Yes, I would love to get someone committed to streaming UMVC/SSF4. The commentary I think we have covered from the Virginia Tech people coming, but not confirmed. In terms of setups and main stages, we have a whole area we are considering the hype area. This is where all Grand Finals will be played, and they will be put up on the projectors for all to see. Ideally, this is the main streaming/recording/commentary setup. Unfortunately, due to the layout of the room I highly doubt we can get two such setups (more because of the lack of people’s equipment), but time will tell.
I will be having a test setup this Friday (a week before the tournament), and we have a volunteer meeting Thursday to make sure I have enough people to run the show. This is going to be off the chain.
I put down that I wouldn’t be bringing a set up for marvel, since I only have PS3 version. Let me know if you don’t have enough people providing 360 versions and I can bring it. I am all for a single console tournament though if it can be done.
Yeah, the capcom stuff shouldn’t take too long, it all could probably even finish before the scheduled dinner break if it goes smoothly. I do like the idea of an hour of casuals before starting UMvC3 (if the schedule stands); honestly, not warming up in that game can be detrimental. Also, if the TO needs help and is cool with it - I can run one of the capcom brackets.
Looking forward to this, will be bringing a setup myself.
Awesome feedback guys. The time slots are not 100% solid. They were made because of the expected Melee turnout. If we feel like we need to perform a switch the day of, we will. However, that schedule is more to show to the people coming “Hey. Yeah. We got this. We have time. Let’s get together and do this dance.”
With regards to bringing setups and such, please do use the pre-registration link. It’s a very quick survey (less than 60sec to fill out) and we will be raffling off a whole case of bawls energy drinks to the pre-regs that come. If anyone can stream UMVC/SSF4, please call/text me on my cell number provided in the thread. That is really the last thing we need for the tournament.
Thanks everyone for the support. Tell everyone about this and give it one last push of hype. The Avalanche is coming, son. =D
I’m a smash player from UVA who would love to come to this event, but am carless. If anyone is coming from the North side, I’d be very grateful to hitch a ride and would definitely help with gas money.
Also so the biggest thing I learned – $10 entry fee. People showed up in spades for Marvel/SSF4. I was definitely not expecting that. Had an amazing Grand Finals in BOTH games. Melee was a little less hype, but it was definitely worth watching. I’m very excited to say I’m interested in hosting more, and they will continue to be this lucrative in terms of payouts and refreshments. =D
Spread the word if you liked the tournament, and if you think something needed work PM me, post here, etc. I love the feedback. Thanks everyone who came^^
Hey, this is East, one of the guys from Greensboro, NC. On behalf of us fellas who came out today, we wanted to say that we had a great time, and the tournament was incredibly smoothly run. Let me know when the videos are posted to youtube!
