains are making the switch. No character in the game has seen enough change to create an army, for the most part every single character will play the same.

On topic though, what the hell is with the divekick nerf? Taking 4 frames away means the already easy to interrupt divekick will be even easier to interrupt. And of course rufus keeps his perfect divekick.
Also, what use do we get from a +1 ex lunge? I had no fear using it at -1 anyway because of how safe it was and because you could just use upkicks after it to beat out most attacks. Is there some new trick we can pull off or is it a pretty useless buff?

It’s not the divekick that got nerfed - it’s his regular jump in MK.

If you can’t see how much better +1 is over -1 then you got some work to do.

Also if Yun’s dive kick had 10f of recovery I would laugh my ass off. It’s nj.MK and j.MK. Hardly a nerf, really - more of an adjustment since it will cross-up now for some reason…

Its a nerf, go test it out against anti dive kick normals. Try doing it early and doing it late. You will see the diff.

Also Rufus wishes he had the amount of options Yun has. Giving Yun, Rufus’s dk, would break the character. Rufus needs his dk more so than Yun.

Granted you can use the same options in the first example but you are taking a greater risk. With the second one you have more control of the situation and can easily pick and choose what you want to do.

Uh, isn’t diagonal j.mk his divekick? His regular j.mk lost active frames yes but so did his divekick.

And to the breaker, yes, it is a nerf. I dunno about you but it’s quite easy for my divekicks to be interrupted when someone is anticipating it or waiting for it. There are plenty of normals that beat out divekicks already, imagine it with 4 frames instead of 8, that’s a pretty big difference. It most definitely is a nerf, there will be easier ways to beat it out which is worrying as it’s already easy to beat out.

Obviously I get why it was done, yuns a rushdown character and he’s getting buffs in ultra so his offense needs to be tamed a little, but the changes are so random.

I would easily take back those 4 frames in exchange for the crossup and the regular j.mk crossup.

I mean come on, have any of you EVER seen anyone reguest a better crossup for mk divekick and a better crossup for regular j.mk? I’ve been around yun change forums since people were talking about the “2013” update and if I did see these they were clearly extremely unpopular suggestions so I don’t get it.

Can’t wait for the yun change video to hear combofiend try and explain why he has these changes.

his dive kick didn’t lose frames… that would make it entirely useless unless you hit them at the ankles lol

“diagonal jumping MK” just means jump + forward, or jump + back.
If he meant dive kick he would have said “Raigeki Shu”
