You said the quote wrong btw if im correct…
I well might have, I couldn’t find the track anywhere online, and I can’t find the CD now. (live Chronicles)
Just to be clear, I don’t hate on geek culture at all, but people shouldn’t try to fake being what they’re not, which is why people find the kids copying Yipes annoying.
Sent from my Radar 4G using Board Express
I Hate ‘Get Hype’ or ‘So Hype’ that wasn’t around in the CvS2 Days
anyways I pretty much enjoy FGC lingo… however IWC lingo (Face, Heel, Kayfabe, Work, Shoot, Blade Job, Screwjob, Promo, Job, put over, x-pac heat, Midcard, Benoit etc.) still remains my favorite, the Comic Book Community (Retcon, Khazan, Blitz, PIS, CIS, Reboot, Class 100, FTL speed, omnipotent) ties with the FGC lingo
The geek/nerd insults? Did I go back in time to the 80s?
Scrub - just sounds annoying and I still don’t know what it means
Salty - if I hear one more person say that I will throw them into the chaos dimension.
Also the “f word” does not mean gay.
This sentence alone won this thread.
Though I feel like the problem with swag is overuse, especially in the FGC. After watching UFGT8 this weekend, that one motherfucker who called everything swag (even fucking Wolverine combos) pissed me the fuck off.
That sounds kinda sexy
So, if I ask you to give an example of a meta-game, what do you point to?
My problem isn’t the terms/phrases its that nothing ever dies anymore. There used to be new phrases around here every other week, its the northeast. In the last 4 years absolutely no phrases in the FGC have died. They get used, then overused for 6-12 month and than after their already dead someone slaps it on a T shirt.
Let these things die, new things will take their place, thats how catchy phrases work.
8.95 Tech and in the lab. everything else is fine.
Anything Max says. Don’t get me wrong the guy has done a pretty good job promoting a bunch of games to the mainstream but I’m seriously going to rip the testicles of the next person who calls a multi-hitting wall bounce attack “maximum [insert character here]” and shove them down their throat. For some reason it’s less annoying with anime* when people call a power-up move “[character] install”, probably because it happens less frequently than maximum [charactername]. Other Max-isms I wouldn’t mind leaving: “Finger lasers” “#yovideogames” and while not necessarily a max-ism, this can be turned into a drinking game that rivals Commando, take a shot every time Max says “synergy.” If you survive an episode without liver poisoning you have my respect.
Pretty much anything that comes out of a person that is new to the FGC’s mouth or the new FGC in general. Granted I’m an 09er, but I remember people getting suspended for just posting as an 09er in 2009 and people getting flamed/judged harshly due to the year they came in. I remember this website when threads were disorganized heaps and 3s did raids on the SF4 boards among other deviant acts here. Granted I missed stuff like the Marn photoshop challenge and the raid on Dustloop, but it gave a kind of insight as to what the core FGC was like at the time. Fast-forward to today and there are people who get offended at the slightest thing in comparison yet consider themselves part of the FGC. When some idiot says something like “I can’t believe what happened on cross counter, that’s so offensive!” or “why are they saying the n-word so much on the break stream, that offends me as a white person!” Nigga get used to it.
*on anime fighters, it doesn’t bother me that much. I’m aware the stigma is present and it is a deterrent for the mainstream FGC (take arcana heart for example). I find it an excellent way to categorize a genre of 2D fighters that share common traits and usually a very anime art style. My problem is the overuse of it as an attempt to justify current anime fighters: “you don’t like anime fighters? don’t you know that street fighter is an anime fighter…yeah it had an anime.” or crap like that. I personally don’t give two shits about anime/art, if the game is good play it.
No Johns
Fuck you, faggot, I’ll complain however much I want. It’s not like I’m saying you got lucky, I’m pointing out the fact that I missed an uppercut and that gave you the chance you needed.

Tech
Technology: This is the term I hate the most, it’s just so very annoying. Are you some sort of inventor? Its shortened version (Tech) could make sense due to it being frequently mistaken for TECHNIQUE (which should really be the word for it.) Technology this, technology that, what the hell is that? It’s not rocket science we’re doing, we’re playing a darn game.
In the lab: You think that you’re some sort of scientist or what? It’s called TRAINING MODE, call it TRAINING ROOM if you want, I don’t care. Just stop saying that, please!
Anyone who isn’t the 3S announcer saying “let’s go”. I don’t know why, it’s just fucking annoying.
“YO, MAHVEL”, “YO, IBUKI”, “YO, AKUMA” shut up.
Side note: I always love the obligatory people who pop up in threads dedicated to complaining to complain about the complaining.
FingerCramp’s use of the word “Babies”. Bad enough Newb has been bastardized into “Noob”, now we gotta welcome new Fighting Game players by saying they cry all the time and wet their pants?
And people wonder why the FGC keeps getting a bad rep…
My girlfriend hates ‘salty’.
I’m okay with everything tho
Maybe you should put more citric fruits in your diet, then.
