F.A.N.G. Video Thread

How many hits can red parry absorb without flexing? If you have charge buffered could you go for s.mp xx lk ryobenda to break it since it’d be 3 hits?

Hey everyone! I was lucky enough to get one of my matches recorded at a big 51 man Manila tournament last weekend.

Here’s my commentary and analysis of my match against the guy who ended up placing 2nd!

Sometimes you have to let people hang themselves.

I know this is the result of bad play and was a mistake in some ways, but this is still amazing to me, even if now I understand how it happens:

Infiltration trolling.

Your Fang is good, although just a couple things that would help:

  • Specifically in this matchup, I use coward crouch against Alex if they’re abusing elbow; low profiles the hurtbox and you can react to punish the whiff.
  • Throws were working in the first and last round (don’t think he teched any). I usually make a mental note if they’re weak at teching. Not sure why you didn’t throw as much second round.
  • Anti-Air (this should be the first tip)
  • Dat last combo lulz

Just my 2 cents.

As usual, great F.A.N.G play from Rhyllis. Even though this guy obviously didn’t know the match-up. Running away from V-skill as if it was actually dangerous, calling cr.MK>cr.MK a “frame trap”

3 frame normals wreck the low mk "frame trap,
im looking at you fucking chun li

Haha, those matches really made that night amusing. You’re right though Azurean, largely abusing his lack of match up experience. 15 games later, convinced that FANG has the best frames in the game, easy mode srub character, etc :frowning:

My overall feeling was “how does he intend to do damage” ? You didn’t use Poison wall and Upballs much - which is smart, because Karin can bypass them with Ressenha and Orochi. But most of your neutral openers were cr.LP and st.MP which lead to nothing.
My main advice would be “be more aggressive”. Once Karin gets in (and she will get in) you’ll be in a tough situation, so stop jumping back and put her in a tough situation before it happens. Example at 1:20, you hit Karin in the air with a ball, you’re plus a million on hit and you stay back. Coward crouch kick her ass. 1:23, there is a wall between you two and she’s afraid to attack. Coward crouch kick her ass etc.

Now for more specific advice :

  • Don’t always use j.HK in jump-ins, mix with j.MK. It will be blocked but you’ll be + on block for a throw/st.MK>LK Ryobenda mix-up.

-Too many sweeps in first round, and you didn’t cancel them with V-trigger to make them safe.

  • cr.MK is your friend. Use it. It links into cr.MP>LP Sotoja on counterhit.

  • 1:58, you do blocked st.HK into cr.LP. What’s the point ? It will lead to nothing. Either do a st.LP into throw, or st.LP>st.MK>LK.Ryobenda.

By the way, you have a very good anti-air game.
