haha, yeah, CTF gets rank at times–PART OF THE EXPERIENCE, AMIRITE?
I wanted to let everyone know about a bar in Astoria that is hosting a “Game Night” every Monday. I just found out about it recently and I called to ask: they have an X-Box 360 with Rock band, Soul Caliber4 and halo. I Said" What about SF4? It is the hottest shit ever?" or something like that. Bartender said, “If you want to bring it in that is cool, just so long as others can play.”
Soooo, I was thinking we should convince this place to have a SF4 night on Mondays, someone brings a copy of the game and a couple sticks (I have PS3 otherwise I would) and we mob this place. Buy drinks have fun, generally convince them to convert Rock Band and Halo into fighting games. If they insist on plunking in another game, there is a great beer garden about a block away that we could go to instead.
I don’t want to punish them for playing other games, but I think this could become a casual/tourney venue. Monthly tourney’s maybe?
Bar is called Sunswick 35th Ave at 35th St. Very short walk from 36th Ave stop on N/W line and 36th St. stop on R train. Call them to beg for SF4. Game night is Mondays starting around 9.
Any thoughts?
Guru you know I’m in. I can bring the game and one 360 TE stick. Although I am a bit concerned about drunk a-holes abusing it. You know how rough some people play… I don’t want them to take out their problems on my controller cause I can’t afford a replacement.
Although I’m awful at convincing people to do stuff, I’m not a “talker”.
Excellent, I will see if I can get another stick lined up and I will start talking to the Bar. I could see this as a weekly casuals thing with maybe monthly tourney’s or something. Cool for the winter.
I think I will talk to some game stores too to see if they want to “sponsor”

T vs C would be fun too, I am just thinking it would be cool to get them sold on “Fighting Game Night” through SF4 and then expand to other games. MvC2, TvsC, Tekken, etc. I just really want to drink beer and play fighting games.

My name is Ben and I usually spend most of my time here working in GamePAD.
We’re a local game store located @ Brooklyn and we have MVC2, Neo Geo Mania, SFIV sit downs on the 360 where people Bring their own controllers (Whether it’s customs or TE). We also have Yugioh card battles and whatnot. We carry alot of game titles for current gen consoles brand new and preowned. I’m thinking in the near future we might throw tournaments for SFIV and other games. Please feel free to visit us @ Bay Parkway, Between 68th street and West 9th if anyone is interested.

Awesome. I will see you there Deteknician, if you can bring your stick that would be excellent. I am looking into either dual-modding mine or picking up one for the xbox. There should be one more coming.
edit: They will start the games out after the world series, unless we can get a TV dedicated. Also, No idea as to which characters will/won’t be available. It is the bar’s X-Box and they used to do SF4 but I haven’t been there for one of these yet.

The World Series kind of trumped game night. Only myself and Deteknician showed up and we ended up allowing the beer to create entertainment.
I think it may be a good venue in the future, but the bar doesn’t want to piss off any sports fans by starting the games until Monday Night Football ended (at almost midnight) I am going to try and line up a different venue (maybe Studio Square) where there is enough space to not have to prioritize what is on display. Then it would just be an issue of bringing a system. I will keep working on it, I think it would be a good weekly thing for the winter.
edit: They seemed pretty cool with people bringing in any X-Box games they want as long as they are multiplayer. Seemed very Rock Band centered, which means converting it to an Fighting Game night is in order.
8 hour lvl up session was golden. I know 2 more people who would be willing to come out to play next time I host.
