Fei Long for Dummies- A good players guide to not losing online

cr.MK does a good job of stuffing it or you can backdash and immediately punish with Rekkas (EX Rekkas might even be good here). At longer range, you can whiff punish it with Rekkas or cr.HP (which I prefer since it has an extended hitbox in case you mistime it). If he does st.HK in the corner follwed by something then st.HK again, just watch what that “something” is and try to intercept that accordingly

I’d like to point out that JK is only negative if hit on the first frame/s which is rare and Air JK is almost always Positive.
Its rare for JK to be negative so don’t count on it.
So says the Adon Board

Hm good point there. I always took the frame data from the wiki for face value–seems there’s more to it. In any case, most of what I said should work, minus the cr.MP portion if the above is true (I don’t doubt it).

I like to block the first then dash back. Depending on how he usually reacts, I’ll do 1 of three things.

  1. Does not spam it > fight normally

  2. Spams it > throw, hopefuly have my super up and murder him

  3. Spams it only > Ex CW or jump over him. If you have a good life lead, you can try to middle punch rekka him after a block. Personally i usually jump over him and try to get him to spam fireballs or DP and counter accordingly.

im not sure how good this is because i havent tried it yet in a real match, but i saw mago just go ahead and try to beat akuma to his next attack with cr.lpxxxrekka, after blocking the far RH. ive also seen him do it against blocked ken step kick, and bison scissor knee

i dont know that that solution qualifys as low or high level, but it takes pretty good timing to bank on not getting counterhit and coming out of the even blockstun at the same time as your opponent

You can duck under the first hit of Akuma’s standing HK with your cr.MK

For Fei players out there who don’t know, crouching Medium Kick is a pretty godlike poke, especially against characters with crappy ground games like Dudley and Balrog (mid-range).

if an opponent is late teching , option select teching , jab mashing , or simply turtling on their wakeup…a well timed meaty tenshin will beat all of that
and once you catch them with this they will most probably be afraid to turtle and start using invincible reversals on wakeup so be wary of that and just try to adapt to your opponents thought process and never let them get acquanted with yours .

on a side note i have just discovered the wonderful world of late teching and it has made my game much more solid

Let me in on your secret as I too have been caught teching poorly

late tech is basically a safety precaution , because you sheild yourself from attacks and from a throw at the same time . It’s best to use late tech on your wakeup …stick to crouch teching when the opponent is pressuring you unless the opponent is cammy lol .

There’s no secret to it. Just delay your crouch tech by half a second to counter act frame traps and meaties.

For those that don’t know, cr.forward can be used as a reversal to break Demon Flip Palm option selects.

that actually sounds like a pretty good idea hnic mike, most akumas go for cr.mk fireball after a hk, and jab>rekka would beat that out

just found a solution for dummie claw players

izuna/slash loses to close standing fierce every time. unless you hit the button too early and you get crossed up before the fierce comes out

Great info man, very helpful indeed!
