last time we played i stunk, ive been hooked to metal gear solid hd collection.
mgs2 still looks fucking brilliant. no matter improvements in technology, you can’t beat amazing art direction.
MGS2’s graphics are simple as fuck, everything’s just a solid color, almost no texture. But dat 60fps gameplay.
MGS2 looked stunning when it came out. No idea what I’d think now… I saw a YouTube video of some FF8 the other day, and it was hilarious that I remember thinking that graphics could hardly get any better than FF8’s back when that first came out.
I was a huge fan of the first MGS game… man, the storyline of that was so freaking good, and not just for a video game. If a well-made film were produced with the same plot, it would definitely be one of the best action/spy movies in history IMO, on account of the plot twists and characters and epic fight scenes and such.
I loved MGS2 and MGS3, but MGS2 in particular went a bit ham with the Raiden/Patriots stuff…
If only David Hayter could star and/or write it. Oh I can dream…
At least there is Revengeance to look forward to.

if they had made a movie based on the series, but fixed some of the plot loops, itd be a great series, only if done right though.
ya know i find myself more immersed in the mgs series than any other series, games nowadays take the same bland direction at the ends of them, and its so easy to tell what going to happen, but mgs even when it had easy to read plot twists it was still interesting.
And the PSN competition just gets worse and worse… I’ve almost had enough of a foray into the PSN world of 3S coming from Xbox Live and must say… I’m gonna just start throwing up posters at local colleges and bars and being a creeper trying to find people who play 3S or would like to learn because no one who plays online consistently is any good (other than I because I love this game online (though I do hold disdain for the quality, there is no more fun game to play imo… Maybe SCV though) and even more offline).

but yeah I agree the best thing to do is suck other local people into 3s or find people who are already into it. I’ve got a SSF4 player from work I’ve been slowly bringing in, which doubles my local competition! aw yeah, movin on up.
Do you guys not have computers good enough to run third strike on ggpo? Its a joke how much better it runs compared to 3soe. The dropped frames, visual lag and sound rollbacks make the game completely unplayable for me. Just to give you an idea, I played a friend who lives locally on 3soe and he was red dot. The game was horribly choppy and just fucking bad. We went on ggpo on pc, he had 15 ping and I felt no lag what-so-ever, flawless.

You can talk to your opponents in game.
You can talk in the lobby.
You can challenge specific players.
You can see opponents ping before deciding to challenge.
You can ignore spammers/trolls. (Ignore button)
Change smoothing based on opponents ping, also without going back to the options menu.
The FBA has the same exact filters on 3SOE. (if that’s your kind of thing.)
Non-HD sounds/music/bars/portraits/etc.
You can record your matches.
You can customize all sprites/outfits. (if that’s your kind of thing.)
I like the fact that I can challenge good players when I see them on, rather than just sitting there playing bads till somebody good turns on their console. It’s just way more convenient to log onto ggpo and go into the afk area, do whatever I want on the pc till I see somebody I want to play log-on.
If you want the most authentic arcade perfect port/experience you can get online, pc is still your best option outside of the arcade. I also still think this is the best looking third strike, fuck those 3soe filters. (Scanlines/2XSaI Filter/Enhanced Blitter)

GGPO’s setup is better than 3soe but playing online in general is what I was talking about… it just irks me as of late
Yeah… You can get away w/ a lot bs online… Metric, I though 3S was taken off GGPO support o.0?

I remember someone on this board posting a vid of a guy with the tag: evasiveTJ. That dude is shit. All he does is guess parry in close range. EX fireball on the guy all day.
Ugh… My only problem w/ GGPO is the fact that I have to deal w/ PC emulation. The PC runs sooooo much damn faster than any iteration of 3S known to mankind. It’s a rather stupid translation but it’s still better than GGPO on consoles. Though, 3SOE offline is still the best iteration of 3s outside of the arcade board imo.

It’s smooth yeah, just hard to get used to the accelerated PC emulation. It’s a bit too fast for me to execute things properly or react to things are time my parries right. The combination of jumpy gameplay and accelerated frame rate just don’t mix well for me to thoroughly enjoy play 3S online period… Like damn near impossible to get Mak’s SA1 to link off Hayate on PC.
Thnx for the link on GGPO though. I was wondering why people thought Karnov’s Revenge was so amazing.
I don’t have problems with hitconfirming on there more reacting to overheads and dashes thats all. Ibuki’s f mk blows me up all day on there not to mention if the latency is above 80 she’s teleporting hahaha it’s still fun though
