what is fei long’s most damaging combo to land after a focus attack (excluding super and ultra)
Probably s.FP to Fire kick, if you’re close. You can cancel into chicken wing, but to be safe, you could go with s.HP to rekkas.
Combos and links compendium has damage values for most of his BnBs. The answer to this is entirely character specific.
lol, these is the mental aspect too. a simple and powerful combo like heavy punch to rekkas is only damaging, but a well executed bnb can shake their emotions and keep them anticipating the worst.
Lol I beg to differ about that. If I played you and saw that happen, I’d be really glad actually.
The normal BnB does about 170ish, while a simple HP xx HK Flame Kick or HP Rekkas will net about 260. There’s a solid difference there, and the fact that you can opt for Flame Kick to keep your opponent close when you need to is a huge bonus. Since the BnB involves another link, this means that there’s more potential to fuck it up too. Hell, if you go for MP xx HK CW on the characters it works on, you’ve already done more than the BnB, even if you only get 2 hits of HK CW (for Chun).
If someone can fully capitalize on my mistakes every time, I’m much more likely to be afraid of him.
Very good point.
512 damage 655 stun
does anybody here consistently use cl.HP to shut down dp’s ( non ex) on opponents wakeup … it seems too risky as the timing is tight and of course you could just eat fadc ultra or against ryu you eat trade ultra but still worth asking .
Far meaty standing high punch is good, trades in your favor most of the time BUT resets your position to the other side of the screen. Lose to ex dp, super, ultra, trades with lp and mp dp, hp don’t know, beats anything else.
I started using this a lot against Ryus to mix with cross-ups and jump-ins. st.HP will stuff most attacks, and as mentioned above, will trade with DPs as well. I think the one DP that wins is MP since it has more invulnerability frames, while the other DPs will trade in Fei’s favor (120 damage st.HP vs 100 dmg LP SRK and HP SRK with one hit).
Thanks to the new DP mechanics, trade into Ultra isn’t possible anymore (DP trades get reset instead of giving Ryu the advantage). Definitely DON’T abuse this though. There was a time when all I would do was this trade–in the end it only puts you up 20 or 40 damage over the opponent. Use it when you need a “free” hit (i.e. to finish a match), but don’t use it too often.
your useing far hp tho right nosone?
Oh, yea my bad. I thought the 120 dmg thing tipped it off, but yea I’ve been using far HP for its extended hitbox.
120 without the counter hit addition you get sometimes
oh i knew that Far st HP trades with regular dp’s , but i was asking if anyone actually goes for cl.HP to completely shut it down and then combo into rekkas for extra dmg . well your going to have to combo other wise you will be punished due to the negative frames on hit .
I could be wrong but I believe most DPers are already airborne on their vulnerable frames so you can’t go for a ground meaty combo
in training mode record ryu doing jab shory on a loop …knock him down then try time cl HP on his wake up
i could just possibly be just landing the cl HP between the little gap that is left between the shoryus but you should try it out see what happens .
Suprisingly I use this and it works pretty well. I find it does indeed trade with DP (which is almost an even trade). I use Cl. HP canceled into LP Rekka. Easy to hit confirm and totally safe on block.
Oo sounds kinda risky, but definitely something to consider. I’ll try this out later tonight.
The reason why I, and maybe Lorte as well, use the far st.HP is because the opponent is less likely to random SRK since you’re not in range for it. If you get a counter hit off of say, an attempted cr.MK, you get 120 dmg + counter hit bonus with no trade to worry about. Overall, it’s a less risky move and can be mixed up easily with cr.MK and f+MK if the opponent starts blocking .
Don’t get me wrong, I use both. Far HP is prettty good for wake up. I use close HP X LP Rekka when I have a significant lead. Though Im starting to use Close MP when opponents get up. I think it might be better.
Anybody use any Counter Hit set ups with Fei Long?
