Fei Long Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

spent some time in the lab and found that if the CW was :hcf::uf:
instead of: :db::qcf::uf: it would help alot to land the combo.

for me my problem is that i have an extra forward dash and the combination of adding :l: to the cw motion causes the command throw :frowning:

try to relax your gripā€¦ this will avoid you to not buffer :r:. I am still learning this but it helped me.

I have a question about frame data on Feiā€™s BnB combos.

Does anyone know how many frames it is to link these:

cr. LK > cr. LP
cr. LP > cr. LP
cr. LK > st. LP
st. LP > cr. LP?

I know that cr. LP > cr. LP is harder, but is it less frames than cr. LK > cr. LP? The reason why I ask is because when youā€™re fighting smaller characters st. LP whiffs, so Iā€™m trying to find out which link has more frames. thanks.

Crouch light anything and youā€™ll get +3 frames on hit. All the light attacks require 3 frames to execute, thus theyā€™re all 1 frame links except the last one which is a 3 frame link (+5 on the standing LP).

this a fun but in the sametime a lil fustrating. once you start using fei block string im traped. I main Dic so i try spacing him out with st mk, cr mk, st rh but once he in its pretty tough. Respectfully request advice on this match up.

having difficulty with Hard Trial 01

Hey guys, just started trying Hard Trial for Fei tonight.

I canā€™t seem to be able to link the Heavy Chicken Wing with the HP. Any tips on how to pull it off?

You just have to fool around a bit with the timing. You should aim to launch the HP right as Feiā€™s feet touch the ground. You canā€™t really hope to spam this, so just have a sense for when the perfect time to press the button is.

does anyone know the most damaging combo after a HK CW or EX CW? i usually use cr. LK > st.LP > cr. LP > rekka

@ jordanux93 : mess around with HK CW, st.lp ; it helps getting the timing for st.hp. If i remember correctly st.HP is a 1 frame link, while st.lp should be 2 or 3.

@ ghost :

Hard ones :

  • HK CW, st.hp, HK FK => 368 dmg (EX FK 400dmg)
  • HK CW, st.hp, HP Rekkas => 366 dmg (EX Rekkas 380dmg)
  • EX CW, st.lp, st.hp, MK FK => 308 dmg does not work on every character, HK FK second hit will whiff if not cornered (EX FK 350, cornered, does not work on every character)
    Medium ones :
  • HK CW, st.lp, HK FK => 298 dmg (EX FK 330dmg)
  • HK CW, st.lp, HP Rekkas => 296 dmg (EX Rekkas 310dmg)
    ā€œEasyā€ ones:
  • HK CW, bnb. (ex: HK CW, st.lp, st.lp, cr.lp, HP Rekkas 305 dmg)

I personally think HK CW, st.lp, HK FK is underused, damage is nice, MK FK can be FADCed to another CW, but highly punishable if you dont link it correctly, I think rekkas are a bit more safe.

combing into rekka is very specific isnā€™t it? I canā€™t do a c. lp into a lp rekka, but i can with hp rekka.

I saw vids of justin doing what I think is either a s. forward or s. jab into rekka but i have not figured out which punch i have to use for rekka. Which one is it?

I should really incorporate more rekka in my game as Iā€™m 90% using c. jabā€™s.

Both standing and crouching low punches are special cancellable into any punch rekkas. You must start your qcf motion hitting lp, ending it with any punch . To cancel standing low punch into rekka, you just have to be really fast doing your motion. Holding back, hitting low punch then doing hcf ending with any punch is the easy way to do it.

I donā€™t know the damage numbers, but I guarantee the most damage you can get after a hk chicken wing is: close stand fp xx mk flame kick FADC 3-hit ultra. The close fp after chicken wing is tough to learn but the key is to plink it with fierce and jab pressed immediately after it. I can hit a plinked fierce~jab with a much higher success rate then timing a jab. If I do miss the timing of the plink, I typically get a stand jab anyway. Thereā€™s no reason to not go for the plinked fierce, you have 1 less frame to link but two button presses and the potential for way more damage and dizzy with the fp.

Learn it, itā€™s crucial to landing free damage after a connected chicken wing and setting up option selects other then combos (i.e. back dash, throw, block).

Shortcuts in SF4 is a good habit. I think theyā€™re ridiculous, to be honest, but theyā€™re also crazy good and EASY.

Every random mofo you play against is going to be using them (and some not even realizing that theyā€™re using them, lol)

i actually dont like it. i rarely use it for flame kick, but i always accidentally do lp SRKā€™s with ken these days from mashing cr. jab.

So is it actually called chicken wing? where did the name derive from?

@Nosone thanks for answering the question, even though I donā€™t like the answerā€¦ I donā€™t like 1 frame links, Iā€™m better at the CW > HP link than the cr. bnb link. Iā€™m always dropping the bnb linkā€¦ back to the training room I guess.

@AOS the actual name is the Rekkukyaku, but the nickname comes from Street Fighter 2. The attack looked different than it does now, I think it was 2 hits and overhead. I think it looked like a chicken wing, but Iā€™m not entirely sure why they call it that either, maybe someone else can explain it better.

Lol Cigar :xeye: CW> HP is a 1-frame link, while the BnB is a 3-frame link. I think the trouble youā€™re having with the BnB is pressing the punches in quick succession instead of timing the last cr.LP> Rekka.

Itā€™s cr.LK>s.LP all fast together, then a fraction of a second pause, followed by cr.LP> Rekka. It really is easy to do once you get the hang of it. Youā€™ll probably find it even easier than the CW> HP link.

Nah I was talking about the crouching bnb, cr. LK> cr. LP> cr. LP> Rekkas, itā€™s a 1 frame link you said. I need to get this one down so when I cross up Ryu, Ken, and whoever else the st. LP wonā€™t whiff and I wonā€™t get a DP to the face. I use the regular bnb for the big fellas, I still need to figure out who else the st. LP whiffs on. Thanks though.

Sorry to post twice but I had a question.

Can someone tell me if a whiffed jump attack has the same recovery as an empty jump?

I rarely use my meter, rarely use ex CWs.

Does the EX flame kick have start up invincibility frames? or when does the hit box come out rather?
