they also said the build used wasnt the latest, so alot of this is speculative. even so really loving what they did with this character, though i do hope they change the idle stance rather than use the cammy one.
That would make for a TC uppercut ultra combo,or even meaby TC instant air drill ultra
Yes, so you have to choose between unsafe on hit and block, or safe on hit and VERY unsafe on block. Having the option would be nice.
I don’t think it recovers in time for uppercut to combo (You also need to be standing to do it, so you might not have enough charge), but drill, yes. It’s possible it resets like the 1st hit of Cammy’s heavy SA though.

Nothing wrong with that. I don’t allow cats on my 360 either.
There ya go, Doopliss.
That is completely unedited. I just pulled it directly from the Flash SWF file.
That claw makes her look like psylocke.
Thanks man, I really appreciate it.
wtf is decapre? also whats all this vega cammy shit?

HNIC_Mike:
you dudes going HAM. lol
anyway its not like this is the first time they have reused assets. a lot of the ultras in the game now came from somewhere else, or they re-used them in mvc3, or came from mvc2, etc
its a fucking 15 dollar update. you should check around to see what 15 dollars gets you on the XBL marketplace now days. 2 hour expansions to finished campaigns, 3 new maps+1 rehash in cod, a month of live. i could go on
point being the update brings 5 characters, 4 stages, new trials, complete rebalance, new mechanics, edition select, 3v3, and a partridge in a pear tree. most other companies would have charged close to 15 for just one of these things.
get some perspective
No, we need the pitch forks for this one, because we are gonna stand against the evil crapcom once and for all. We showed them with SFxT,now we will show them with Ultra. Who’s with me?!
not me, i like decapre, and prolly best to start another thread titled “we want more for $15”
We should give decapre her own hate free thread and make the current one a venting thread. I’d actually like to talk about her instead of view angry comments for days…
agreed. i know not everyone likes the new character but so be it, well see you in ultra online when its released - though im sure theyd cry op if they lost to a cammy clone
I feel like characters like the real cammy could give Decapre issues like making her lose her charge and taking advantage over it. I wonder if you can FADC hands.
doesnt seem like the videos of decapre show her style as turtling, though im sure alot will. guessing not cus no sonic boom
She can’t be a full charge character like that. I’m assuming that her hand’s move is a backwards forwards charge motion, her teleports are an down up charge motion, and her command dashes are probably motion commands.

It can be super canceled, so it should be fadc able.

Let’s factor in what we know. Back in 2004-5, it cost $950,000 to make a character in a AAA FPS game for the PS2. Now considering that we’re now a generation ahead (i.e. more expensive) and that fighting game characters are more complex than FPS characters (again, more cost), then we can assume that each new SFIV character costs at least a million to make.
With that figure, it would then require around 66,000 unique downloads at $15 for to cover the cost of each additional new character (that isn’t a clone or a port from other games). And that doesn’t even cover the cost of the entire update. At this point then, you’ll have to ask yourself, will Karin or Q or Urien guarantee and additional 66,000 purchases. And by additional, we mean folks who would have bought the game because of that character, not people who are already buying the game for the update. At this point, it’s pretty easy to see why doing a new character who isn’t a clone or ported in is a bad idea financially (especially considering the fact that Capcom has no money, heck MadCatz and other sponsors are paying more for the Capcom Pro Tour than Capcom themselves).
This is a different argument than the one I was responding to. The poster I replied to was saying nonsense about them not being in because SF5 Roster and sales. Which is bs.
Your argument here about money is one worth having and we can discuss other alternative characters that would have been better while saving Capcom money.
Alex ported over from SFxT using Kings model(and Alex Alt costume) here we go a big fan favorite that would have saved money and been a better choice.
Gouken’s Daughter using Asuka from SFxT as a base, here again another viable alternative.Saved money, better choice.
now granted these two would require some modeling work, but overall I doubt it would have cost Capcom much more than Decapre did.
In fact I know one less sale that Capcom is getting with the Decapre reveal. Mine. I’ve been loosing interest in SF4 for awhile now, none of the new roster additions really appeal to me an I’ve been without a main for a long time now. Depending on if the 5th was interesting to me or not , I was going to buy the Full Disc release. Now I won’t be. I’m sure there area fair number of people that will be skipping this release. Maybe when the inevitable patch for Ultra comes out, if they can add more characters then my interest might get renewed. For now I’m skipping out on Ultra. Only gonna play by my friend if he even gets it.
oooooooooooo… that could lead to some fun combos.

If any of those characters were put in, Capcom would have to spend $900k to $1million per character that they don’t have. And even if they could add that amount to the budget, it’s most likely that any additional sales will not cover the initial investment.

no…just… no… given the fact that that a single person, if that’s all they are doing, can create from scratch the model, texture it, rig it, animate it and get it into a game working in the span of a couple of weeks says otherwise(unless the 4 game artists i talked to are lieing out their ass…). Yes there is bug fixing and balancing but i find it hard to believe that those costs are upwards of 700k like you are suggesting.
Skullgirls does high frame count hand drawn animations. For THAT work yes it is a steal for the cost that he was justifying, but for any 3d game it does NOT cost anywhere close to a million dolars per character.
making a skin of a character would take an artist a week(and that’s a stretch lets be honest). At an average salary for a game artist(75k a year), that skin cost about 1400 dollars to create. Lets be generous and add a week of QA time to analyze the skin to make sure that there is no holes in it or alpha issues so at your average tester only working about 20 hours a week(especially ones that would be assigned to such tasks) at min. wage that’s what? another 250ish bucks? how the fuck did he get 175k?
there was no extra programming time for that skin… there was no engine upgrade, unless there are licensing costs it just doesn’t add up.
implementing levels and creating characters are very VERY VERY broad descpriptions of the division of work he’s doing so unless he’s factoring in engine level optimizations that a Senior Software Engineer is making into character creation costs it’s not accurate picture to be throwing around.
By your math gears of war should have cost WAAAAAAAAAAY more than 10 million to develop…
also now we know gears of war 3 only cost 44 million to develop so he was off by about 200% at his lowball.
EDIT:
I suppose i didnt factor in the artists health insurance, and workstation expenses, but those are divied up among all his tasks so so that gets sketchy…
