There’s actually a lot of things you can do against both Blanka’s Ultra’s but they require different timings. It’s possible to escape the chip too. When he goes up and comes back down you can DP that part and it’ll knock him out. You can also focus back dash into your own Ultra (this is a little tricky) or just block it correctly then Ultra.
The balls I find I’m more comfortable doing the dash up LP rekka than the reversal mp rekka. The dash up I feel at least I can mash on dash for the timing and hit confirm where as I feel the mp rekka is a leap of faith sometimes with the first one whiffing and being so negative on the second.
For randoms like Blanka I just turtle and wait for the random mistake to happen. Then just sit on the lead, unless he has no meter then I pressure him quite heavily.
No Fei’s in the final of EVO…damn. Unless you count PR Rog I guess. That might be a good thing for the patch though…!
Cr.lk now 4 frames apparently. There’s a video on the Rekka. It’s noticeably shorter perhaps even enough to change some reversal situations and most definitely short enough that you can’t sit at that nice range.
It looks like a fairly big nerf but I guess we won’t know until final changes.
I know it’s early, but it seems like he got the cross and other chars got better. I think I literally read that Cammy can do her Cannon Strike LOWER to the ground and continue the combo. Fei’s range and 4 frame cr :lk:. That seems a little harsh IMO.
And with that new rekka… why would anyone even pick Fei when his rekka has the same range as Yang’s rekka, but is more punishable and you can’t fadc it? It’s so dumb, and fucking Cammy is getting her TKCS back, like, wtf?
If Yang gets his s.lk 3f back plus the Walk speed buff, he’s going to be insane.
Honestly I’ve been grinding out Yang I’m hoping everybody and their mother isn’t going to switch with him just because he’s top tier. I genuinely like the character.
I’m pretty sure Balrog, Rolento, or Yang will be the characters I use in the next version.
I put 3 yrs into Fei so I’m not dropping him. Yeah, he’s getting the cross which IMO is completely unfair. Another nerf ok, but rekka range is too much. But Yang is Fei with DK, so I might as well really try to learn the char now.
For the longest time I’ve avoided playing Fei Long, because his BnB has been extremely hard for me in the past. If I can’t get a simple BnB, why play the character, right? Well, I have amazing news! (for me at least :D) I’ve found that negative edging his BnB is ridiculously easy to do. After a few hours of practice with real people, I can do it very consistently. This character is amazingly fun to play as! I love footsie/rushdown characters. That’s why I play Yang/Grapplers and the like.
Now that the introduction is over, my question: does anyone have a list of the characters that Flame FADC CW only hits for 2 on the CW? I might just be doing it too early, but I figure the QnA section would be the best place to ask. For example, no matter how I time it, I can’t seem to get it to hit 3 times on Adon.
How do you deal with Chun Li players? They outzone and outpoke your every move, casually walk away from your offenses, can burn through meter and keep you at bay with EX attacks, and know how to punish your simplest mistakes?
Also, standing kick to punish jump-ins, pressure makes you too scared to use flame kick even when she jumps, walk-up grabs, stand jumping HK out-prioritizes all jump attacks, and grabs beat cr.mp.
Basically, all her heavy normals beat my attempts to Rekka and get in. She creates an invulnerable wall of damage that makes it impossible to get in.
Just try to bait her heavies and whiff punish. This isn’t v2013, so Rekka still has some distance ;D Neutral jumps seem to work nicely for me in the Chun matchup.
I have a question myself. Been watching a bunch of matches and I’ve noticed that no one really command grabs that often. Any particular reason why? I figure his ticks into it would be really nice, like j.MP or something like that.
Command grab is 14 start up frames with 2 active frames. It’s the slowest command grab in the game and you have to have an incredible feel for your opponent to use it properly in my opinion. You have to give your opponent a reason to block, and show them that you can bait and punish their reversal.
An example for a set up i use off of back throw is whiff a stand medium punch, jump forward light kick (safe jump that beats 3 frame reversals) stand light punch> ex grab. Its great late game if you’ve already proven that safe jump set up, but even then it’s never guaranteed.
