tenka is neat
arcana, not so neat

Because it’s almost SBO time and niggas got that hunger.
Examu… aren’t they the ones making that game: Squid-For-A-Hand-Man vs. Other Schmucks?
Wow, this is why I didn’t bother keeping up after full.
Randomly, Answer appears
entertained
cause i felt like it, why you wanna fight? lol
seriously, doods gotta make money, i dont see what the problem is, its prolly that they know that people are dumb enough to pay it so why not fuck you guys over, its not like you guys will not buy their stuff when your already talking about their next game and HOPING that you dont get your panties stolen by these doods
seriously though, maybe if someone was smart enough they could help these guys from making the same mistake?
Exploitation is acceptable so long as it’s possible? Cool, tell us more about your finely woven tapestry of logic.
exploitation has ALWAYS been acceptable lol
but that black label shit is fucking hilarious, so its the same game or is it redrawn or something? explain that to me
But it hasn’t been appreciated. And this is why this thread exists. Would you ask a dying person to give you (compious amounts of) money in order for food, necessary for him to continue living alongside the rest of the human race?
Cave have been releasing games and then giving them “1.5” versions, which change bullet patterns, remove bugs, and in general, upgrade the game. The final boss of Mushihime Futari 1.0 was borderline impossible due to the bullet density and how it was designed, so they revamped it and made 1.5. After 1.5, they made Black Label, which wasn’t an upgrade from the original game but differed completely from 1.5. 1.5 had two characters, both with two shot types. Black Label had two characters, but different shot types. It also changed the scoring system completely (you need to mash your shot to absorb gems, instead of letting go of shot to absorb them) and added a “God” move which replaced Ultra, which was in 1.0 and 2.0.
Another instance is Death Smiles, which didn’t get a 1.5 release but went from an original title to “Mega Black Label”, which added a few more stages, characters, more bug fixes, and so forth. No upgrade, but that game sells for a good $1500 (if you’re lucky) to $2000. In comparison to Death Smiles, which is now about $600-800. I remember the day the 360 port of Death Smiles was announced - about 5 arcade boards were shoved on Yahoo Japan. And prior to that, you couldn’t find it for under $1000.
Incremental upgrades shouldn’t be this expensive, basically. Like I said, Examu have nothing but Arcana, so they’re taking what they can and will probably end up running with it. It’s shitty but it works; nobody has to like what they’re doing, or should be praising it.
if you continue to buy their games you have no right to complain
My brother is going to buy Arcana Heart 2 on the PS2 so he’ll save a lot of money. Knowing how things work the PS2 release will glitchy as hell.
Heart Nana you’re real lucky that you get to play in the arcades in Japan. I don’t really like any of these kinds of fighting games (well I would if I lived in Japan maybe) but you got something good there.
Obligatory post in this thread.
Also, most of the operators will fold like cheap suits, they almost have to (especially with the SBO commission being complicit in all this). Even if every operator to a man was to say “screw you, we’re not paying that much for this”, there is too much upside to an operator to break ranks. The operators would then have to strong-arm each other into closing ranks and staying closed.
It really comes down to the players, but there are too many of them to effectively organize and they are too hungry to not play.
I guess I should put away these Arcana doujins… :xeye:
Fake fake edit:
This is actually Standard in the United States right now, with how health care is handled for the elderly and living dead. So yes, many corporations do ask this and make millions upon millions doing it.
Regarding the exploitation, it’s one of the few constants of any civilization, as bad as that sounds. The heart of capitalism is man exploiting man. If one were to move to communism, the opposite happens.
i give you permission to be rude
whoa buddy don’t overshadow my metaphor with your newly discovered poverty
Capitalism is fun but eventually you run out of people. At least with the games I’ve mentioned in previous posts of mine, the updates have been fairly significant and might urge people to shift to them. Doing fuck all and adding things like “new colours to characters” is anything but an upgrade, but more of a filler over anything else. I’m sure people would be happy enough with the updates if their price was justified, but it simply isn’t.
And everyone wants to play the latest stuff. So arcades with outdated stuff get fucked in the ass, as their stuff won’t be played. I’d be surprised if even the busiest arcades in Japan get enough return out of them to make it worthwhile in the long run.
Another reason for me to hate on Arcana Heart.
This is why you guys should play karnovs revenge.
On one hand I’m happy there is a company making new 2D fighting games. On the other hand since their games are exclusive to there arcade boards they are trying to get the arcades coming and going by making them buy the games and arcade boards. I Like their games but their business model is a little poor.
lol capcom does the same thing lol
And so does Namco nowadays. The problem with your comparison is that Capcom and Namco(I’m including Namco in this since they update their games as well) is that they’re ACTUAL updates. Shit actually changes in regards to the game. And these are usually very big changes like character nerfs, new stages, new music, new moves, and bonus characters. That’s a lot of shit right there in the package. And usually, they’re updates that are done right.
Examu is trying to sell updates that have had bad programming and very little to no existing changes in the game.
However, if you’re trolling, then I play the counter troll card. Your move, Yugi.
