Fighting game lingo you find annoying

Well I mean you have an opinion. Its not good one for your mental health, its not a productive one for building relationships in this place and it can only lead to conflict at gatherings. It was pretty obvious you weren’t going to understand your surrounds but most of SRK doesn’t understand it either. So…just take the information, put it to good use and you’ll be a happier person for it.

Just me hanging out educating people. Its all that I can do so Preppy looks the other way at some of the shit I said on this page.

Remember, don’t hate, educate. Unless you really feel a need to try and step up to me like I don’t know what’s coming out of my damn mouth. Yo that dude can still go eat a dick for thinking he knows that word better than I do. you dudes need to hit that button like your beating Phoenix with a bat: fast and brutal.

Heh, did you just upfront say you were trolling?

If you wanna act like a retard to get a reaction outta me, more power to ya, 'cuz it just makes my position look stronger in comparison to all the people that ‘agree’ with you.Edit: Y’all should. Be glad the mods lean on me so hard, given free reign, I’d explode your balls

Soy el mejor.

Porque decirlo en ingles no fue suficiente.

Wrong. Though I can see where you misunderstood. If you actually look you’d see the thread is called “fighting game lingo you find annoying”. While I agree that all phrases you have mentioned are used by the fgc, they are not exclusive to it, where as most previous suggestions have been. I can also understand this little crusade of yours but the method in which you execute it accomplishes nothing. Jumping on SRK and spouting off insults is a good way to make people not give a fuck what you think and I must agree with Pherai in that your holier than thou attitude helps nothing. Your life will be a bit easier if you realize that this is the internet, and very few fucks are given by many about how they speak. You won’t change lives on SRK with this quest of yours, especially not with how you go about it as of now

This “crusade” of which you speak has literally been two posts on this website, and responding to the blowback on those two posts. It doesn’t matter if it’s exclusive to the FGC, the community can and should be better than other communities that use the same words the same way, and those other communities could probably stand to cut it the fuck out as well. That said, I’ve never seen “rape” in particular used that way anywhere else.

Now “faggot” and “gay” I can accept as not being exclusively FGC in terms of what context they have when used, but that just makes it the whole country’s problem, which is not something I mind pointing out.

I know Preppy hates people pretending to be mods and shit but…could you guys take this to PM. Honestly this is probably not the thread for it and a decent explanation of what you guys are discussing would take me a good 2,000 words.

At this point take it back to salty, blow ups, putting people on blast or the difference between wake up games and okiezemie (whoever the hell this is spelled). But the current exchange between the two of you is not a productive one.

lol @ dismissive

I can’t dismiss people who are against using offensive terminology. There’s no defending people who say offensive things. We all do sometimes because you can’t control what people are offended by. I’m offended by your smug self satisfaction over something as simple as not saying certain pervasive pejoratives.

I hate people that use terms like abare and okizeme. While I happen to know what they mean, I see people that are not knowledgeable about fighting games, asking questions (like in the newbie forums) and then people responding with terms like abare and okizeme. What makes them think those newbies will understand that if they are asking basic questions to begin with?

I think people like to throw out these terms to make other people look less knowledgeable and themselves even more knowledgeable, when someone has to say “what does abare mean?”

Abare is weird because it’s Japanese and Japan has a different meaning to it than the US does so wtf?

Salty. I wish we could move past that one. So many people use it, and use it wrong and it’s just gotten annoying to hear people talk about themselves being “salty.”

That sounds like salt to me.
Lol man i’m just fuckin with ya. I honestly can’t think of another term that I hate as much as swag though. Maybe “God tier”. So much misuse

And you have just proven my point for me- The fact that you resort once again to a wrong definition MTG players taught you without even being able to understand my post. Keep flailing your arms around while shouting curse words and maybe people won’t notice what a fool you have just made out of yourself. lol

Reset- Im tired of motherfuckers saying its a reset when they know damn well that person dropped the combo

That would be acceptable if your definition of reset wasn’t flawed. For instance in one of my Felicia combos it involves an air combo into Delta Kick. Then after timing the bounce correctly you forward jump cancel her toy touch which breaks the combo and resetting them in mid air to where you can air grab them to start another combo. So technically a reset is a combo that you drop on purpose so you can do more damage so long as your reset isnt somehow avoided. The way you said it makes it sound like people drop a combo and are like “Oh shit, I mean um yeah…that was totally a reset. i meant to do that.” Just remember that most resets are on purpose. Its not always a scrub trying to cover their ass and save face :stuck_out_tongue:

I have never heard such weak ass phrases til I starting frequenting fighting game forums. I’d feel so stupid if I actually kept any of these in my vocabulary.

Stay free/Free: probably one of the weakest insults ever conceived. Say someone is trash/ass/garbage/shit, at least those terms are offensive. Stay free is a tampon company where I’m from, so which 8th grader came up with this one? How do I get offended by this?

Salty: Sounds stupid as all fuck, but slightly better than Cam’ron’s overused “u mad”. Won’t catch me saying this shit ever though.

Godlike: I can’t picture grown men saying this, but eh, they do.

Anything with the word swag: I’m convinced that anyone who uses this word wears pants so tight their pant legs separate their testicles. Gotta lie down to put their pants on type dudes.

I find these all slightly, and I mean slightly less annoying than niggas screaming out ‘worldstar’ on fight videos. Someone fight that nigga.

Do better FGC, do better.

Salty and Ghadlike, stream monsters are some of the worst. “Hype” was the champion of the worst for along time until “Swag” found its way into the fighting game world. Any of the retarded pretend gangstahs in the SF community who come up with these bullshit slang words are ruining the SF community. Once these guys say these words, all the people on the stream chats who are usually 4 eyed greasy white kids who never leave their basement and don’t know what an arcade is flock to these words to be “cool”.

Actually “Stay free” is also part of a song in a GEICO commercial. Every time i see the commercial I think of bad players getting talked down to in an endless lobby on street fighter.

That’s one of the fun things though; The FGC likes to think of themselves as kids playing Street Ball in Detroit, but its reality is more the Modesto Chess club.

Well the more urban members of the FGC are like kids playing street ball in Detroit. We make everything we do hype and involved…

and as usual making dumb generalizations
have you ever been on a tournament by any chance?
do you know how is the real fgc?
