Current status of all MvC2 cabinets (as known by FFA staff):
H2H cabinet is working fine.
70’ right big screen is working fine.
70’ left big screen is broken: restoration is underway and is scheduled to be finished by 5/27/08.
Smaller showcase (West) P1 joystick is having problems with the down direction: fixing this is not top priority, it is not a simple problem, it is scheduled to be fixed by this weekend (before the tournament).
If there are issues with buttons or directions, please let me know what is not working, on which machine, on which player, and if applicable what percentage it occurs at.

there a problem with the east side h2h. the screen looks like its cropped and to the point where you cant see you first two characters and special meters

When I was there last night, the LP button on the right big screen was out, so I replaced it. We’re really low on micro-switches at the moment and I’m waiting for our resupply of them. A batch of 100 might last us a month.
I’ll try my best to make sure everything is running perfectly by the time of the tournament, and if there’s a tournament affecting issue with one of the machines then we won’t play on that machine. NOTE: Tournament affecting issues do not include only one speaker working.
Damn, has it really been 6 months since the last MvC2 tournament here?! If this one goes well I’ll try and host some more. MvC2 is our #2 fighting game so we shouldn’t shun it like that. See you all at the tournament.

Are you going to use all the marvel machines for the tournament? I think it’d be best just using the big screens, even though it may take longer cuz the other cabs just suck imo.

I was considering using just the big screens, but it will depend on the turn-out. If we get over 32 I’ll probably open up the smaller showcase, but I was planning on keeping the H2H up for casuals. And if we do open up that other showcase for the tourney we won’t use it for the final 8.
Besides, Neo Geo Battle Colliseum has been high on it’s pedestal as the #1 fighting game here since we brought it back! :nunchuck:

You must not be a marvel player. I’m putting this out there right now: I’m not playing on the side that has no sound. All of my matches will be on the big screen. It’s a wrap.
I used to play, but quit many years back. How big of a deal is it that you can’t hear a specific side of the fight? The West showcase machine (not the head to head machine next to all the street fighters) has one side of sound working. However, the players are right next to each other. Is it seriously that big of a deal?

yes it is, if you are super jumping, sounds help, you can even hear them trying to dash under you, i agree with fanatiq, i WILL NOT play mvc2 on a side with no sound, some people in 3s even hit confirm with sounds, i hit confirm magneto’s 1 hit standing HK sj cancel by doing the motion after the first sound, same with iron man c.lp c.mp sj lp ad.f lp hp -> infinite

I understand that sound is necessary for hit contacts, however, I wasn’t aware that stereo sound was important. I thought that it output sounds on both speakers regardless of your position on the screen.
I just went to check on somebody playing the 33" showcase and I didn’t hear any difference from when someone was being hit on the left side or on the right side. I then brought somebody else over to make sure it wasn’t just me, and they heard the same. Unless this information is innacurate we will still be using 3 stations for the tournament.
If there are 32 people or less then we will only use the two 70" big screens.
If there are more than 32 people then we will use the two big screens plus the 33" showcase. I will make sure all the buttons and sticks are working fine before the tournament.
We will NOT be using the Head-to-head cabinets for the tournament.
