I’ve got lots of photos to be uploaded. Will let ya know when they’re up!
@no_name - yup, you all almost died. my rage meter was off the charts. Richard is a cool guy, but fuck; if he pulled that shit twice i would snap for sure. Also who is this?
@Shane - thanks man, that means a lot, i feel like the past couple weeks i’ve stepped up make game a bit. I hope it isnt my imagination. i put so much time and effort into this game and i hate being second class you know. Still trying to catch up to you…
@George and Dan - Awesome photography haha. Thanks for contributing to the scene with FFN, 2v2 random was the best tourney so far! Thanks for recording Dan, we appreciate the effort.
grats to the winners!! dope ass final and dustin holy crap you were beasting!!! great stuff!!! as for tim and I. i think weve had better nights hahah! o well it was still really fun!!
It’s a labor of love, what can I say.
Richard would have been the death of us of all, but if i saw that happen again, i would have been out the door faster than all of you.
Mr. Guile, I think I almost gave you a heart attack in losers finals… but i know in the back of ur head u were like “Andrew is gonna fuck this up, I’m okay”… damn that Andrew Strife and his godly failed executions. hahaha, Grand Finals was really fun to watch, good show. It was really really close nothing to be upset about. Good shit all around.
ya dan! thnx for recording all the matches! oo and i told u i was gonna fail, nothing to learn from my elf haha
Oh, there’s plenty to learn. I think I figured out one of my main problems tonight though, just need to try and fix it in the days to come.
As for the videos, i’m gonna start uploading a few tonight while I sleep and am at work tomorrow, but i’m starting from the first matches. I’ll be sure to post in here when they’re all up. For future tournaments, i’m going to try and get direct feed recordings. I wanted to do it this time, but I have to basically lug my desktop computer to Kinkos, along with my PVR. With that, and all the stuff I need for my setup, it makes it difficult. I’m hoping I can do something with my camera to get direct footage that way, but no promises.
can’t wait to see the finals match. all i remember is hearing the hype and the saltiness from across the room. hell this was well before finals =P
You’ll all be happy to know that I got Dustin’s death threat on video.
The first five matches have been uploaded, more will be uploaded tonight as I sleep.
I don’t really look to them as threats. I mean, it’s just Dustin explaining,
if this happens, this is what follows. :xeye:
In the end all turned out okay. I will be bringing tranquilizers in the future though.
Just bring that potassium next time George, isn’t sign ups supposed to be up today??? I sign myself up starting now.

Okay, so Dustin, even though what happened looked like total BS in our first match, it was not. The problem that many people have is their love in teching/crouch teching on defense. I have obviously watched you play beforehand and I have studied you. I knew that you would try to tech at that given situation so that’s why I did the uppercut. It was (for the most part) not random because I did have the feeling that you were not gonna block. So, please read the following wall of text:
The thing I hate is that nearly everyone is constantly crouch teching like crazy thinking it’s THE best option ever and that NOT doing it is stupid. Yes, you DO have to do it on many occasions because it is an option select that will cover several circumstances. But sometimes, you have to just take the throw because it’s not worth risking eating a counterhit or SRK.
Even though I’m not that good at 3s, (I forgot where exactly I heard the phrase) but there’s a phrase called “eating the throw,” which I’m sure that most have not heard of. I lost the link to this video, but basically, there was this Japanese Ken-Ken mirror match in 3s perfectly showing this. One Ken was dominating of about 100% to 5% health. Then, the other Ken somehow put the other Ken in the corner. The losing Ken then did SIX consecutive throws. Then, the losing Ken faked the throw then walked back and did a cr. mp link into super and then went on to win it with a few more hits. If the winning Ken had just sat there and blocked and continue his “eating the throw” method just one more time, he would have been put in a better position (because the cr. mp would cause pushback thus ending the losing Ken’s offensive momentum) and then just needs a little poke to win.
Also, (Andy probably remembers this match ) I had a match against a Boxer in which I was in a horrible position, basically no health against like 70% plus I was in the corner with about 30 seconds left. The Boxer then decides to let me out of the corner basically walks all the way to the other side cornering himself. I then correctly “guess” about 5 times in a row. I think I did a uppercut, grab, late grab, uppercut, and then block his desperation EX Headbutt. Was I just purely guessing? Well, there are basically 3 options: grab, uppercut and block. So, I have a 1/3 chance of guessing right and I did it 5 times in a row, which has a 0.41% chance of happening. I then later basically do the same thing to him in the next match we had against him in which I “guess” correctly yet again. So, did I just “guess” probably about 8+ times with no wrong guesses or did I spend the time reading my opponent giving me a much higher chance of success?
Okay, so what I’m trying to say (not just to Dustin but to everyone) is JUST BLOCK sometimes! Especially if you were in such a position as Dustin was in against me (about 50% to 5% with me having no meter), just block! Look, if you try to tech/crouch tech, you will only get the following: eating an uppercut or successively tech the throw (which deals NO damage thus not winning you the match even IF you guess correctly). Or, you could just sit there and block which will grant either eating the throw and thus putting you in probably another 50/50 situation or blocking the uppercut and then with an easy punish for the win. So, yes, if you do eat the throw, you will be put into a 50/50, but this is why being on the defense is so crappy; you ARE suppose to be put in stupid situations because you have put yourself in such a crappy situation. And actually, eating an uppercut puts you in WORSE 50/50 because of the position Sagat can get in.

Just to prove that what all I had said isn’t BS, here’s the match against me and Valle where I do implement this method:

In just this small clip, it shows two tactics that ALL of you need to implement more. That is the defensive tactic of “eating the throw” and the offensive tactic of countering teching/crouch teching.
And on a very last note, sign me up George.
You are so smart.
Richard you are right in that i shouldve just blocked and let you kill yourself, but what happened in our first match was a PERFECT example of why sagat is completely fucking broken in this iteration of sf4. Don’t give yourself too much credit. Staggered TU fadc is the best tool in the game, hands down.
As you know TU fadc is completely safe on guile and on counter hit does ~350 with a non ex/ultra follow up. I read you much more consistently than you read me and out played you hard and the ONLY reason you won that match is because of sagat bullshit. In ssf4 i would’ve won that match. (due to damage and stamina nerfs)
Yes, i shouldve just blocked. I was actually talking to sonny about it immediately after outside of fed ex.
That was the biggest load of shit I’ve read in a while. I’m impressed.
If you liked that try his other technique–.
