Favorite. Tie between Baby Bonnie Hood from Darkstalkers 3 and Dudely from Street Fighter. BB Hood is deceptively cute and sweet. Really she’s a psychopath that hunts Darkstalkers for profit and fun. I like the psychological aspect characters like her bring. Makes you think twice about that sweet lil girl selling cookies, or that nice guy who’s always helpful. Never know who a person really is.
Dudely is the physical manifestation of swag. He’s the type of guy that after kicking your ass. He wont stomp you out like a savage. He’ll see you had enough. Clean his hands with purell, give a rose to a lady in the crowd of on lookers. And walk away with her on his arm.
Least Favorite. Pretty Boys and Mokap from Mortal Kombat. Those pretty boy types just annoy me. Nothing wrong with caring about ones appearance but guys like Vega from SF or Ash from KOF. They’re more vain than most women, hell they look like women, especially Ash. Now Mokap…just wtf? Who thought that was ok!?
Just my personal bias. Geese is my favorite character, and the funniest part is that he plays different in almost every interaction. The classic (ffs/rbff1) is a strong zooner, kof/svc is more of a rushdown character, and rbff2 is closer to a grappler…all of them are stylish and fun to play as.
Others that i find really interesting: gen, X-ism sodom, karin, kibagami genjuro, minakata moriya, jubei yagyu, baiken and some shoto variations (ryo sakazaki, sho kamui, mizoguchi makoto, akatsuki, marco rodriguez, dan hibiki, etc).
While some characters makes me a little salty, i don’t hate any character in particular.
A lot of the SF3 cast look out of place for a Street Fighter game. That’s how you know who they decided to add to SFIV from SF3. No one was surprised by their choices.
depends. Mechanic wise, the guys with longer chains from alpha and sf3 (guy, gen, ibuki, dudley, yun, yang) looks way more out of place than urien, remmy, alex, sean, etc. The only one that looks stranger mechanic wise in sf3 is oro (because of double jumps)
I’d wager the exclusion of Alex falls on Abel. No evidence to support this but just an idea. People might counter my idea with the shotos but they are the cornerstone of SF and one of the constant traditions of SF.
In asthetics, it makes even less sense saying sf3 have odd characters. How come blanka, dalshin, seth and his alts + mecha zangief are not strange, but oro, necro and Q are “out of place”? I’m not even sure 12 takes it a step further or not, but even then it would be 1 of the whole cast of sf3 to be “out of place”, no?
Well mecha gief is just a skin. As for the others, you make a good point. I can’t really explain it. I guess Blanka is seen as more goofy than weird. Dalhsim while having inhuman abilities, personality wise he’s pretty well grounded like most of the cast. Maybe that’s why they get a pass. Seth however is really not liked and falls in the same boat as guys like Twelve, Necro, and Oro design wise.
