you guys are just jealous of those Chun thighs
I didn’t hear much either. at one point I think Dander complained that I tried to parry out of an Oro setup, and then maybe Alex options to get out of it were discussed briefly.
and I was thinking “pffffft like I know Alex options”
you know what my gameplan is for things that look unblockable or ambiguous? parry down and pray.
I play Alex for the stand fierce.

Oh no, I didn’t mind at all. All your characters were good so it was all fun and challenging. If I have to say something I would’ve preferred you stuck with Yun but you resetted the game. lol
Good to know you’re playing 3s again Billy. The world needs more Q players that are good.
Also, all this Hugo strat talk surprised me. heh

My favorite American Q!
You should play Alex for the Back Fierce.
And Stomping.
IglooBob is pretty good at blowing up the jump ins on trip guard.
Could that be based on your local guys trying to jump at you all the time? Looking for crossup, being forced to jump, didn’t earn it-but it won’t matter if it hits-but its a bad idea because you can prove you can deal with it and should instill in them that you took away that option.
I’m sure your locals already know this, but if not keep that in mind for teaching as a stepping stone for those guys!

I had a hard time dealing with certain jump in angles versus Ken for a long while, so adjusting my spacing and anti airing with low forward or dashing under, I started liking those as anti air options more. Plus I think a couple AK players like to empty jump a lot. Empty jump throw, empty jump back dash, so low forward ends up catching them while they’re tapping forward trying to catch traditional anti airs. Another good one for the air parry guys is stand jab, stand jab, low forward. That catches a lot of people I think. They wanna keep parrying jabs forever!
the Alaska metagame has evolved into a slow paced kinda defensive game. which I think also accounts for my strengths and weaknesses too. I can deal ok with people who want to play conservative and engage in traditional footsies. and I’m ready for those jump ins or empty jumps because that’s a common resort when we start losing the ground game. But on the flip side I have really limited experience against people with great offensive games, except when I’ve played people from here online. So players like ChaiTea for instance just blow me up really fast. It’s something for me to keep working on and I think requires a different mindset. Really getting aggressive and forcing bad situations, or making them afraid to hit buttons, because if you wait for them to come to you you’re going to guess wrong a couple times and probably die. I had similar experiences against Ryan and Yuuki when I played them, they all seem like they have well-developed strong offensive games and I usually just bottled up into a down back and hoped for the best.
Well I’m sorry I missed a last chance for XBL eye melting thunder thigh action. I would have liked to be in that lobby.
Who won on that one game we played Bob?
Also mio, play your damn Ken next time. Your Gouki ain’t bad but I want full streeeeeegth!!!

it was a Ken mirror and you won. If I remember correctly I anti air parried one of your jump ins and as you landed I went for a throw too late and you did a jab DP. I yelled “so gay!”

i’m surprised you were able to confirm so well despite skippiness and stuff.
also i realized really quickly i don’t know chun that well really. no one to play around here and on ggpo/oe even no one i play with uses her except randomly.
same could be said of pretty much all of north america when it comes to remy.
jump fierce and jump roundhouse can really mess with timing for parry or even dash out or whatever. neutral jump is pretty much remy’s domain. if you come and meet him there, he can get a no-meter 1/3 combo. if you decide to look to parry you need to guess if he does roundhouse or fierce because the timing is totally different (the vertical range difference is huge). if you decide to just block you need to be ready for the mixup when he lands. if you try to stay on the ground and AA him he can parry it and depending on his height do roundhouse or fierce or if its real low, do whatever when he lands. including backdash if you block, which moves backwards outside of most throws on the first frame.
i think Q has good neutral jump moves too. not as good and not nearly as varied, but still good angles and timings. very different roundhouse and fierce which give him options to mess with parry timings and spacing.
of course i am exaggerating wildly but remy does have a lot of unique perks that take some time to see and grasp (not that i have…yet).
edit: oh yeah also if they AA and you weren’t waiting for it, so like you did roundhouse or fierce, you will probably hit them during startup anyway. so most often remy isn’t worried about parrying, meaning he is charging. meaning when he lands he will have full charge for whatever. also you can play dirty tricks using fierce, which recovers kind of quickly or deceptively so they get no parry and aren’t blocking when remy lands.
