I think 3s is fading in Japan. They have half a dozen new fighters come out every year which make it very old for a game from 2001.

Skill gap is too wide between top us 3s players and average person, but japan makes top us players look like scrubs.
So we can only play games we are better than japan in? I didn’t realize that’s the only reason people played games. If you don’t like the game you don’t like the game, but hopefully you have a reason more valid than our level versus the japanese…since well they beat us in everything.
I guess that means I need to brush up my Mortal Kombat skills.

Us started practicing like crazy, and in 2005 there was a big rematch with a video building mad hype.

past 2 years all foreign competitors get knocked out first round.
taking my post from another thread and adding to it:
top foreign players on par with japanese mid-tiers isnt far fetched at all. im not sure about the rest of the world, but didnt the US teams do fairly well at SBO1 and SBO2, getting at least a couple of wins in each tourney right? ricky and justin took out aruka and dirty music (the best ibuki and an excellent oro) in sbo3. but notice how in sbo4 and sbo5, foreign teams were just destroyed by japanese top/upper tiers.
for some reason, yuns outside of japan just dont seem that strong, minus pyro and now hsien after i saw his mm vs amir. once many players start using the best char in 3s, Yun, more effectively, i think we’ll at least have a shot at cracking japan’s upper tier. i kinda like to think of it this way:
- japans top tiers rule all
- our best top tiers maybe > some jap uppers, mids, and lows
or maybe im full of shit or stupid
