Experiencing any bugs in MVC2?

This game is fun, and online works well.

However I am surprised at the bugs that made it through. If this was Midway of the 90s I would expect this, but this is simply a port of the Dreamcast version of the game. Not only that, but Backbone should have experience in this realm since they used the Dreamcast code for SS2T: HDR.

Did they simply not test the game? Did time run out so they sent it in thinking “hell, we’ll just patch it”? I have no idea.

This isn’t a rant, but I have to admit I expected more polish in a port of a 9 year old game.

Looks like I sold my dreamcast too soon :frowning:

They shouldn’t have broken that DC @ evo 2k9 , one less set-up for 2k10?

(:rofl:_:rofl:)

The bugs don’t really seem gamebreaking though. A few are particularly bad, the netcode could’ve used some more work in general (including the rooms/lobbies system, but I’ve been spoiled by BB’s netcode). It seems like offline works okay though.

Honestly I wonder how many of the bugs that people post for offline like combo timing being different aren’t just perception. I don’t know if you guys remember SFIV after the champion patch and everyone claiming all sorts of stealth nerfs that simply turned out to be not true.

EDIT: Then again I can’t do the combos to begin with, so I’m really the last one that should be talking about that lol

That could be true. Sometimes a person has fuzzy memories of how the timing was, and sometimes they mess up and think it’s the game. I can’t answer that as I was never that great in MvC2. To me and my friend that I played against, the game seems to play fine. He was hitting his old combos without missing a beat. That doesn’t mean much, but that’s the experience I have with the game.

The only bugs I can comment on are the ones that I can easily see.

DSP is exaggerating on a lot of the “issues” he’s come across. Not only that if you watch some of the videos where he says he can’t block or something either

  1. He’s mashing out an attack and so gets hit.

  2. His connection wasn’t good with that player in the first place where the ping must have been > 200

I’ve played over a hundred matches online and as long as you and your buddy are <100 ping you will be okay.

There are really only one major game play issue that is REALLY bad:

The random lag for the first 3 seconds at the start of the match. This is so bad. The worst part is the lag is different every game so it’s not like it’s a predictable slowdown/speedup that you can get used to… sometimes the game stutters sometimes it just skips frames:

I was playing (Demon Hyo but it could be against anyone) earlier today and I got off short short psylocke and I’m like, great, time to snap… by the time magneto started snapping his guy was already rolling in the other direction.

There will be no MvC2 on DC at EVO 2010. Period. :woot:

Well then people better start praying for a patch, because there might be no MvC2 AT ALL with some of the issues people are reporting in OFFLINE play. And I have a feeling this game won’t get a patch either.

While using Sentinal I did: d, df, f + kk; and it did a move that wasn’t what I want, it did a move that switches out your opponent’s character, and I only had my finger on those two kick butons. I did it again, but everything was normal. Has this happen to anyone?

Is this certainty based off of serious testing for the new version? Will the accuracy of the port even matter to the evo staff?

patch xbox360 mvc2

or gotta gotta have mvc2 on DC!!! :china:

thank you so kindly!!!

How adorable…you get to see him everyday.

Probably not, since they sold away the DCs for cheap and destroyed the rest… I think.

^this^

either that or they’ll prolly scrap mvc2 altogether…

whats gunna be used at seasons beatings? DC right?

Sorry if this has been posted already. On my mobile.

The glitch where you freeze when someone leave when they join your lobby can be avoided apparently. It seems that if you press A fast enough to get past that second screen, it goes back to the menu. Would need more testing though

Been playing team duc almost nonstop. I cannot launch into jab, short, strong, time delay, forward, into grab.

Such a simple combo… it works in training mode but every time I try it online nothing happens.

I had it done to me online a couple times, why are you posting this in the bug thread?

Well if it can be done then I guess it is not a bug. Seemed like someone else here was saying his fav combo from the DC version was not working, Jin I think.

Anyway, has anyone had their ping jump from 100 or so to like 800? I thought it was my internet provider but I stopped playing and then my wife watched netflix stream while I played Red Alert 3 over the computer and everything was running fine…

I’ve had the glitch that characters turn to one shade of color, depending on what they were hit by. Jin’s Jumping HK turned the opponent into a few shades of orange, and Storm’s Jumping HP (I think it was) turned my opponent to shades of light blue. They didn’t turned back normal until they were hit again.
