Nah Captain, was down at FF tonight and the sticks on 3S ain’t perfect at all. Broken sticks are equal oppurtunity obstacles my friend.

The MvC2 stix/button issue was something that I’ve been stressing over for a long time…even as far back as when Soo/George first showed up at FFA…I’ve done everything from re-wiring cabinets to giving new stix/buttons on each cabinet…I can honestly say that MvC2 70" (Big Screen) and the H2H cabinets both have the newest 360 Sticks and buttons at FFA…I’ve payed more attention to MvC2, and I still get complaints about stix/buttons…but thats where it gets confusing for me…when ppl complain, its always something different…example…one guy will say short is not working…and another says its totally fine…I can never get more than 3 ppl to agree with what the problem is
and on top of that, after I fix it, I ask if its ok…the guy whos playing on it says its perfect, but later on I’ll see a post on how nothing works at all
the reason why 3s cabinets work is because I can get everyone to agree on the problem on the cabinet…if short doesnt work, then it doesnt work…the problem is easier for me to get to and fix it real fast
But its not always like that…theres another problem I see a lot too…someone complains about a cabinet and I see his ass owned by everyone…example…Edma always says 3s cabinets dont work…I see him lose to a lot of people but I see guys like 5 Star or Frank play on the exact same cabinet and own people for free and I ask if its really broken, and they say it works fine…thats something I see all the time in MvC2
Its people like that, that make my work a lot harder…if you lost and you cant accept it and have to blame it on a working button/stick, then thats bullshit…if its really a button stick issue, then I understand and I can fix right away
Honestly I think the only real solution to the whole thing is to use switch stix…IMO I think every fighting game should be on switch stix, but the majority wants 360s…so I tell my boss to order a shit load of 360s to make everyone happy…and when its there, I still get ppl bitching about it
No cabinet is immune from broken stix/buttons…its just the way it is…If its really broken then let me know and I’ll get to it…the stick issue is just a whole mess that I cant solve…according to Soo, he said it used to work perfectly, but I’ve done nothing diffent with installing/maintainence than I used to when he first came to FFA…I understand there are cabinets that do have problems that I cant fix (like the h2h monitor glitch) but that will be taken care of later on
Thats all I have to say…instead of bitching and insults, I’d rather see more ideas and solutions to the problem
I see then. The big machine works perfectly and so does the head 2 head on both sides the one that does not work is the side machine by the Tekken 5 arcade thats it. I think the XvsSF might need work tho.

I dunno why people think sticks never break. As soon as a button goes out, or the joystick gets wonky, people start screaming how everything is broken and nothing works. But then they’ll never go tell anyone. They’ll just get madder and madder and pound the stick and be pissed.
I mean, there are like 9 3S machines. And aren’t there 5 MvC2s? I find it hard to believe that NONE of those work.
I didn’t even know u read these threads shogo but here’s my opinion on this problem.
Mvc2 requires very precise movement, and a lot of it. About 4x the button pressing and the stick movement of 3s. Because of this it prolly breaks twice as much. In 3rd strike u might have a 3 or 4 hit combo to super, where as in marvel ur hitting 30-40 hits all the time. Not to mention the stick commands during. But each charachter requires different uses of the stick/buttons, so different people are gonna complain about different things.
A sentinel user is gonna notice a problem with kick buttons waaaay before an Iron man is, and a magneto will notice a problem with the punch buttons before an ironman is. I don’t constantly bitch about the stick but sometimes there are things wrong with it that I just can’t put my finger on.
On the right side of the big screen, there is a problem when both short and fierce are pressed at the same time. It only registers as fierce a lot of the time. I have seen this happen to me taliban pierre, and a few other msp’s. I’ve seen Taliban call it, when he’s gonna do storms lightning attack reset, he stands there for 2 seconds says watch this, and presses both buttons and a fierce comes out. I’ve done it too. That’s the main problem I’ve seen on it.
ON the left side, it is VERY VERY VERY difficult to do lightning attack to super, in fact it’s hard to do a lot of half circle motions. I don’t know what is causing it, but if you sit and watch you will notice that it’s not just me that said it the few times I was there.
I do understand where ur coming from though, but if u want 3 people to agree on a problem, ask 3 people who are using the same team. I will say something is wrong with the joystick but since Illan doesn’t use magneto he never sees it.
Thanks for trying to keep the cabinets up to date though. With mashing for supers and constant buttons presses going on the whole time those sticks are gonna always break down. I guess ur doing the best u can do.

no need to stress it bro. back when I was a regular at FF and when there were bi weeklies, everything was great consistantly. you always took care of thangs which I have no doubt you still do now. which should lead people to assume it must be something else. up until when me and dan stopped going completely after 2004 EVO things were fine. when we started coming back a few times the past month, things were horrible. the true heads know its not you shogo. me cyf dan and you know the rest of the old gang. so dont stress, let these foos think what they want :karate:
i havent played on the other 2 big screens in a while but i know for a fact the reason i wasnt playing on them is because 1 button is 100% out on one of the sides. i dunno if they are fixed now but maybe we should start playing on those 2.
and the h2h next to the entrance, the buttons stick like someone spilled soda on them so i avoid that one.
1 h2h, the screen is messed up as shogo said, but i guess its ok. i remember i couldnt dash with forward forward on the p1 side, but maybe it was just me.
I agree with what MegamanDS and Fanatiq had to say. They pointed out the problems, some even I didn’t know about. I will go today and see what else I can find on the MvC2’s that is broken.
P.S. FFA should have some MvC2 tournies to get some of us ready for EVO.

Thanks for the input Shogo. I really do think it is the masher that breaks the sticks though. I’ve seen that you usually fix them on Sundays and he is there like every day of the week. So when we get there Friday and Saturday they suck. So if it’s not too much to ask could you like tell him to stop mashing or you’ll kick him out or something. Mapster asked him but he just kept doing it. guy gets on my nerves. IDK why…

Alright, np, Hellfromabove. Anyways I just came from FFA and I know what is wrong with what machine. I split it to two categories “For Sure” and “Maybe”.
For Sure:
Big Screen 1p side has problems with half circles. 2p Fp +Lk has some problems.
MvC2 across from the “House of the Dead”(One of the head to heads) lp does no work at times. I has a peice of tape saying so.
MvC2 between CvS 2 and 3rd Strike. 1p hk does not work. 2p dashing towards the 3rd Strike machine has some problems, it doesn’t work sometimes and if it does it cuts the dash short.
Maybe:
Big screen 2 half circle motion. I had some problems with it.

thought it was me, but i know i can push 2 buttons at once, and when i started getting hp by itself consistently i knew there was something wrong.
Uhhh I’ll definitely be at ffa today, I’m actually gonna start heading out now, so if any heads can show up and give me some comp/money matches it’d be coo. Also, I think today should be money match friday, let’s try to keep it true to what it’s called.
