EVO West vs. East 5v5. Who should get drafted?

Hell yes, the best of both coasts. Let’s do this~

Marlin Pie actually travelling? No wai.

Unfortunately since no one on the east coast team has lame ass Phoenix I don’t J.Wong buckling down and losing any matches. Anytime he’s up in the 5v5 he’s going to win his match pretty much guaranteed. PR Rog or Chris G might get one match if they work their super hardest but that’s all I see. Gonna be pretty hype except for J.Wong making shit boring as usual. LOL.

If Richard N isn’t on the WC team somebody is doing drugs.

Is Yipes really worse than all those guys on EC? Or does he have no interest in playing? Sorry I’m not really up to date.

watch the marvelous adventures episode with him. he said he really enjoys sets more than tournies.

I did…im just saying it weird that he has been in long sets AND money matches…

EDIT: I’m slow wow.

I REALLY think FlashMetroid should have been on the 5v5.

Fanatiq seems like a better pick on the surface, but remember Floe is Justin’s practice partner.

i totally get what you mean. maybe he just does better with lots of money on the line.

Not having Ryry on the team is a fucking joke. Especially in favor of marlinpie and mastacj… Who havent even cracked top 5 at a major.

I will back Ryry against each and every member of “team east coast” for 100 a piece. Were in 574. Or pm me. We can do a gauntlet on salty suite.

I didn’t even realize that he didn’t make it. Um…yeah if he doesn’t make it he better take some dollars.

The last time he appeared in Stream for ECT his Magneto/Dante/Akuma was looking free against some random Tron assist spammer. It’s hard to say, when he was using his Magneto/Wesker/Akuma he looked an equal to Chris G, but ever since he picked up Dante something went wrong. He’s obviously desperate to get good in this game and extremely hurt when he was knocked out, so hopefully things will be different with some lab time and maybe a change in team.

To be fair both of them have improved a lot since ECT, and they are 2 of the most entertaining players to watch. The West Coast team on the other hand had 2 Phoenixs and 3 She-Hulks, and looks like a snoozefest outside of Combofiend and Wong.

I got bored, here’s all the characters they play.

East Coast:
She-Hulk/Taskmaster/Tron (Wolverine, Phoenix)
Amaterasu/Ryu/Wesker (Zero, Morrigan, Phoenix)
She-Hulk/Wolverine/Tron (Dante, Amaterasu)
Viper/Magneto/Amaterasu (M.O.D.O.K., Dante, Sentinel)
Dormammu/Magneto/Wesker (Spiderman, Tron)

West Coast:
She-Hulk/Wolverine/Akuma (Storm, Amaterasu, Tron, Zero, Dante)
She-Hulk/Taskmaster/Spencer (Wesker, Phoenix)
Magneto/Dormammu/Phoenix (Sentinel)
Wesker/Iron Man/Phoenix (Tron, Haggar)
She-Hulk/Wolverine/Akuma (Dante, Phoenix, Dormammu, Trish, Amaterasu)

it makes me sad to not be seeing yipes playing at all!

Like seriously? I wanna see yipes on the mic talking mad shit and being able to back it up.
I guess marvel 3 does that…

Let’s turn this into a hype post. I added stuff

East Coast:
[]NerdJosh - She-Hulk/Taskmaster/Tron (Wolverine, Phoenix) - NJ has had some trouble keeping his nerves together in big tournaments, but he’s recently been leveling up on the West Coast placing well at Wednesday Night Fights. He has match-up experience against everyone at this point since he travels so much.
[
]ChrisG - Amaterasu/Ryu/Wesker (Zero, Morrigan, Phoenix) - The chosen one on the East Coast. ChrisG is probably the strongest overall player on the East Coast, and he’s gone toe-to-toe and placed well at recent majors. His team seems unconventional (it has Ryu), but Chris knows it in and out. He always has new gimmicks to accent his incredibly solid play.
[]PR Rog - She-Hulk/Wolverine/Tron (Dante, Amaterasu) - PR Rog isn’t seen on the weekly streams so people may not know what to expect from him. He did very well at UFGT7 and in casuals, his Wolverine prompted Justin to say “fuck this character is broken.” Several players on the West Coast team have fallen apart to Tron assist before, so he may be the best gut-check for the East Coast.
[
]MarlinPie - Viper/Magneto/Amaterasu (M.O.D.O.K., Dante, Sentinel) - The walking combo movie. MarlinPie hates blocking because it’s wasted time not spent styling on the opponent. He has some really gross setups for unblockables on incoming characters that may give the Phoenix teams some issues, if his execution is on. Watch him kill a Phoenix just because - http://youtu.be/clkiMQhDI7I?hd=1&t=4m31s. Only F. Champ has experience against Viper players on the West Coast as well, which may give MarlinPie his chance.

Masta CJ - Dormammu/Magneto/Wesker (Spiderman, Tron) - Hates chairs and prefers to stand when dominating opponents on his pad. CJ has probably the best Dormammu in MVC3, but it’s not played how you would expect. He focuses on offense, extended combos and ridiculous setups on incoming characters. Here just watch him run a double perfect - http://youtu.be/LfyJrMLmcag?hd=1&t=2m22s
West Coast:
[]Justin Wong - She-Hulk/Wolverine/Akuma (Storm, Amaterasu, Tron, Zero, Dante) - Does he need an introduction? Justin’s been putting in a lot of lab time, but I doubt it’s with new characters. At NCR9, Justin was showing off new Wolverine mix-ups on incoming characters that no one had seen before. He may save tricks for MVC3 top 8 rather than this 5v5 and just fall back on his fundamentals, which are more than enough to stay on top of everyone in the field. Basically, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVmc5ZepdVs&feature=youtu.be&t=1m26s
[
]Combofiend - She-Hulk/Taskmaster/Spencer (Wesker, Phoenix) - Combo picked characters he liked when the game first came out, and he’s continued to go deeper and deeper finding new synergy and interactions between the characters with each new tournament. He’s got majors under his belt, plenty of match-up experience against the best and he’s rock solid.
[]Filipino Champ - Magneto/Dormammu/Phoenix (Sentinel) - North California’s champion. F Champ has the best Phoenix among competitive players currently. This player and team will most likely be a tough one to answer for the East Coast as they lack experience against great Phoenix players, and he’s the one to beat.
[
]Viscant - Wesker/Iron Man/Phoenix (Tron, Haggar) - The best way to describe Viscant is “smart”. Viscant is an older player and lacks the reactions or execution of younger players, but he makes up for it with solid fundamentals and experience. He wrote the book on Wesker resets… literally. He runs a variety of assist characters in the 2nd slot on his team which gives him plenty of counter-picking power depending on who he’s going up against. Playing a Phoenix team, he’s also a player the East Coast will have to be ready for before the match even starts.

Floe - She-Hulk/Wolverine/Akuma (Dante, Phoenix, Dormammu, Trish, Amaterasu) - Justin’s practicing partner. Floe is well versed in many characters and teams which gives him plenty of flexibility when it comes to counter-picking players. Unfortunately in high pressure situations, Floe has rarely played as good as he actually is. Floe, become what you were meant to be. No more Floeface or Flokes. Show us some heart and dominate even the best of the best.
coulda probably traded PRrog for someone else on east coast, have barely seen that guy at any tournies

To be fair, CJ did take 5th at ECT.

You don’t need to see him for him to be worthy. He easily has some of the best reactions and intuition of any player in the fighting game scene currently. Just his fighting game skills alone are enough to warrant being put on a team and it’s obvious he learns very quickly. I don’t really like his choice of going for the most boring “win for the sake of winning” character choices but he plays to win like Wong and that’s good to have especially for a team tournament. Again…it really doesn’t matter cuz J.Wong is gonna body everybody free but yeah.

although i feel justin and combofiend could ocv east coast themselves , i do believe chrisg and prrog stand a chance to put up wins against them. i do believe though the end result will be westcoast winning!

I cant disagree with the east coast team, though one of my top picks that i thought shouldve been in there was RyRy. I think he’s one of the top 3 best in the east coast.

Is there any video of the matches or results?

Didn’t Viscant’s Phoenix beat Filipino champ’s phoenix several times in both Winner’s Finals and Grand Finals at Revelations?
