EXAR Exaprize USB Stick Sanwa Edition for PlayStation 3

Just placed my order. Should be receiving this sometime next week.

No xbox love?

I doubt Microsoft would license this. Many smaller time stick makers in Asia makes Xbox 360 arcade sticks in whats could-be-called the infamous grey market.
Home of knock offs and boot legs. Exar, and many others get away with making PS3 arcade sticks because the PS3 will accept ā€œdriverlessā€ Generic HID devices.

also xbox is not popular in northern part of the eastern hemisphere

Really? Xbox 360 gets little love over there?

Only for super-niche shmups and dating sims.

this arcade controller wasnt made for big handsā€¦

So, was the Namco?

I was never a fan of the Namcoā€¦ same issueā€¦ but these being a little easier to acquire than a new namcoā€¦ it could be a issue that should be pointed outā€¦ six button eight button asideā€¦ you wont feel the same going from a te/ v3 sa to this without some adjustmentā€¦

thanx for the heads up markman, is it lighter than the namco stick? is it as light as the Hori EX2?

a little bit off the subject here, but did all the tekken hybrid sticks sold out, i think i missed out by 2 days, im so madā€¦

cant wait to see the insides of this stick to see how modeable it can be

=D. Agreed.

This is definitely a tempting stick to buy if itā€™s easy to at least change the joystick.

Not interested, I was but after some researchā€¦

  1. Thereā€™s a stupid amount of work and price difference between the base version and this Sanwa one.
  2. No Xbox 360 version, recently I believe the Xbox 360 version is superior(bought a 360 VLX and dual modded it even if I didnā€™t have a 360 at the time).
  3. Gammac has their own out of the box dual compatible KOFXIII stick
  4. Both my Hori Fighting Stick VX and V3 dual modded are good enough substitutes to me

As for 6 button layouts, it will always be Astro City P1(arching) and Astro City P2(straight).

If this stick was priced slightly cheaper, I would possibly interested but Iā€™d rather looking in the upcoming Hori Soul Calibur V stick(not a Fighting Stick, not a Real Arcade Proā€¦what the hell is it??).

Thinking about getting this as well just cause it looks aesthetically pleasing to me. Just curious about the weight and size (in case I want to add another PCB). Does anyone have any actual photos, and not just the ones from the website?

Weā€™ll find out next week when I get mine.

The Gammac is a grey market chinese stick though. Exar clearly has aspirations of being up there with Hori and MadCatz (meaning theyā€™re going to have to go the official route, no bootleg dual console PCBs).

Also, you have to remember that this stick is for the Asian market, and guess which console is more prevalent here. Thereā€™s a reason I donā€™t do dual mods here, because no one needs it because the competitive scene is run on PS3s.

And off course, the price is still cheaper than a TE or V3-SA over here.

True, the stick did really catch my attention when I saw the Wii and the TvC editions at my dealerā€™s house and I asked him about the KOFXII version on PS3 and he simply told me, ā€œbeing a $69.99 stick, you would think itā€™s similar to the FS V seriesā€. I had no idea what he meant until I found the SRK thread for the mod, here.
This is what I mean by the KOFXII engineering/design being so different from the Sanwa edition, why EXAR didnā€™t choose to use the traditional stick mount method boggles my mind but Iā€™m sure the Sanwa edition will have proper mounts being double in price. The stick is roughly the same size of the Fighting Stick V3ā€¦possibly a bit smaller but Iā€™m thinking there shouldnā€™t be a problem fitting a Fightpad in it.

Anyway, expect the Sanwa Edition to be similar but without the retarded bottom mounting plate.

Yeah itā€™s kinda strange, I used to be pro PS3 until I realized Toronto is dominated with 360ā€™s around here. I have a stock HRAP V3 that I havenā€™t used in the longest time, in fact, I gutted the JLF and buttons into other project sticks at the momentā€¦

Was this ever in stock at Play-Asia?

Yeah, I thought it was ā€œIn Stockā€ for pre-order for a while. There was a slight delay of a few days, but mine seemed to have eventually shipped out from them last night :open_mouth:

Anyone know where I can find the mounting plate welded on the metal plates of most standardized sticks(TE and HRAP sticks)? Getting a EXAR KOFXII stick and planning to add it on it since the KOFXII stick doesnā€™t have the typical mounting type most sticks have nowadays.

Iā€™ve never seen them for sale. The guy on here who makes replacement metal panels uses spacers not metal brackets so it would have to be some sort of custom deal. are you sure this stick wont have it? I donā€™t think I have ever seen a jlf mounted to plastic on a factory stick

Ah, no wonder why I didnā€™t find any from Akishop or Lizardlick. The only stick Iā€™ve successfully mounted a Sanwa/Seimitsu was on a Fighting Stick V-Series where Hori actually provided plastick mounting inserts that fit the universal mounting platesā€¦

Guess Iā€™ll do the same then, drill four holes into the EXAR plate and use spacers that will fit the same positioning as well then.
