Alpha Bison always reminded me of Super Mario much more than any other version. I mean the color, the cape and the head stomps, freaking Mario clone.
ST OG Ryu’s kinda cool actually… i prefer him over ST OG Ken (who is tiered much higher) for the fast fireball and invincible DP. actually ST OG Ken is awesome too… his fireball trap is supposedly pretty good, but i like him for his ridiculous jump fierce. his ‘vulnerable’ hitbox on that move is tiny - whereas Ryu has no chance in hell of jumping on Deejay, OG Ken (not sure about new Ken) can do it all day. nothing compared to the “strong fierce shipuu” Ken of 3S though.
A3 Guy doesn’t have one hit kills, but he can do pretty well (75%?) off a counterhit stand jab on a lot of characters (he kills some outright). Alpha 3 Rolento was probably my fave Rolento… he could just go crazy when he got meter and had the most calorie-burning VC in the game (i still find Sim vs Rolento matches sad to watch… one player spazzing out and requiring mad execution to do anything, while the other could be stoned and still win). counter hit stand jab into patriot circles were a lot of fun.
Alpha 1 (Warrior’s Dreams) engine was funky though… Ken Ryu and freaking Nash had magic series. that said, V-Nash is still the epitome of Nash for me. think of it - a charge character that doesn’t need charge to win! awesome normals + blow through VC = win. he had the best versions of the normals Guile should’ve had.
