just gonna clear this up too, smash is definitely not money-laden.
Melee is 11 years old. It’s uuh not even half a year younger than CvS2. This new generation.
Let’s get everyone some Smash education: Smash players loved how a Smash game (ANY Smash game) got put in, now generally speaking Brawl is seen as the worse game, ON TOP OF THAT they insisted upon items and basically told the Smash community “it’s in the game so there” (y’know, like gems and Gill and Akuma and Unlimited BB characters etc.) some assholes got angry and fine it happened it’s over, now we’ve got a fair shot at getting whatever game we’d like in there.
What gets me is that MLP is on the list and has absolutely no working build whatsoever that anyone could have practiced on except maybe the beta testers, wasn’t EVO for games people could have actually played in advance?
Meanwhile Project:M gets the cold shoulder DESPITE having a build available for more than a year (that they actually update for the public) and many packed side events and main events, it just seems unbalanced to me.
i don’t think EVO should just be about what’s considered “traditional” fighting games, it should be about fighting games that are truly quality and entertain at the same time. for me, melee is that.
And suddenly I’m interested in Smash…
If people travel to beat the shit out of each other in it and get better and have fun, does it really matter if there’s no lifebars, platforming, etc.
HELL no. Fuck those guys.
MvC2 and AH3 at the same time
Because MVC2 won’t be having a side tourney complete with footage, right?
no one who watches my little pony does
You’re comparing something that has was designed to be in the game from the beginning to playable boss characters that is bonus on console versions of a game. If those said characters were playable on the original version (the arcade version) they would of been playable. Yet you’re trying to say it’s the same thing. Do you see a problem?
No. Most people only played the consoles verisons.
Also, the Smash community doesn’t claim to be playing the game the “correct” way they claim to be playing it the most competitive way.
Getting a real Chris Chan vibe from that video.
Hate to tell you, but there are more players playing ST, 3S, Vsav, Melty Blood, BB, and GG on arcade boards then on consoles.
What?
I don’t know anything about Melty Blood but the rest of the ones you listed have had several home console releases. I find it hard to believe more people would have access to arcade boards of those games than one of the console versions.
Most people playing them seriously find ways to play them on cabs. Even GG, BB, and MB are mainly played on cabs seeing how the japan community outnumbers us.
Real talk if you’re a brony you’re a fucking idiot.
Wordplay.
Calling women you want to have sexual relations with “bitches”.
That’s…That’s cute.
No wait, it’s not, it’s childish, and the sign of emotional immaturity.
I thought most people grew out of that in their late teens.
[S]Out of curiosity, if a company like WB or SONY does go the route of donating (comparatively) massive amounts of money to get their games shown, will the organizers accept those donations at full-value?[/S] It’d be tricky to enforce, but I was just wondering if there had been any official word on the matter.
**EDIT: It has been **confirmed that publishers and developers are not allowed to donate. Proof here: https://twitter.com/ProtomCannon/status/289810385761103872
Another thought: While there are good reasons for not releasing the actual donation totals (mostly to do with maximizing donations), I don’t see any reason why some preliminary amounts couldn’t be released at predefined stages. This could actually help to get even more donations from the supporters of the games that aren’t in the lead without the negative effects of a running total. I think that the people who are calling for numbers to be released might be better off just asking for maybe a release at the half-way point or with one week remaining.
Also as someone else mentioned, I would have liked to have seen another charity used as the target for the donations, simply because there are a ton of charities that do similarly important work but are nowhere near as high-profile as breast cancer and don’t receive nearly as much in ordinary donations. At the same time, it’s going to a good cause and I’m sure that the organizers have their reasons, so I’m certainly not complaining.
I just updated the OP a little bit.
Can anyone suggest any other links I should include?
I also want to compile a list of threads talking about this for different communities.
So far I can only find the one for smash. Anyone know of any others (serious ones)?
