If the data is wrong, then that is something that can be patched.
Before frame data was widely available on the internet, would you have said no to a Capcom strategy guide with frame data, simply because it might contain errors?
Better button customization options for each player.
Option to sacrifice visuals for better frame rate on Consoles (like you would on PC)
Better Gamepad/Arcade stick support on PC (like you would on consoles)
Drivers for backwards compatibility with older USB arcade sticks on the PS4 and Xbox One.
If you going to offer DLC characters, the ability to get all the DLC characters with a single Download.
In-game SOCD filtering
Remove
On Disc DLC
Online passes.
Ridiculous DLC costumes and other assorted crap that have nothing to do with game play.
FP2 for basic locked down game, everything else is microtransaction DLC.
While we are at it, no Microtransactions
Console exclusive characters on Multiplats. Console mascots can be exempted from this as for example I don’t expect Link or Mario to appear on the Xbone
Re-releasing the same game very few years with minor edits or additional characters (I am looking at you Capcom, you are guilty of this since the SNES era).
No unlocks, expect for maybe the Boss who non-playable in the Arcade version.
I enjoy fighting game music but fuck, Sometimes I need something else. It’s a pain in the ass to turn off the music in game and turn on my stereo just so I can listen to what I want while I fight.
-Frame/Hitbox data: Just include the equivalent to a Brady guide or something in the command list. You can have the “abridged”, bare-bones list for quickly seeing the commands, and an “advanced” list with frames, properties and hitboxes, like a combination of Injustice and TTT2.
-Button Mapping at Character Select
-Releasing a bare-bones game at retail with the promise that the rest of the game will come later needs to stop
Changing the voices from ENG to JPN for individual characters. Why isn’t this a standard by now? I want my ENG Tager and JPN Noel without changing the language track for the entire game.
I’m going to disagree here. This could have a negative affect on gameplay. I hate those assholes that create colors that make their characters blend with the stage or in SFxT with those obnoxious ass neon colors that hide hit speaks.
get rid of gameplay mechanics that play the game for you like auto-combos and SFxT auto tech and auto block gems. Such an unimaginative way to add depth to a game.
I think that it can be implemented correctly depending on the game. KoF XIII had an easy to use color editor that didn’t let people create stupid color schemes. You can also edit color palettes in GGPO to where only you can see it. Basically, whoever made the atrocious color scheme is the only one that can see it while the other player views two normal colors.
In my opinion, there should be restrictions to atrocious color edits for online gameplay and tournaments.
Remove stages with an overabundance of red.
No matter what quality of TV I play on red stages just throw me off.
Even more so if I’m fighting someone wearing red.
It’s worse when the developers themselves do it. Yes I’m looking at you Injustice. True story, I was editing a highlight reel from a recent local tournament that had low quality footage (Elgato fail) and I realized just how much the characters can blend in with the backgrounds.
One of my favorite parts about console KoF XI was how much it let you customize about the character’s color scheme, the same applying for the costumes in Soul Calibur V. I can understand the concern, though, so the way I see it, it’d be best to allow more robust custom color while adding the option for players to ban them from their rooms or filter out people using custom color schemes
I, personally, would enjoy a 2D/2.5D fighting game without projectile characters. Yes, i know, it’s easy to avoid projectiles and all and they are really fun, but i’d really like to play a more realistic 2D fighter (without realistic graphics, though), without pirotecnics and fireballs.
Being more in the center of the topic now, things i wish every FG has:
1- a sober color edit mode (like KOF XIII);
2- Frame data and hitboxes in training mode (Skullgirls did that!);
3- ENG, JP and another language options por individual characters (or maybe the original language from that char, ex: ryu talking japanese and sean portuguese-br);
4- GGPO!
5- Clothes/colors/characters just acquired by unlocking in-game and not by DLC.
But at least MvC3 has it only on a case to case basis, the entirety of Injustice suffers from this bad lighting that makes it obvious that it was done by a team with little experience making fighting games.
Why play a 2D fighting game at all then when what you’re asking for plays more to the strengths of 3D fighters?
