Fei Long Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Builds 40 meter, which is pretty significant since it takes 250 for one bar. No damage reset though.

So it adds a hit onto the damage scaling? So useless save for the kill combo

The Tenshin itself doesn’t add a hit either, so it’s a good idea to tack it on if you’re confident with comboing from Tenshin thereafter. You can do a positive test by doing lv3 Focus> cl.HP xx Flame Kick> FADC> CW> Ultra versus the same combo using Tenshin after the Focus. The Tenshin shouldn’t impact the total damage I believe.

I know that for short combos at least, Tenshin does not add to the counter so Focus> Tenshin> Combo is the same as Focus> Combo, except Tenshin builds meter for you.

Do you guys usually play Fei with stick or pad? I’m finding Fei alot better and easier to use on pad than stick, but…just wondering.

I play pad. Not having any trouble except for that st.fierce xx super

i think for fei long pad is actually a bit easier considering you are already familiar with a pad when it comes to fighting games …as i did buy a stick but i found that the motions for rekka’s and chicken wing were easier for me on pad rather than stick .

What are the MOST DAMAGING punish Combos for Fei?
I’ve only got HK CW FP EX FK. EX FK whiffs so sometimes its Rekka

edit-also after a focus attack

Edit 2- Whats the frame advantage of a far lp? Its not +3 eventhubs and SRK got that wrong dam them. I’m able to link far lp with c.mp and c.mk so its at least +5 on hit

I’m not sure of this, but I think that you should do HKCW into close mp xx EX FK, I think the third hit of the FK will connect, unlike when you use it after close hp.

is it possible to link cl.strong after hk.cw?

no. close mp is 5 frames, hkcw is +4

Check LorteBudding’s topic for the damage values for combos. Punishes are pretty specific to the situation/character, so I’m sure you’ll find a couple in there that you like.

Advantage on st.LP, either close or far is +5 flat. On block you get +2.

Its +2 on block? Wow thats awesome.

any of you guys feel that you win matches based of your opponent not knowing the fei match up?
dont get me wrong…winning with fei takes more than just that to win but most ppl really dont know how to fight him…being that he not the most popular character

Eh their loss. I’ve been beaten hard by quite a few characters because I didn’t know them at all (Guy, Makoto) but I don’t hold grudges.

got schooled by a hakan last night cuz i had no idea wat any of his moves looked like, wasnt sure if he was hitting me with a command grab, a throw, even got hit by a meaty super… knowing matchups and other characters besides the common ones are still important

Nope not at all.

Can I get some tips on doing cr.lp -> rekkas? I can’t seem to get it right… is there a timing for it? I use a stick.

Look at the thread at the bottom of the page called “hit confirmed trouble” theres a few methods in there. I use a stick myself, it’s not easy and takes practice. I use Strum multiple buttons giving me a better chance.

This was my advice in that thread -

“Hit down, then LP, Down forward, MP, Forward (obviously all in one smooth motion). Fei will then LP into Rekka. I find it personally much easier (on stick) to use 2 buttons instead of 1.”

Wow lol that helped out a lot actually! At first I tried using LP for the entire thing but I just sat down for 5 minutes using MP as the starting rekka and it comes out a lot more often. Thanks!

No worries, Your next project is to now link that on the end of Cr-lk, st-lp , st-lp and then… lp -rekka! lol (that’s one of his main BnB’s you’ll hear people talking about)

Also try linking what you’ve just learned now on the end of a HK/EX chicken wing to improve your damage out put when you land it - you have 1 frame but you’ll find it with practice. It’s a bit easier (i find anyway) online due to lag and such.
