Also, JWong’s Legendary Stick broke, so he was on a borrowed stick. MAS sticks are incredibly great but sadly not perfect. I saw a variety of people looking for screwdrivers and soldering irons over the course of the weekend. The Dreamcast that was running without a case was top tier.

Moreso what Marvel has become that what it really is. Only recently, after 4 straight years of Wong’s reign, has the Marvel comp become more exciting.
Also take into consideration Justin probably doesn’t play as much marvel exclusively as he use to. Back when he was unbeatable that was pretty much the only game he was known for and played. Now that he plays cvs and 3S just as much, he probably just hasn’t advanced as much as the other people like yipes who exclusively play marvel
He lost his first evo in 2005 because he played yipes msp vs msp. I think after that he got really serious and went back to matrix full time cause matrix is his best team and the best team in the game. So it’s somewhat surprising to see him drop matrix and go to msp.
I’m a not surprised that he went away from matrix, since he lost to yipes in winners using matrix, but why not go to santhrax but he went to msp instead?
I’ve seen vids of chunksta and sanford beating yipes with santhrax but justin wong never uses santhrax against yipes msp.
His msp went 0-2 against yipes before he made some ridiculous comebacks to nearly force a 2nd set.
But Rowtron once told me that I had what it takes to be a top player.
And who said marvel is done for competive play. yipes proves otherwise. like vegitax once said…4 MORE YEARS!!!

What people, and i don’t agree upon is if weather That was Wong’s Best. Personally i think that if Wong had used Thrax, the results would’ve been different atleast to how the wins happenned. However, it is undeniable that Yipes made it to GF in Winners the whole way, with from what my understanding is, MSP THE WHOLE TOURNEY.
what i don’t like at all now, is that Evo GFs for marvel has become 3 outta 5, what happen to the old days of 4 outta 7?

Alas the controversy of the GF will always be “What if Wong played Santhrax?”
From my perspective Wong wanted to win with MSP, no ifs, ands or buts about it.In marvel, respect is given out to players like Yipes where even if their team has a disadvantage vs other Top teams(Santhrax is the only one.) They push themselves to the limit to make it possible. All i can say Good stuff Yipes, better luck next time Wong.

If Justin wanted respect and style points, he wouldn’t be the same guy who turtles his ass off with Chun Li or holds d/b for 99 seconds in a CvS2 match. I seriously doubt he picked MSP for more respect. If he did, well tough luck for him, but he sure the fuck doesn’t ever pick “style points or respect” characters in other games… he’s still won more evos than everyone else combined so he will always be the best. Till he consistently gets beat by people in tournaments… he won’t be considered anything but the best.
