ello new here just wondering if anyone has some sort of tip for learning multiple fighters more or less at once.
in my case the list is
usf4 (found my main thanks to a thread in newbie saiko dojo)
injustice
blaz blue continuum shift
mk9
on a semi related note is is weird that while playing usf4 online i see no bars next to my name in the lobby? my connections isnt bad cause i play with no lag unless whoever im playign has terrible connection so it makes no sense to me.
Welcome to Shoryuken. Itās great that you want to try multiple fighters. Most newcomers only stick with one fighter and ignore the rest of the genre. My tip would be to learn and get a good grasp of the basics and fundamentals of each of those fighters. Maybe invest 30min to an hour a day for each fighter, more or less depending on your schedule ( work, school etc ). Donāt worry about advanced stuff. Thatāll come naturally once you have the fundamentals down. But if you want to excell in a fighter and get really competitive in it. Youāre better off learning one to two at a time
thing is iāve always been fascinated by fighters never too good at them yet still loved em. had a modded ps2 that got stolen last year and decided to get a couple fighters for it to try and give the whole fighter thing another shot. got semi decent with guilty gear xx ac, loved melty blood the one with super long name something something act cadenza and had 1 semi decent character but the whole not having any idea what was going on due to being in japanese definitely hindered me.
mvc 2 is still among my favorite fighters and had a pretty decent game with mutiple teams most involving wolverine and ken as my anti air assist.
tried out capcom figthing revolution/jam and thatās where i learned to really play my first character which was jedah, from there got the darkstalkers collection for ps2 and continued perfecting it.
ps2 got stolen during a break in about a year ago, honestly never thought of a ps3 cause the lil gaming i did was entirely satisfied by these old 2d fighters.
recently ended up getting a ps3 anyways and bought a bunch of games through a sale.
i plan on getting the psn darkstalkers game to see if my jedah is still decent but that will not be any time soon, too many bills atm.
mk9 and injustice feel similar enough to me that it can be an easy trade off between the
usf4 after getting advice and picking ibuki due to my preference for pixie characters i had way more luck and can intuitively work my way through a match at least if similar level. gotta work on some of my input execution but i feel like i can get a pretty damn decent ibuki with minimal effort in comparisson to other characters.
what took my by surprise was blazblue cc, what iāve managed to play i honestly thought it would be similar pace as GG yet it seems slower to me. might just be me though. as this si the oen where iāve put the least amount of time on
i dunno i like mk, always did like it. if anything their lobby is better than usf4. that said iām putting more time into usf4 still trying to get execution down for the ultra and specials for ibuki.
currontly on job hunt since my contract expired last week so my plan to buy a stick has been set back, gotta get used to ps3 controller. i find myself switching from dpad to analog stick depending on what i want to do.
Iāve heard it mentioned that Millia was pretty broken once she got below 50% and could spam her overdrive nonstop. That said, Iāve never really seen a proper list for the Missing Link.
Everyone was pretty broken, like HnK broken if not worse.
Based on my experience i can say that the best 2 characters were without doubt were Testament and Justice, Tetament has a quasi infinite that can be confirmed from any hit, once you led to a knock down you can OTG the oponent with 2K and do a grave digger until your heart is content.
Justice has Michael Sword and Imperial Ray as specials and not supers, she can charge her super bar basically with any hit from them and her Gamma Ray comes instantly, does a obscen amount of chip damage and dizzies you if it lands clean besides taking like half of your health bar.
Add that you can use a glitch? that lets you kara cancel any special from a dash (every character can do this) so you can do stuff like an imperial ray that goes from one side of the screen to another.
This can help you make infinites like grab or counter (that works against anything) Imperial Ray dashed or (6321466 + S) and start an infinite that only involves doing the imperial ray*n, even if you fail the input and it techs at any point, imperial ray does a huge amount of chip damage.
Also, if you are under 50% health you can do the Gamma Ray infinitely so you can combo one after another, doing chip damage until you kill them or catching the enemy dizzied just to dizzy them again with the gamma ray.
In the end, everyone had some bullshit that allowed them to do stupid stuff, and if they lacked it by any chance, once under 50% of health they could do their supers any time they wanted. Add the easy to do instant kill that could be comboed and you could use to make mixups like with chipp for example, where you could land the instant kill hit and input 236236K, if they evaded it, you landed your super, if they didnāt you landed the instant kill that took the 2 rounds.
Sol for example could do the one dragon install after another allowing him to use his lvl 3 HS-Volcanic Viper that takes like 50% of health on chip damage alone.
Axl had some really great normals, and her super is an easy get off me that under 50% of health can be spammed to do chip damage and keep the opponent away.
Zato while not being the preasure monster that is now, had great combos that lead into semi - unblockables and other stuff.
I think that Baiken had a tight link infinite that involved her dp alone.
The worst character was Potemkin, he didnāt have some of the amazing tools that it has now so it made for him dificult to deal with a lot of BS.
I also forgot, you could break you oponents defense by running at them and having enough super meter, this allowed you to do a special kind of dash that was called clash, you could also use a kind of parry that put your oponent on the danger state that leaded into the instant kill.
Thereās also a lot not known about the first GG. You can tech out of a lot of things, and pretty much any infinite that involves an OTG. Trying it right now, once you do a Badlands, if the opponent techs, they never get put back into a state where they can be OTG from that move again. Beyond that, the game is still incredibly stupid.
I cant play pad because my thumbs arent made of iron, also going from 360 to ps would be a pain if I had to play on both for different games or at someone elses house. Hope youre able to get a good stick soon.
I am aware of that, the loop that i am talking about involves a tight link that goes 2K, Grave Digger, 2K, Grave Digger, etc until they can tech, after that you go for the unblockabel with the trap under the ground to go for the loop again.
Now, for all its faults, i really loved that game to the point of being my main game until GGXX came out (By the time that i got a DC i XX wwas already out ), i used to play it with my friends 24/7
Non callused fighting game thumbs is why iswitch from thumbstick to dpad depending on what I want to do. Hereās hoping I get job soon and can get that mayflash stick I was recommended recently.
That explains so damn much about you. Although sticking to GG until XX came out is the most poverty thing iāve e er read on this site.
We need to make a list of hilarious broken games. Batshit crazy games that are so busted they are funny. Think king of these is Dong Dong Never Die with the dude who has a full screen infifite from his projectilw that cancels into itself.
Never got a chance to play SBX. The one time I couldāve, everybody just told me the game was ass and refused to look at it as if it were a leper. If youāre ever in need of a really good laugh, MKvsDC. Just play it and do random moves. All the terrible animation is amazingly hilarious.
