I honestly mash clp into rekka for punishes. But for combos I have keep a feel for a rhythm
I’m really new to fei and i’m having trouble with one of his combos. How exactly should I be doing the j. hk, st. hp xx rekkas? I can maybe pull it off 2 or 3 times out of 10 and I know I need to be able to do it 10 times out of 10 if I want to get any better. When exactly should I cancel the hp?
*Original Post by Nosone. The same apply’s for HP xx rekka. *
*cr.LP xx Rekka is a simple two in one motion. Several ways to accomplish this:
- Classic quick tap-tap: Using the same finger, cr.LP for one tap, do the :df::r:, then tap punch again for the Rekka. Works best when using the same strength Rekka as the punch.*
2) Negative edge: cr.LP and hold the punch, do the motion, then release punch. Works best for OS’ing a Rekka from a cr.LP poke, though the OS itself is pretty pathetic. Works best for cr.LP to a LP Rekka specifically.
3) Double Tap: cr.LP, motion, and LP for the LP Rekka. Faster than a normal tap-tap (sounds more like a “brppp”) since you use two fingers in quick succession. Works only for Rekkas using the same-strength punch as the normal punch.
4) Piano method: You can use this with cr.LP and any strength of Rekka. On a stick, hit cr.LP with your index finger and use your other fingers to hit the other punch buttons as you complete the motion. Each press is like a quick strum–fingers should be dancing. Alternatively, limit your piano-ing to two strengths of Rekkas to be more accurate with which Rekka comes out. By doing LP and HP for my piano, I normally get HP Rekkas both due to rhythm and input priority (in the case of pressing both buttons by accident).
Personally , I’m a bit weird. I’ll use the Piano if I’m sure I have the reversal or clean hit. I’ll use the double tap if I’m not sure or doing a bit of fishing.
With Piano you can sometimes get a second rekka, which is going to be big trouble in V2012. Although I have found the Piano is the only reliable way for me to hit the crouching bnb.
100% same here.
What are some essential Fei setups that I need to know?
How do I counter focus-happy people ? Sometimes almost every attack I throw out gets focused and I get hit, hurts like hell .
What works for me:
-cr.Lp into rekka
-Use your own focus (if he keeps charging backdash and punish)
-If rekka gets absorbed try and continue with another Lp rekka
-throw (risky)
-Neutral jump
-Ex chicken wing
When they focus when your jumping in (with j.Hk for example)
-just mash backdash (not sure if it works on all characters)
-flamekick (be careful dont backdash after they absorb it)
-ultra
-instead of jumping in with an attack empty jump then throw.
Or just bait it and punish with rekka
So, i just saw the nsb 30 video, and i noticed that mago would do a cw combo on rufus after he gets focused. I’m not sure if this is new or not but I went into the lab a bit and figured out how exactly it worked. It has to be a lv2 focus and its very character specific, i’m not sure who else it works on, so just wondering if anyone has a list?
combo: lv2 focus, foward dash, fierce cw, cl fierce, mk dp, fadc, fierce cw
BTW, everyone should learn this combo, if you manage to get a lv2 focus and (only) focus dash forward, do this combo! its the most optimal damage combo outside of super/ultra
If I recall correctly, only Rufus is vulnerable to it.
well thats very unfortunate… o well at least there a more damage punish on rufus then :]
Boba I noticed you were playing in the sjsu ranbats. You ever go to MGL or SVGL?
i rarely go to mgl/svgl due to not having time because school and stuff, but i do go out to tourneys like TNT and Southtown. And if I’m ever at an Arcade it will be the SJSU arcade (i’m there almost everyday actually). have i ever met you before rivals?
Nah I don’t think so. I just started playing in March and I go to MGL when time allows (full time job + other responsibilities) since I’m living in Milpitas for now so I know a lot of the people who go there. I don’t really go to much outside of that as TNT doesn’t work out for me well though I do go to gamecenter to play gvg on Sundays. I went to the first streetwise and I’ll be going to the others so I’ll definitely be at tight or fight. Don’t know what else is coming up but that’s about all I can think of right now. I’m sure we’ll run into each other sooner or later though
come down to the next sjsu ranbat oct 29th!!
Yeah I’m going to try to make it down for that. I just heard that a bunch of people I used to play sessions with go to TNT so I’m going to try to make it out to the next one, we’ll see if I can manage it.
Yeah man, hope you do make it out. I assume you play Fei Long as well? Fairly rare to see other fei longs.
I can’t punish blanka balls with dash to lp rekka, it always seems to be blocked . Any advice on it ?
Yeah, picked him up a couple months ago so I guess if you see a struggling fei next time around it’s probably me
Blanka balls is -24 on block and fei long dash is 17 frames and his light punch rekka is 7 frames for a total of 24 frames so as you can see its a one frame link when you time everything perfectly and that is why you miss it most times. my advice is for medium and hard blanka balls just use the medium punch rekka and for the light one just block and dash forward and close space, the push back on the light blanka ball is the longest so its safer to just block it.
