Not really. An EMP Representative would have been the 5th spot on the team at best. Overall, they’re not exactly dominating. Only EMP I would have picked would be Rashaan, and that’s b/c his team is such a wildcard.

(that’s right, no NerdJosh. While I think he’s a great captain… I don’t think he’s in the top 10 of east coast right now. There are several pools at ECT he wouldn’t have made it out of. I would respect him 3000 times if he doesn’t place himself on the team, but this is fighting games and egos, so I don’t see that happening. Also, he’s had some trouble against those WC phoenixes that are in the running to be on team WC.)
Basically, I think the EC teams that are the best at killing phoenix to have any prayer in the world, since our phoenix players here are not exactly winning tournaments.
Also, I would send up Chris G (starting ammy) to beat Viscant, Steve H (with wolverine) to beat Richard N, and RyRy against Justin.
NJ has the most WC experience so hm not being on the team is a big handicap.
Also I like how half the guys you mention have never played a decent phoenix in a tournament yet are supposed to beat the best phoenixes in the country.
I’m feeling Marlinpie in the 5v5. He can do well against the onslaught of phoenixes with Viper’s unblockable snap set ups. He seems to have the only team who can really do something against phoenix on the EC

Dante wise, WC has Richard N. While there may be more solid Dante’s overall, I think his mix-ups on incoming characters are easily as scary as what Josh Wong (with Felicia assist) and Jago (with Trish assist) have shown on the East Coast. I think they all mostly have experience against him. For Magneto, they’ve got Fillipino Champ who seems to be on the same level as Master CJ and Marlin for that character. Wesker wise, they’ve got Viscant.
That’s some pretty strong competition in those 3 characters - I don’t think they’re missing any big pieces of the puzzle.
Since I originally posted that EC was missing Phoenix experience, people have been getting some play time against Evil Rahsaan lately which may help them, but I guess we’ll see in a few days.
The only real dominating EC player for me is Chris G., everyone else is various shades of good, but no one really stands out besides Chris. I feel like the West Coast has a bunch of solid players to choose from, while EC has Nerd Josh, Chris G., and whoever else you can pull out of the soup; I think they are all about equal.
It’s a moot point if EMP is not coming, but I think you are really underselling Andre. Ymmv, though.
People like to sleep on the EC and overrate the west coast players…because of that the WC always get more exposure. Did people forget what happened for vanilla SF4?
90% of this forum like to ride on that overrated hype train but then in the end…the west coast got DESTROYED by the east coast.
NerdJosh went to norcal regionals, and then decided to stay in CA until evo to gain experience against wc players. Has been in “top 3” four weeks in a row at Wed Night Fights and has knocked out plenty of phoenixes in the process.

Lets keep it real, most of the East Coast domination was Justin Wong, who has now moved to Cali. I hope EC pulls it out and blows up WC, but let’s not get too full of ourselves until then.
Yeah that’s what the arguements were about back then during the vanilla sf4 days…“EC is all about Justin Wong”…
But guess what happened? Alot of the east coast players ended up making it far into the semi finals…and dont forget what happened to the 5v5 regional exhibitions…it was pretty bad for the west coast.
I’m not saying that east coast is gonna win in marvel, but it’s annoying to see how everyone in this thread is calling the east coast FREE. Just like how they called the east coast free in sf4 before evo but afterwards…they all became humble and speechless after seeing the results.
I will happily show up and say I was wrong - I hope that’s how it goes down because it will be incredibly entertaining to see the underdogs clutch it out.
Or if like, one player on the East Coast manages to take on everyone after his team gets bodied. That would also be amazing.
