Fei-Long and your BP/PP

I know I can be like 3000+PP and maybe 10,000BP with rank I have the skills. I just cant stand rank games. If things are not going there way they begin to throw. Yes I do know its part of the game and I can tech it. I just like to fight it out. Nosone was in a endless battle with me a while back and I was giving a 5000PP a excellent fight. That player won. I messed up a few times because my Mad catz fight pad gets stickey when I sweat. I pushed Nosone to the brink a few times as well. Mirror matches always get me.

Good news is I will will go back to rank games as soon as I get my dual modded controller from Gummowned. I guess I am a pad player. I have been training on the TE stick but im so off with it that I dont want to develope any bad habits that stick

You do have good, sometimes explosive offense. I think that’s something I lose touch with as I play higher ranked players since defense becomes extremely key to win fights. Its always good to play that kind of style though. I don’t doubt that you’ll make it to 3000 soon. I know what you mean about mirror matches though; I think they get to everyone. CW invincibility and 50-50s can really be a pain in the arse.

As a matter of control types, I just want to add that I used to use the Madcatz controller for basically the life of SF4, and I still have it. Several reasons why I switched:

  1. Poor circulation in my hands makes them get cold easily and my thumbs get rigid.
  2. Sweat makes things get tricky during the most heated moments. Dropping combos because of it was the worst.
  3. Couldn’t hit HP for Rekkas when I was hit confirming since it was so far away from LP.
  4. Hitting st.LP xx Tenshin would never come out, and neither would cl.MP xx CW, probably due to my thumb overlapping directional inputs out of order.
  5. My Madcatz pads kept breaking. The rubber input “cushion” kept ripping under the pressure that I was using when I played.

That said, I think that if you’re willing to live with limitations like that, pad is great. If you can put up with 2-3 months of hard stick training though, you’ll save yourself a lot of trouble in the long run.

I will have my Hori pad next week and it will be dual modded. Its far better then the MAd catz. As for the stick training. I will stick with it and if I see I do better with the pad then I might stick with the pad. That said I have a sexy ass Fei Long template already and I will get Mark Mans autograph at the NY Comic next month. So again if the pad becomes my love I will have a nice item that will sell t a Fei fan : )

P.S. Thanks for the kind words. I was kind of nervous during those matches as I had you looking at my matches but at the same time it motivated me to play harder and better. But those damn mirror matches get me. Im used to all the other characters speeds but when I face my main I get flustered by his speed.

Slowly, slowly crawling my way up in BP; pretty much like a turtle or snail right now at 6,500. And the PP is hovering around 3,000 PP whilst I progress and learn.

Back dash is becoming more prominent in my game thanks to the good advice from nosone and some others, and holy crap did that help me open up a Guile earlier on today like I’ve never been able to before. For some reason though I’ve been hitting HK CW, cl.HP about 60-70% online today, when normally I can’t hit it 20% of the time in training. That extra damage is huge though, and it sometimes catches people if I miss the link slighty late too; definately something I wanna work on a lot more.

I have around 4400 and 14000. I main fei everytime he appears in a game. But lately my pad is not doing good.

Anyone knows if the keio saturn to psx converter works good ?

I made it past 8,000BP today, with 3,200PP, which after my month without having the internet and only having the company of the SSFIV AI is pretty encouraging. In that time I got pretty comfortable with the CW to cl.HP link and it’s really improved my damage output, and on top of that, watching a lot of match footage of Feis of all levels has really improved matchup knowledge, general strategies and footsies.

How are you guys all progressing? Anything different you’ve been trying in matches and what not?

I feel I improved my corner pressure a lot. crLK 2xstLP crLP rekka 99% of the time, baiting some DPs and I can finish the opponent in a few seconds. I am also getting VERY consistent in the 2x crLK crLP rekka 1f combo. That helps a lot guys.
I am working on the crMP counter hit rekka combo, for some reasons I always used to go 2x crMP when I had the chance. I have mixed feelings about the HK CW clHP link: I can get used to it while playing online, but going back offline is really hard to re-adapt my timing. And I believe that not always going for maximum damage in all situations will improve my patience a lot. Something like…if I cannot deal 50 more damage now, I will in the next 10 seconds of the round.
I am also improving my ground game. Yesterday we had some great sets with a Ryu friend at my place, and after 10 matches or so he stressed it out: “You never jump, man”. That made me to feel proud of myself.
Next VERY IMPORTANT step is to limit the use of CW, enough abusing it.

Yea thats where i am at now, over use of CW has made me lose more matches then i can remember. Taking what mago said about CW and how he thinks fei should be more footsie focused really opened my eyes to how he should be played. patience, always being ready for a counter whether with normals or specials, spacing and really trying to use some brain power to try and weigh my options and the probability of the opponents next moves are the things im really focusing on atm. i haven’t played ranked much as my internet service has been switched, and is really hit and miss as of late, not to mention the new TV.
As far as abuse of CW goes, people that are abusing it just wait until AE comes out, being able to blast through your opponents offense with no meter and being able to do a combo will no longer be an option. So might as well play like you can’t now, so the learning curve will be less harsh when the time comes.

Consistently hovering around 4500PP and 11000BP, though I’ll drop by choice if I find a stronger player in ranked that I enjoy fighting even though he beats me. Patience really is a virtue. Fewer wake-up CWs and DPs are keeping me alive longer and allowing me to conserve more meter. I’ll also forego using EX Flame Kick early on just so that I can build an extra bar instead of spending an extra bar. Sometimes just plain old blocking works in your favor too as far as having meter advantage.

I’m also dabbling a bit with LK/MK CW as reversals (just forgetting about HK CW since the nerf will make research obsolete). I’ve found that it works well in place of reversal DP for certain attack strings (i.e. Rufus Dive Kick> Dive Kick, Viper’s cr.MK> TK, Rose’s cr.MP> Spiral, etc.). Since the frame disadvantage on block is minimal compared to a DP, it’s a fairly good substitute for stopping pressure that isn’t so tight but still makes you second guess. Some would argue that it’s not good, whatever. It’s worked for me, and I’m still experimenting.

trust me, fei mirrors give me white hairs… after playing you and momentusCeltic for a while, i think i have issues with rush-downs and dealing with fei’s CW (ironic isn’t it). But nonetheless ggs. Wish, i could have played inthul more as he played one game and then left. Still a good learning experience.

I keep hearing about these high level Fei matches online, I’m assuming endless battles. I’d like to join sometime if y’all have a schedule or something, unless it’s a matter of you guys wanting it private. Just let me know.

Alright, sweet.

After about a month of playing Fei I hover around 3500-3800pp and 8600bp.

Still nowhere near a wall though, I have a list of at least 20 bad habits I’m working on.

Using rounded numbers (I don’t remember the exact number)
BP - 5800
PP - 2500

My player points are always going up and down. The highest I’ve been in at 3100

Still, sometimes PPs and BPs mean nothing imo. The reason why I am saying this is because I’ve been fighting against other people in endless battles who have very few points, some of them in the zeroes, and they play like pros. Not everybody likes to play in Ranked imo.

Plus endless I find is an all round “good shit club” , people will give you tips, chat away , send messages. Ranked just seems to feed the evil, if someone looses 2 in a row in ranked all of sudden they are not willing to press the button. I played a Blanka the other night in Ranked who after 2 beat downs would’nt play me, I had to send him a message to say I’d pick Ryu if he played me.

You’d never get that shit on endless!

My PP hovers around 1000 and my BP is about 5000 with Fei. I started with Street Fighter only a couple of months ago and didn’t get really into it until this month, so I’m learning. Gamertag is datapanik if anyone cares.

I think my main problem is not knowing how to pull of any worthwhile combos and also I don’t seem to be very good at dishing out anti-air.

3300 PP and 8200 BP at the moment. Since I changed gamertag I started to win more and more, LOL

So thats who that is lol

Yeah lol, I just thought that my ATi7500 is too long to spell in tournaments, so it’s better like this, quick and to the point :stuck_out_tongue:
