If I’m going to try and punish the back dash from focus mid screen do i need to use HP rekka for the extra range?
Would EX rekka be suitable too?
I have raw ultra’d the focus a few times but I find it very hard to react and do the input fast enough.
When i try to focus this Ryu player at max range he often jumps in on top of me and lands at a very close range where i can’t seem to connect the focus attack.
So day 1 of Ultra and Fei seems like hes still really good. The extra frame of advantage on cr. Lk is great. And with this game being a lot slower and more footsie based is great for us.
Cr lk, cr lp, cr lk, cr lp xx rekka for crouchers. I hit this inconsistently and need to hammer it out in training.

Cr mp/ cl mp, cr lp xx rekka … I seem to land this the most when the opponent is cornered
I find the majority of my damage coming from footsies, mp frame traps, tenshin(raw, or after conditioning the opponent to block) and recovery / whiff punishing.
do we have a list of characters that we can link close st MP into close stand HP on? and is it character specific as well as dependent on being midscreen/ corner on certain characters?
has anyone tested the cr lk, cr lp, cr lk, cr lp confirm on the entire cast?
Still missing information about cls.MP , cls.HP though. Tried yesterday and could only get it to work against standing Blanka, Dee Jay and Fuerte (didn’t test against crouching characters).
It only works off a jumpin-attack (I used j.MP) and you have to walk forward for probably exactly 1 frame after the cls.MP. That makes it really hard to do. Not reliable imo.
The best new combo Fei has is cr.lk > cr.mp > cr.lp xx rekka by miles. Yes it’s a 1fr link but it hits all characters crouching, does good damage and turns itself into a fake frame trap if you miss the link. If you practise the link it’s strange timing but an easy 1 frame (by that I mean there’s a nice pattern to it). You also input the hardest part of the combo in a section where you are safe if you miss time. Unlike the big brother Fierce combo which see’s you eat a full punish.
Yes you’ll get mashed out on it but that’s going to happen with every combo. This is the one I’m implementing and I’m leaving the cl.fierce combos for corner scenario’s or deep jump ins since it’s the only sure fire way of knowing you’re in range.
Yeah, I completely agree with Highland. The only time I’m not using that bnb is if crlk, crlp, crlk, crlp works on my opponent. thats such an easy combo that you’d be crazy not to take advantage of it. Or if st lp hits an opponent crouching after a single crlk.
As far as the close MP, close HP link goes- its very character specific, only works on some characters standing, on others crouching, some characters have to be hit with a jump MP first. If you can hit the link consistently and keep a list of all the characters and how they can get hit by it with you then do it, but I think that with the tools Fei has learning all of that isn’t necessary.
I do wish I would have tested close MP on counter hit against the entire cast though, cuz that could be something worth learning.
crlk, crlp, crlk, crlp works so easily for me. I’ve hit it almost 99% of the time on the cast it works on. Going from crlk x3 to jab rekka to this is night and day difference on difficulty for the cast it works on. Almost feels like I’m cheating with Fei.
