I think you just need more practice playing Bison. It’s an even matchup, but you have to really be worried about the :lk: scissors. Do what Highland was saying with the Cr :hp: & :mk:, get the dmg when you can.
Bison doesn’t so good dmg, so you gotta shut down his options with our normals. I know jumping :mp: can also beat out his st :hk: if you think you have to jump to get in there.
And if you are feeling overwhelmed, use U2. It shuts down everything, except crusher & his U2.
If you’re going into the corner, it’s usually ok. But at the corner, Idk why that happens, but the 2nd hit will just whiff. I’m not sure if it’s dependent on which :k: button was used, or if it’s an engine thing.
I think it might have something to do with whatever changes they made to it’s hitbox. Prior to that nerf, I had almost no trouble landing it while they were tucked in the corner. Now, I find myself whiffing it every now and then.
Getting the three hits (if the character can) using Medium seems to be much more consistent in the corner than Heavy now. So it must be the hitbox nerf.
cr.LP and st.LP can sort of challenge Bison st.MK and st.HK respectively.
Good god, it can be a nightmare to pull that off. Mago can make it look easy at times. Watch matches with him to get an idea of what range to try and be at.
But yeah. His far st.MK is such a pain, a Bison player who only sticks out st.HK can be hard, but once you start seeing a bunch of st.MK. Uuuugh.
Yeah, he just moved to my area and we haven’t had a really great bison for a while. The one we had stopped playing way before I got into the scene. Next time I see him though I’m just going to turtle, and use cr MK all day.
Just record the training dummy throwing out st.mk and st.hk and then find your range.
St.fierce and cr.fierce are the main buttons but I also use Cr.lp xx mp rekka OS from outside range against Bison because it will go under the St.HK for a full rekka series. Punishing the st.mk is a little bit more difficult.
Cr.mk is good like you say. Also if you get a spamming bison you can always try to jump in (don’t abuse obviously) with J.mp. His AA’s are not that great and J.mp can beat his normal’s clean if timed right.
I play a few top bison players, I can have a look at my replay’s and see if I can find any good examples.
That would be great man. We play on sundays so if I run into him in the bracket I’ll definitely give some new stuff a chance, it can’t get any worse than it was last week ha.
I’ve always maintained that a good Bison is one of the toughest for Fei, especially a defensive/footsie one that doesn’t do the usual “dumb” Bison stuff.
One of the main key’s to Bison is to pressure him while he has no meter then bait him out when he does. His meter is very important to him, more so than a lot of characters.
Also EX rekka can really blow him up without fear of reversal on your part. I really spend my meter on it quite a bit, it’s free pressure that leads to frame traps.
Yoo good stuff to Annoobilation for his two matches on the VXG stream. Your first match it looked like you were nervous but then settled in nicely. Eduardo on the other hand…lol it’s Eduardo. My question is, do you have a lot of Boxer XP? Taking into consideration you faced possibly the best Boxer in the world I’d say you did pretty well!
I did way better than I expected vs PR Rog. I don’t have a lot of Boxer XP but before my match I played tons of casuals vs good players and a Dominican Fei player was giving me advice on the matchup.
Is it possible to autocorrect dp a demon flip? No matter how late I time it, still goes the other way. I’m wondering if there is some auto correct mechanic I don’t really understand. Never played a dp character in sf4
Negative. You can’t AA Akuma reliably, it’s hitbox fighter 4. You can’t auto correct Akuma unless he goes for a standard cross up, which will never happen vs anyone decent.
Your best bet against Akuma is as follows…,
Air Tatsu - cr.mk goes under - Full punish from lights or throw
Demon flip grab - St.fierce or Dp
Palm - Block ( can be dp’d but kind of hard to get a read)
Dive kick - Block (unless you can eye that it’s late)
Basically your best off eye balling the tatsu for a punish or blocking. The St.fierce is really good if the Akuma player trys to demon flip from close range coming out of a block string, it’ll tag him out of the air.
Is there any hope for the Fei Long - Rufus matchup? I mean, for God’s sake, PR_Balrog perfected Justin Wong at EVO in this battle.
-Ambiguous crossup divekick
-Divekick can beat flame kicks and punish them on wakeup
-His cr.hp is longer than yours
-Galactic Tornado EX nullifies everything you do
-Corner game is very hard to maintain due to divekick mixups
We win that matchup. What is your approach when playing Rufus? His normals aren’t that good and he can be punished on alot of stuff EXCEPT Galactic Tornado and :mk:/:hk: Messiah Kick. And using U2 should stop alot of his DK pressure.
I played MCZ Glitch recently, and if you see Rufus’ cr :hp: punish those with :hp: Rekkas if in range. The normals Fohstick mentioned are great to keep him out. And NEVER JUMP at him. Not only does Rufus’ cr :mp: stop jump ins, you’re gonna eat a lot of dmg with Snake Strike/EX Snake Strike.
Just block. I’ve seen some Feis use U2 in that matchup too. You have to literally autocorrect once they’re over. You press the button at the last possible second, but the timing can be tricky so it may not always be worth the risk.
