What is power training and where does one go to do it?
Brotherhood of Steel Citadel. You should have the option when you start the Picking Up the Trail quest.
Word. Thanks, G. I hope it makes a difference. I take stimpacks like the Memphis Grizzlies take losses.
I just got this game and I’m hooked. Been playing for 3 days now.
What armor are you guys using (other than the power armors)? I’m just using the armor that the mercs sent to kill me have. I have no idea where to get better ones and just the hockey helmet for face protection (DR+3 and only 1 WG compared to 3 from the metal helmets) despite my character looking like shit. I got lockpick, small guns, science, repair and speech at 100 now (although I realize, its smarter to just leave it at 75 or 90 next time and just rely on books, apparel, bobblehead bonuses and perks to get to 100.
Also, where the hell can I get worthwhile NPCs to join my group? I only had the dog (he died to random raiders who have mini-nukes) and Sydney the relic hunter in that specific quest (she dies easily though).
Is there a poncho costume? I always use the scoped magnum and I want to make a Clint Eastwood character. Most of the costumes suck. Maybe if I have a female character I could just have her running around in the naughty nightware costume.
EDIT:
Fuck yeah! Tesla armor!
I just got this game for Xmas, I need a quick primer on character creation…
Things to definitely do, definitely not do…that sort of thing.
The higher your intelligence is in S.P.E.C.I.A.L. the more points you get for levelling up.
Tag skills only give you +15 points in the beginning unlike in previous Fallouts.
Bobbleheads increase your SPECIAL by 1 point each and Skills by 10pts permanently, so you should keep your eyes peeled for them.
Lockpicking is a great way to get XP easily.
helpful but spoilerish tips
What I do is I usually tap Intelligence to 9 (remove from Charisma and a little from Perception) in the very beginning, then once you are out of the vault walk toward the river and swim all the way down toward the south of the map avoiding any encounter with anyone (so you don’t level up) just by swimming in the middle and swimming all the way to Rivet City (giant ship across the Jefferson Memorial) and get the bobblehead from the Science lab inside Rivet city immediately (dont forget to save, because sometimes it crashes when you overhear the Dr. Zimmer/Dr. Li conversation), now swim all the way back to where you started and by this point your Radiation levels should be around 600-700 rads which is perfect for what Moira will require on one of your quests once you get into Megaton.
Also, save all your magazines/books until you get the Comprehension perk (level 4, but get it at level 5) which grants you 2 points instead of one per reading. At level 4 you should get the Educated perk which gives you bonus points every time you level up to get the maximum efficiency out of it.
Doing the quest on a town called Grayditch vs the Fire Ants also grants you either +1 endurance or +1 strength in S.P.E.C.I.A.L. once you finish it.
I bought this game for Christmas, reminds me a lot of Oblivion, which I played the shit out of. Except it has the VATS system… not really interested in it at the moment, but the leveling system seems 10x better than Oblivion.
I’m totally dissappointed they don’t have boxing gloves anymore. It would’ve fit my unarmed Manny Pacquiao character perfectly.
Anyone try mods in this game? I’m hoping somebody would make one or there’s one out there. Boxing shorts would be cool too so I could make an Apollo Creed character (I think I saw an american flag underwear mod somewhere).
Why are all the people you can get to join your party human-sized TAMPONS?! Paladin Cross died on me like Will Smith’s dog in I Am Legend, mayn. And I don’t even know how the hell it happened. From now on, if I get another party member, i’m just gonna murder them myself.
Get faux or whatever his name is. The dude is a tank.
The damn dog dies on me too. He just goes off by himself sometimes and I have no idea where he goes to only to have the message pop up “Dogmeat has died”.
The Sentry robots are the most annoying for me (even if you have pulse mines/grenades), they are tough as fuck and I can’t even get close to land my punches. Deathclaws are a close second because they never show up on my radar until its too late even though my perception is up to 7 and they always attack when your back is turned.
Where does Faux live? Also, is there a quest to get rid of that pedophile Billy Creel in Megaton? or can I just kill him and rescue the girl (or sell her as a slave like the Grayditch kid. lol cold.)
Fawkes comes near the end of the damn game If you’re after the dog, you have QUITE a while to go.
I remember when Super Mutants were giving me a hard time. I had to avoid a church near the highway town because a bunch of them set up camp there. Now they’re no trouble at all. I took on 5 at one point and made quick work of them.
He’s impossible to kill and rocks a badass power hammer and gatling laser. The only other NPC in the game worth employing is the ghoul Charon.
Not that I’ve found.
I’m pretty sure you can’t get the girl to follow you even if you whack Creel.
Thanks!
Is that the vault where you find your father or a different vault?
I haven’t come across Charon yet either. I’m guessing he’s in that underground city the ghoul at Moriarty’s is talking about?
EDIT: nm, I remember who Fawkes is now. lol. He’s the super mutant guy who will also try to rescue you after the Enclave. I didn’t remember him because the game almost ends after that. I should’ve avoided the main quest after getting him.
Fawkes is actually a girl.
Anywho, I love this game. Level 20 Good and completed loads of quests and stuff. I think I’m going to do a neutral run now.
I thought I was the only sick, twisted soul who found Creel to be hecka pedo-ish. I kinda wanna murder him. I sure as hell murdered that dickhole Doc Church. He was a pressurized douche nozzle.
Yeah that guy is a twat. I’m thinking of going max charisma/100 speech + 100 science character next. If you hack Moriarty’s computer he’s got files on all the NPCs at Megaton. I was hoping I could use the info to blackmail/destroy them but the dialogue never came up so I’m gonna try high speech next time (my speech was only single digit because my current Charisma is at 1).
Arghh… I’m lost again trying to get to Arlington library from Grayditch as I’m following the marker. I’ve done this 3 times already and I keep forgetting.
How often does the Mysterious Stranger show up? I’ve only seen him show up once and when I didnt’ even need him, complete waste of a perk so far IMO. I don’t know if it relies on your Luck S.P.E.C.I.A.L. at all. I was getting owned horribly in the Deathclaw caverns (even with my sneak at 80) and that bastard never showed up once to help!. Good thing the VENGEANCE laser gattling gun was there as I was completely out of ammo. Best damn weapon I’ve seen so far. It completely destroys everything and pretty damn accurate considering both my heavy gun and energy weapon skill level are only at 22.
Yeah, Vengeance is awesome, and the ‘mysterious stranger’ perk is crap.
Does anyone know how many ‘named’ weapons there are in Fallout 3? I have four of them so far, but I’m sure there are more. I’m just nerd enough to try for all of them in the course of my next play through.
EDIT: Yeah, Charon is in the Ninth Circle bar in the ghoul city. He’s great.
