Really, really, looking forward to this game alot, and I cannot wait to play Squall and Sephiroth in this game. Seph was quite trashy in Ergheiz, so here’s to hoping that he’s solid in here.
Gameplay so far doesn’t seem to look like it’ll require a whole lot of execution from what I’ve seen. Lastly, I really wished that this would of either made it to the new gen consoles, or at least the PS2…this means I’ll have to actually buy a PSP now.
Lol at Ultimecia freezing time in that video with Squall…that’s elite-tier for you
Ps: Can anyone post up a better shot of the Villain Poster…the only characters I can really tell are Chaos, Ultimecia, Garland and Sephiroth…that’s it, the rest are all way too blurry for me. Lastly, I agree with one statement from somewhere that the villains are positioned within the form of the Qliphoth, or the Tree of Death, in contrast to the Tree of Life, which when you look at it, makes perfect sense.
Thanks, I would have never, ever picked out Kefka or Ex Death in there, thanks for the labeling of the antagonist names, and it’s definitely in the form of the Qliphoth Death Tree.
Some amazing stage design going on there. I’m still kinda worried about the lack of defensive options other than keepaway, though. I hope to see more videos showcasing some of this system’s potential.
Not bad, I guess I was hoping that the gameplay would involve more execution, however as someone commented, it closely resembles alot of KH on crack without a doubt. I do agree, some more defensive options besides running away would be nice, and are they really going to have those X-options…??? It seems like Tidus was avoiding getting super or something by pressing X to avoid the attacks…or am I wrong?
Anyhow, this game still looks fun as hell, and the fact that they have arguably the greatest host of cast characters from many FF games put together to duke it out is simply too good. My only gripe with this is that I had wished it would of made a PS2 port instead of on the PSP.
There is a decent writeup of the game’s mechanics and movelists for some characters here.
tl;dr characters have both Brave Points and Hit Points. “Supplementary Attacks” done with Circle build up your Brave and reduce the opponent’s, whereas HP Attacks done with Square hurt their HP directly. Brave Points are used in HP attacks, so a basic combo would be a bunch of Brave attacks and a HP attack finish. Triangle lets you run up walls and shit, X is jump, R is Guard and L will toggle lock-on. EX-Force is bascially the super meter, R+Square when full will trigger EX mode in which you can then use your big EX-burst super move.
There are two control modes as well. Easy is, well, easy, whereas Hard mode has a different moveset, is a little more position-based but there’s more to work with. hth.
