Asura was not made in the SF4 engine. Asura was made in Unreal 3 SF4 was made in Sensible Arts Innovation.
It’s pretty obvious to anyone who actually has seen the DLC. They re-use the original models/shader effects/animations for Ryu/Evil Ryu but the physics, graphics, ect are completely different.

While I agree 100% with your point about FF into SF and perhaps making Rival Schools part of SF. Final Fight DID have one advantage: It was originally going to be the sequel to Street Fighter 1. The original title for Final Fight was “Street Fighter '89” so it was part of the SF universe from the start.
Rival Schools has a bit lower chance to become part of the SF universe, though I do think it should be.

I suggested that Morrigan should just be adopted by Street Fighter and put in SF4 about 2 years ago.

I can’t believe what I’m reading. People speculating that the new character will be from another game (like Morrigan and Asura). Completely new to Street Fighter means a new character in the same vein as Juri and Hakan. A character new to the series. Since IV remains canonical it will be a new character which is not from another game. I will also place doubts on Final Fight characters. Ono has cited that SF and Final Fight take place in the same universe, this character is NEW to the SF universe and thus Final Fight! My best bets it’s a completely new character of a new nationality. Anything else would not make sense.

A character that has never appeared in the SF franchise of games- I’m assuming that includes SFxT, so I doubt Megaman. I agree with the OP that the wording sounds as if it’s not going to be an original character, but rather a character who appeared in a previous game made by Capcom that is unrelated to SF. My guess is Link from the Oracle Zelda games.
I know it’s a pipe dream, but I’ll guess Gene from Godhand. I was hoping he would end up in UMVC3, but P.Wright got the last spot.
