I hear you man. I honestly watch your videos, Driftwood, and some other top tier Fei players. I do literally love playing the game and the community and trying to be as good as I can.
I know I have progressed since I started taking this seriously after Evo 2010. IMO, I think there’s another level in top tier Fei players.
I’m still in my learning phase (and probably we all are, its why we’re here), but I want all of us to level up.
From the sound of it you need to learn how to react instead of being pensive while you play. The second someone jumps you should have the AA ready. Focus on keeping the other guy on the ground so you can punch him.
Sounds easy, takes practice, but so worth it when someone jumps to their death over and over
Lol I know what you mean, you’ll get it eventually. After playing for a while you’ll get better at eyeballing safe jumps, cross ups etc. When in doubt, block, it’s better to eat a tech than a counter hit setup or a FK bait.
Lol no problem, believe me I got my ass kicked many a time at Southtown before I started learning how to play smarter (not saying I STILL don’t get bodied every once and a while lol)
Well I’M SAYING I DO GET BODIED. Quite often. This is the only game that makes me not want to play anymore smh. But what the heck? Already spent 3 years might as well keep going right?
Nah I always knew how to do rekkas just my muscle memory failed to recall it. Took me about 25 mins to learn it when I first got the game and 15 minutes to remember it a couple days back. THanks anyways.
so idk where to ask this but anyone want to play on ps3 i feel like i need a fei coach cause i really do not know what I am doing wrong and I can’t save replays yet -__-
add me if you want psn: funksauce
You can try to record on your phone and just post here if tout want someone to look at your replays. Also, don’t worry about wins and losses right now if you’re just starting out. Just try to get a better feel and being comfortable and the wins will come.
Yes it does, but I should stress the importance of being able to do 3 solitary Rekkas without using piano. Of course you should always go with what’s comfortable but I’m trying to emphasize good habits for the long run
Its just practicing once at a time slowly then speed them up. Both sides just practice the QCF notation and then try to execute it. All you’re tryna do is build your muscle memory.
Only thing with piano (which I must admit I’ve advised new players of in the past) is that the CPU will without a doubt give you the second negative edge rekka and your toast against pretty much the entire cast on block.
I’d say for the best of both worlds, piano on your hit confirm combo’s (because the link is a piece of piss) but for single pressure and raw rekka hit confirms, the single inputs are the only way to fly.
Also try finishing your rekka’s at upforward, pretend your doing 3 chicken wings, you’ll never drop them.
Thanks guys. Been using the up forward for the right side, getting slightly better. Comboing into the Rekkas on the left is what is really giving me problems. I can get the 1st one out most of the time now. 2nd & 3rd not coming out, or late. Been hitting lp + hp after the 1st one hits sometimes, and it works for me sometimes. I also find it easier from cr.lp, maybe because I just have to go from that, to forward + punch to combo into Rekka.
I’m eager to go online, but I guess I should wait until I can play on the left side first, haha. Also, are cr.mp and cr.hp his best pokes? I was using them a lot vs a Gief player, it stuffed quite a bit, not sure what he was hitting.
Coming from Bison, I feel Fei is a much stronger pick and applies pressure just the same. I’ve messed around with the Vortex characters n stuff, but never stuck with them, didn’t have a problem either with them, except Adon (drop combos galore). I got a casual session tomorrow but I probably won’t go, too many people hog the setups. Not leaving my house to stand around and watch someone arrogant play all day, there’s YouTube for that.
Edit: I caved. This guy picked up on that I don’t really know how to play Fei Long. Kept trolling and taunting. So I pretty much did what I’ve been doing for the past 3 months when I face online players like that (it’s common). Blanka.
Does Fei do well against random, go nuts people? Like Seth, Viper or Akuma, or people that play with their mentality?
I’ve been doing ok against people/characters who play logically, but against the those aforementioned things, I seem to crumble - sometimes losing barely or sometimes a lot.
I thought that was the only type he doesn’t do so well against, and is probably why he’s not considered overpowered/broken, just lame. Then again, I have very little experience with Fei. He seems to do very well against everyone else.
My training sessions didn’t go to well online lol. When people troll, I troll back. I don’t learn anything from someone jumping back and taunting, just a waste of my time no matter who wins.
