Hello all,
I’m still trying to get the mechanics down for FADC’s with Rog. I’ve been messing around in the Training Room and am finally able to perform them (in the practice room anyway), but I’m not sure what the best uses for this technique are.
One I like is to FADC the Overhead punch into a Level2 crumple and then hit the Ultra 1, but I’m not sure how practical this is as far as damage/burning meter is concerned. And actually I don’t dash out of the Focus Attack obviously, so I guess it’s not considered a true FADC?
You guys got any good set-ups or finishing combos I can practice? What are the best moves to FADC and what’s the best thing to to with them? I’m still fairly novice so I’m not looking for anything too complicated to pull off.
Any pointers would be appreciated!
Right now in AE, Hp dash straight xx FADC ~ C. lp ~ Close HK~ Cr. MP is the highest damage combo. It’s seriously hard as hell though. I think you have to FADC the first frame of the dash punch and then hit a 1 frame non-plinkable cr. jab link. Not to mention Close HK~ cr. MP doesn’t work on a bunch of people if they’re standing.
Honestly, the only FADC I use is to back dash a blocked punch vs. Hawk/Geif or for a forward dash cheesy grab on people who have bad reactions. Aside from the max damage combo, FADC’s don’t give Rog much offensive power for the amount of meter wasted. They’re decent if used defensively, but most dash punches can be spaced so they’re safe anyways.
Sometimes I get a bit crafty and fish for FA’s after a TAP - It’s unviable but seeing as a crumple can be Ultra’d or TAP’d into Ultra, I try it occasionally, can see it here at 0:15:

Alternatively I do like Overhead into FA Cancel but that’s also unviable. However, sometimes a cancel fishing for an FA can be safer than letting the Overhead run it’s course.
I appreciate the response, Squirtguns. I’ve been keeping an eye on the Rog threads for a while and you and 3gnimat1c seem like the pros around here. As for the combo you posted- yeah, sounds complicated to get those links to work out well for me. Remember, I’m a low-level player with less than a G for player points, but want to get better quick. I’ve watched a bunch of videos of top-tier Boxer players mixing in the FADC in their game; PRrog, Gootechs, and Ice0age do some SICK shit.
What I’m looking for are some pointers to help me practice and win some low-level ranked matches. For example: if it’s late in the 3rd round, what should I do if I land a lp Dash straight and have the meter to FADC, knowing that if I land a combo I can win? Once I cancel with a dash forward during the Focus Attack, what is a good combo starter? Am I guaranteed a hit confirm with a low jab, or should I go with the throw?
Right now, I can confidently hit the overhead punch, canceled with a Focus Attack Level 2, and then land the Ultra 1 for 418 damage if they are in a corner, 350ish if not. I’ll pull this out if the opponent has less than 400 HP left and I have two meters (three if I want to use the X Overhead and it’s late in the round and I’m about to shit the bed). I know it’s not conventional to FADC with Rog, but IF I want to, what’s the next step during a rush down?
Holy shit, I had no idea a TAP could be juggled with Ultra. Damn, that helps, thanks! Unconventional, but AWESOME! I will practice that.
And your “Funny / Fun Moment Compilation” has some dirty-ass videos in it. Definitely inspiring.
TAP can juggle into Ultra from AA, which is technically the same state as hitting someone late from crumple so yep, I like to FA most jumpin’s and fish for potential cancel crumples because a back or forward dash TAP into Ultra is very easy - In addition it’s also a 2hit combo into Ultra which beats most 3-4-5 hit BnB’s to Ultra or even Overhead CLK Ultra though if I’m not mistaken a FA connecting adds it’s own scaling so it may or may not still be less damage, not sure. I must hit the training room and compare damage someday.
75% of my Ultra’s come from Crumples these days so you see it in a lot of my movies and matches.
for the follow ups, you can only FADC ex/hp.ds (forces stand), ex.ru, and OH (CH lp.OH forces stand). OH gives you the most leeway to followup with links (+14) and you can use the following self-charging strings after FADC:
[]cr.lp, cl.hk, cr.mp
[]cl.mp, st.lp, cr.mp (forces stand)

cr.mk, cr/st.lp, cr.mp
using those strings allows you to followup, after FADC, you’re point blank, so all those strings should work on the entire cast, crouching or standing.
IMO, it’s not really worth it. It’s big damage in terms of rog, but he’s got better uses for those two bars, especially since you probably have to use the high damage links to make the effort work it (cr.lp, cl.hk, cr.mp).
Also OH xx lvl 2 FA works 100% standing on the cast, and crouching it’s character specific. I dunno if my published spreadsheet had that on it, eventually i’ll update the public dropbox spreadsheet.
I also noticed you can FADC a blocked cr.hk normal if you feel like burning two meters for a throw… I think Ephemeral mentions that on his Balrog Mindgames page. Again, not practical normally, but near the end of a match if you know it will kill the other guy it could be useful.
Sorry if I seem overzealous about all this, but I’ve just recently been able to pull off these FADC’s and they have definitely added a new (albeit not necessarily completely useful, I guess) dimension to my game.
Thanks for the responses!
