Favorite/Most Hated Characters in Fighting Games

But that’s the best reason to like a character.

Favs
SF: Juri all the way (best personality I’ve met in a fighting game by far)
Tekken: Lili (ridiculous, weak, blonde, young, rich as fuck and beats big guys like King, Marduk etc…yeah, I like her)
Soul Calibur: Cassandra, Nightmare (looks over the top badass while still being…badass as fuck :c )
Blazblue: Ragna (personality), Tsubaki (gameplay and design)

Hated
SF: Blanka (ugly ass troll), Seth (obviously)
Tekken: All animal characters, what are they even doing in there Q_Q (I’m not too familiar with the story of Tekken)
Soul Calibur: Voldo (too random for my taste)
P4A: Teddy (same as Voldo)

Neutral (because I can)
Soul Calibur: Pyrrha. Hate her personality and voice, like her looks and her basic yet solid weapon design (sword and shield) as well as her moves.

All this Third Strike talk is fun guys but you know who I really hate?

This scumbag, Mr.EasyMc60%Damagecombo. This dude had 100% kill set ups, nasty high low game, an annoyingly good command grab that led to massive damage, he eats punches like vitamins due to his high health, a guard crush corner loop and his P Super damage was like being hit with a nuke. This game made realize that Ibuki vs Chun is playable, unlike Tizoc vs He who shall not be named.

and

Mr. Everything I do is safe on block, even if it looks like it isn’t,

You hate my favorite SF and SC characters, and you like my most hated SF, Tekken, and SC characters… It’s like you’re the exact opposite of me.

As for the animal characters: random shit…

Kuma was a bear that Heihachi trained, to show his dominance - that he can train a bear in martial arts… How fucking boss is that? Kuma was hei’s bodyguard. There was something else with a Kuma and a Kuma Jr… Because IIRC, Kuma actually died in Tekken 2, but he was demanded a return, so his son took his spot in Tekken 3, though wasn’t official or some crap like that? Kuma also develops some arch nemesis for Paul. I used to think that Kuma Sr. died at Paul’s hand in Tekken 2, which is why Kuma Jr. in Tekken 3 wants to kill him - but that wasn’t the case. Kuma in Tekken 2 died of old age…

Panda was a Panda that Xiaoyu raised. Sorta like a dog, but she’s a character from a game with an over-the-top story, hence… panda… She’s also her bodyguard. Oddness ensues as she falls in love with Kuma…

Kazuya hired Boskonovich to conduct experiments, and out comes a genetically altered lizard that has DNA from dinosaur fossils (Alex) and a genetically modified Kangaroo (Roger, Roger Jr.). There’s more to the story, specifically about them, in that Kaz thought the creations were useless and ordered them destroyed, but Roger and Alex escaped in Tekken 2. They met King (Or Armor King?) and he taught them to fight. They competed in Tekken 2… Something then they were kidnapped or whatever and in Tekken 5, Roger’s wife (go figure) and his son Roger Jr. infiltrate the tournament to go get them… Long story, and then Roger Jr. kills his dad.

The Kings/Armor Kings aren’t animals, they’re luchadors with leopard masks. Though, again, after Tekken 2, the originals became King 2 and in Tekken 5DR, Armor King comes back. The two Kings are brothers and the two A.Kings are brothers as well.

Anyway… I think there’s much weirder things in the Tekken universe than just the animals… Mokujin/Tetsujin, Yoshimitsu, Azazel, Jacks, Boskonovich and Abel… yeah… All fucking weird ass characters.

Tekken’s an odd case for me, because I love the Tekken story, but after Tekken 3, I hated Tekken until Tekken Tag 2… Go figure.
Coming back to it though, there’s so much new shit and so many new characters…

Fav (In general): Xianghua, Sakura, Gouken, Taki, Law, Mr Game and Watch (Love beating people with this one), Cinder, Riptor, May, Jam.

Hated: Blanka (besides the fact that I always lose to him, there’s something about this fucker that makes my blood boil), Yoda on SCIV (he was easy to beat, but so annoying), Kirby when played by my brother, TJ Combo, every single animal on Tekken…and that’s about it.

I have sadly never really followed street fighter games and KOF games (until very recently), the list would have been a lot longer otherwise.

I guess there is good variety in fighting game characters after all, there’s something for every type of player

Kuma back story doesn’t sound too bad, it actually sounds…cute when you got the old man Heihachi being so determined to teach his bear pet how to fight. \o/

The rest of those backgrounds…they’re a bit too much for me, especially the dinosaur dudes holy shit.
All in all Tekken has good character variety and interesting, or at least unique, backgrounds for them. And that’s saying something when considering the fact that the roster in that game (especially ttt2) is huge. So much better than for example Street Fighter where you got like 10 semi-interesting characters at max, rest are more or less copies when it comes to fighting style and boring as fuck when it comes to story.

Thanks for the little background preview you provided me :stuck_out_tongue:

MSP can still eat dick

Which is why when I play Marvel these days, I pick Spiderman/Ryu/Psylocke.

Hei taught Kuma back when he was a younger man though. In Tekken 1 & 2, he looked like this:

That’s when he taught Kuma… and in Tekken 3, when he’s first an old man, it’s Kuma’s son or a new Kuma or something… because the original Kuma died.

But yeah, that’s why you see Kuma having some of Hei’s moves, like the Twin Pistons and the d+1, 2 combo.

And yeah, Tekken has a good story, as long as you realize that the TTT and TTT2 stories have nothing to do with the canon.

Soul Calibur has a pretty good one too, though I don’t know much about it other than that I love using Voldo, Hwang, and Tira when I play that game.

Favorite: Yoshimitsu (Tekken/SC), Nightmare (SC), Fulgore (KI), Vega/Claw (SF), Q (SF); I don’t know why, they all just look really cool to me. Ten Count (BAT3), Because he looks like MJ.

Hate: Krizalid (KOF’99); I was expecting more from a KOF boss. Zero (KOF 2000); The character design just looked dumb, I’m glad they replaced him with Original Zero.Zantetsu (LB2) Because my brother would always destroy me with him.

A lot of wrong things here:

1] Panda was Heihachi’s gift to Xiaoyu, since he considered her a girl prodigy of sorts after she attacked one of his yatchs. Since Hei trained Kuma, that also explains Panda’s fighting style being the same as Kuma’s.

2] Roger Sr. (aka, Roger Jr.'s dad) is ALIVE. After Tekken 5, Roger Mama divorced him.

2 is a lot?

I don’t see anything about Heihachi giving her to Xiaoyu at all. Heihachi thought she was a prodigy at fighting, told her to enter Tekken 3 and promised her the amusement park of her dreams. She already had Panda when she met him. See her T3 ending - She dreams of a land that she and Panda can play in. I don’t recall anything of Heihachi giving her Panda. Sounds like some fanfic to justify the palette swap to me.

Also:

EDIT:
So upon further investigation, we’re both actually wrong. Panda was her pet. Heihachi trained her to protect her during the Tekken 3 tournament.

  1. Oh yeah, you’re right… Roger Jr. Uppercuts him through a roof in Tekken 5, but then he’s back in Tekken 6… His wife finds pics of him with some other lady kangos and knocks him through another roof.

Sad Fact:
The Roger family has more realistic family dynamics than anyone else in the Tekken series, and possibly more realistic than most fighting game characters. When you get past the whole kangaroo thing, of course.

Yeah, really… The only thing over-the-top about them is that they’re kangaroos.
That said, I really don’t know much about the whole Michelle/Ganryu/Julia thing… That always seemed pretty straightforward to me.

I think he’s actually worse/broken in KOF XI. Good God…

I think it was the other way around…

I agree with half of what you said. Kevin is fucking stupid. But Gato isn’t that bad and is only a threat at super high level play where he can quickly build meter by cancelling his QCB+B move and his AA and wakeup game isn’t that good unless he has a super loaded or you’re gdlk at guard cancelling. His punch is safe but not the followup and he has to get in your face in order to combo off of it. Plus he can’t do anything to stop runaway fireball and he doesn’t have a guard crush loop either.

Sir I play Tizoc, I hate every other character and everything hates me, including the game.(Lol Throw Glitch).

Favorites: Sol, Ryu, Juri, Cody, Noel, Jam, Ragna, Hazama, Terry.
Hate: Blanka, fighting litchi, zappa, remy, seth.

And the mishimas need to get over this throwing people from high places thing.

My hypothesis is that it began when heihachi’s wife made horrible pot roast. Something in im snapped so he through her off a mountain. Hes been doing this to everyone ever since. his need to throw from higher places explains why he went all the way to space in tekken 6. Kazuya also has the disease. Jin could possibly also be a carrier.

Venom/Hulk/Doom is my latest “fuck around” team. its a monster in the corner
