on another note, i’ve managed to get knocked out of a tournament by rufus again… can anybody please PLEASE teach me that match? it makes me sad :[

Against Rufus, you should throw out a few :lp: srk’s occasionally because at specific distances, even if Rufus blocks it, he can’t even punish with a sweep. Also, it’ll trade a lot with dive kicks, so get ready for an Ultra or EX hadouken. These random srk’s will keep him semi-honest but they are still risky. So, keep them to a minimum but you should still be doing a few.
You should also be doing a lot of cr. :mp: in that match. From a distance, buffer a Hadouken every time you do it as it will often beat out a lot of Rufus’s crap like cr. :hp: or roll.
When being pressured with dive kicks though, try doing :lp: + :lk: + :mp: for an option select cr. :mp: or throw tech. It’s not totally fool proof, but it is better than the regular crouch teching for this matchup. Jump back :hp: can also be okay, but you can eat a jumping :hk: from Rufus.
But the main thing is that you should be very offensive when you get a knockdown. You can jump at him for free on his wakeup with ambiguous cross ups or cross up tatsu’s. Or you can just go right next to him and do meaty cr. :lk:'s or whatever, because EX Messiah’s will go right over you if you’re right next to him crouching. Also, when you put pressure on him, chain a lot of cr. :lp: and :lk: together so your :lk: will try to catch him if he tries to mash out a Jesus Kick or instant dive kick. Then, try to end the combo with a cr. :lp: to cr. :hk:.
Also, do NOT grab Rufus. Instant dive kicks will rape it. Just keep doing the chains so you keep him honest, until you finally train him to just crouch block. And even then, keep your grabs to a minimum; it’s too risky.
And, don’t jump at Rufus in neutral situations. He has like 3 stupid anti-airs that range from being super consistent to super damaging. Only jump when you got him knocked down.
And don’t give up your space too easily. Try to not to be constantly moving backwards, because he’ll rape you in the corner. So, try to poke your way with cr. :mk: and :mp: to slowly advance forward or keep your ground.
But yeah, just watch Daigo vids for like all of your Ryu matchups. 
Good Rufus’s are retardedly hard though, so you’ll even see him losing a lot to them, but still try to adopt the tactics you see him do. You don’t have to do the option select EX srk’s or anything. I actually don’t encourage doing that. If you block the Jesus, just do an EX srk when he’s doing the 3-way mix up. You take a bit more chip damage, but your EX srk will beat any of his follow up options anyways. It also will force a good Rufus to burn another 2 meters for a FADC back.

Edit: I’ve been plinking Dustin, and it has been good, my EX chicken to HP is at least 70% reliable now.
Nice man, seriously plinking is godlike. I feel that chicken wing > s.fierce is a really hard link because it’s completely visual; there’s essentially no muscle memory to it. When you have a link thats completely based on a visual cue like this it’s really hard to do it on different set ups.

This Sunday, April 18th is my 2 v 2 Tourney. A tourney for people who aren’t going to AI for Shoo’s Ran Bat (which I wanted to be at, but I didn’t want to cancel my tourney). Anyways, walk in sign ups start at 12pm, Tourney starts at 1:15PM. Same rules applied as last time. I will post a full thread in the tourneys forum later on with the finalized rules. Find a teammate and make it out!! This is the last run for SF4 in our arcades because we don’t know when we will be able to get SSF4. I’m also throwing a singles tourney, possibly Alex Arcade’s first ever Ran Bat the following Saturday, April 24th!! Mark your calendars!! Shoo’s last SF4 ranbat is on the next day, Sunday, April 25th, so I would reccomend some of you make it out to that also. **
