Has anyone bothered to read the Street Fighter Encyclopedia? There are TONS of characters in the SF universe that they could incorporate. I just read through it and they list 2nd and 3rd tier characters that make appearances that could be of heavy consideration. Some of them even could be exciting. If anyone wanted me to write out the huge list of possible characters let me know. I’ll start a thread and just write it all down.

I’m sure the name has been thrown around the forum earlier, but what about Batsu from Rival Schools? Capcom mentioned that the mysterious character was someone from the Street Fighter universe that has never been featured in a Street Fighter game. Since they ruled out Mike Haggar by this point, and Sakura is from Rival Schools as well, I was thinking Batsu would make a decent street fighter cast member. What do you guys think of him making an appearance? Would he possibly work?

It could actually be Strider with that recent statement that the character might not be completely new to fighting games in general. It would make almost perfect sense for him to be the 5th character.

-New Strider game coming out around USF4 release, meaning cross advertisement between the two games.
-He’s a very popular character that a lot of people would be happy about, and it would bring more casuals in.
-Could use a toned down derivative of his UMVC3 moveset to mesh better with the SF4 system, so almost no time has to be devoted to creating a new one.
-Never been in a SF game to my knowledge.
-Could be an easy rival to Guy/Ibuki for the battle of ninja supremacy or some gay shit like that for story purposes.

I seriously hope not. SFIV couldn’t possibly improve on what they did design-wise with Marvel. Not to mention he has no SF universe tie-ins.

That last line is false according to one of the capcom wikis. It said he appeared in kens ending in one of the alpha games.

Please people do some research before speculating who you think it will be so that you can at least make an informed decision.

It has been confirmed multiple times by Ono and CAPCOM that it’s definitely NOT Strider, Haggar or Asura.

Anyway anyone else have the feeling we are going to be really disappointed when when they finally reveal who it is ?

That’s how big reveals always work. Like when Blizzard promised a brand new game with a brand new IP and then announced Hearthstone.

As for a character… um… Hey, Sean’s Grandpa doesn’t actually appear in-game, does he? Honestly, I gave up thinking about it when they limited it to a character who would fit into a Street Fighter game but who has never been in a fighting game. Never played a ton of Capcom games growing up, besides Megaman and SF2.

Well if they did I haven’t seen it and it wasn’t reported on SRK/Destructiod/Eventhubs. Doesn’t mean it didn’t happen though.

No need I can easily check this as I have all the Alpha games and I will see.

The endings are hardly canon though…might aswell base the universe tie-ins on who appears on his Alpha 2 stage.
