the thread title should be changed to have a question mark at the end of it. without it it gives off the impression that this thread ISNT a waste of space.
I’ve been in this community long enough that everybody plays pretty much all Capcom games and the smash community pretty much has a bigger scene then most of those games listed and melee if kept by the traditional rules would attract alot of attention and get a good outcome for next year’s EVO. Brawl I understand that it’s a new game and people want to keep an open mind but we will see what happens with Brawl at this years EVO.
Oh, you’re right. Here I thought SRK was somehow affiliated with Evo, so the Smash community was worth considering in…not nothing.
I pray to god that brawl gets replaced with another fighter for 09 EVO. Yes, SWF and all major smash communities have in fact boycotted EVO. Let the smash communities run smash and let EVO run the other fighters. No problems.
If Mr.Wizard was actually inclined to make brawl competitive he wouldn’t have used those homo rules, thus close to none of the competitive scene will be there… UNLESS they are already going for SF or other games.
Correction: Nobody is boycotting, and both AZ and I have dissuaded people from doing so.

If EVO wants to ignore the entire competitive Smash community, then why would they expect us to come to their tournaments and play by their rules?
Thats called free market. If you want to go, go. If you don’t, then don’t. But it isn’t called boycotting if you don’t go.

The fact of the matter is that eventually the Brawl circuit for EVO will turn into one of several things:

A giant n00bfest filled with item-users and scrubs.

Professial Smash players will still attend and dominate / place high in rankings, but it won’t be very fun.

Not enough people go, and EVO is forced to drop Brawl.
I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that there are oodles of other things my money and time could be spent on. Things that don’t involve good players losing to nobodies because of a lucky Final Smash or an exploding crate.
Good thing exploding crates are turned off, and you can directly influence whether or not someone both hits with or even gets a final smash!

- Lots of people join and have fun. The top people still place roughly where they are expected to.
Your #2 is the same as my #2. Obviously, “fun” is subjective, but if you were to ask top players today whether or not they thought playing Brawl with the EVO ruleset is fun, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who would think so.
I hate the competitive smash community. I hate it more than I hate Hitler, yeah, the competitive smash community is worse than Hitler.

you’ve never played with the Evo item set, I can tell that right now. there’s a lot more I could say, but that was the most important thing I wanted to get out.
