The attitude around here has already confused them, I’m just giving them what’s being asked for.

part of ranked experience is seeing the same few names pop up repeatedly. they don’t wanna play you, you have a red connection. you can guarantee you will see their name at least 50 times over the course of a play session.

I have an instinctual response to Meeks Dock at this point. as soon as I see the name, it’s an instantaneous B press. I’ve developed this reaction over the course of the last few months and a few thounsand encounters in the ranked screen. I’m better at not playing Meeks Dock than I am at anything else.

People always say this but there are very few Chuns online. (and even fewer who don’t try to play her SF4 style, throwing fireballs and stupid shit like that)

@IglooBob, congrats. Wait til it rolls around a second time.

@thread, had a pretty fun session last night with Ghostaga, Vald2bes1, & Poe222222

He’s a huge contrast to Makoto’s general gameplan since he WANTS to get close. People can, and have, forgotten you can’t get too close to Hugo. Otherwise, this matchup is in Makoto’s favor…she just has to not get cornered by Hugo.

But why is the fact that she plays differently than he the reason she has a hard time against him? I don’t see it. I don’t mean to knock the dude that said he has a hard time, but I think all this “3s academia” is what has a lot of players confused. A well read man can fancy up any post and make Hugo sound like the best character in the game, but just because he was able to convince a ton of inexperienced players that Hugo is the best, does not make it so.

When playing Makoto, I want to get close just as much as the Hugo does. I don’t want to be point blank, and frankly, I don’t think Hugo does either. Not a majority of the time, anyway. This isn’t SF4, you don’t have to play your characters any particular way. Why can’t we collectively realize this?

If you hit Hugo with SA2 (+Fukiages) Stun, juggle close jab dash close jab dash close jab loops.
You may have already won!

Do this too.

Does this apply to you as well Dander?

I meant she can’t really approach him the same way she could against most other characters. I’m not trying to make Hugo any better than he actually is with my past post, I’m just saying he may give her some trouble for inexperienced players considering they’ll probably think Makoto can just approach anyone similarly…minus Chun with meter anyway.

I’ll agree with the last part though.

Trust me, bro. It’s just the online that’s messing with my game. I just don’t like memorizing strategies, it feels scrubby. Like I’m not beating my opponent but rather winning the game. I have had enough of playing against the computer. And as much as I wish Ryan or some other offline player would vouch for me that just isn’t the 3rd strike way. Maybe when I give in and xcopy japanese video strats I’ll get that voucher. (Ryan does not XCopy anything, I’m poking fun at nicovideo 3rd strikers) If it means anything, last time I went to Ryan’s house I got that handshake after tons of rust, lack of sleep, lightweight drinker and blackened lungs.

Besides most of my posts contain super basic gameplans for the not so experienced players and I have poor English skills.

This is too sick. She looks so much like Evil Ryu there. And Urien’s hand looks like my dick.

You should get that checked, yo.

So I was watching the jwong stream and I noticed in reading the chat comments that these mother fuckers watch these games like kids used to watch yu gi oh. Why am I still so surprised by what this community has become? :frowning:

Chlamydia?

Wear gloves so your hand wont look like dick. Holy shit Gouken’s wrist. Akuma’s a beast but he still knows gloves are the way to go.
Ryu will get back up.

Dander, what you lack in grammatical prowess or balanced paragraph structure you make up for in syntactical creativity, philosophical provocation and layered meaning. False modesty doesn’t suit you my good man.
We must do a few sets soon so I can experience this improvisational skill set you speak of.

That chode joke blew up right in my face. ;_;

Awesome art, man. Thanks for the link.

Man, why the fuck didn’t they put on this shit in the 3SOE Vault instead of that crap? Shit’s awesome.

Nah, bro. I’m pretty sure it’s all luck and stupidity. You can re-write that post once I’ve won a few tournaments and streamed with the best of the best.

BTW, Ed Ma has to be one of my favorite 3s players of all time. Even among the top Japanese players, he’s a very fluent player and he never goes cheap. He always managed to bridge strikes and didn’t rely on parry to do so. He was also a huge influence on me. He deserves a mention in this thread.

I remember playing him in tournament one time, Ken vs Ken, and as we started the match I jumped in and he taunted. It was basically a free combo for me and I was hovering over roundhouse so you know it was going to hurt but when I noticed the taunt I got this hunch that he did it on accident. I just jumped in and dashed back. We played the match and he won. When we met between cabs to shake hands, he asked me why I didn’t combo and I said it was because I knew he did it on accident. He said that was stupid. To which I replied, I’m a gentleman, man. To which he replied, a stupid gentleman.

I’ll never forget that lesson.

3RD STRIKE

Mak plays more of a footies game and less up close and personal because her options from a distance are better then Hugos. Her ability to get in is much better then his and her distance pokes are better. Hugo has to get in to win, mak doesn’t. (this also applies vs Oro and Alex imo)
