Why the hell was marvel of all games single elim? The games usually go by quick ( at less compared to cvs2). Where all the other games single elim too, and is marvel gona be single elim at world?

They likely ran out of time like that one EVO/B-series tournament where the finals had to be modified a bit.
People are overreacting a little bit. Marvel was single elimination for 1 or 2 rounds only. The reason for this is because Smash Bros. took absofuckinglutely forever (I’m talking CvS1 level here), with some matches taking 15 minutes or more to complete, and also because Marvel had the most number of entrants. The Omni was throwing people out at the stroke of midnight so they had to make sure they could squeeze things in on time. Trust me, it’s way better to start at single and then move up to double instead of the other way around where the most important matches are damaged.
It affected the tournament a little bit (I think Genghis and Reset were single elim victims) but it’s not like the tournament was forever ruined. It will be double elim at Worlds. This wasn’t really anyone’s fault, just a problem with time.

…and yea, i think people were making too big a deal about MvC2…even though the early rounds was single elim, it was at least 2/3…imagine having single elim 1 game -
I believe tournament directors chose the idea for Chris S to pick West Coast’s players of his choice (from winning tourney?).
