EVO 3S 5v5 GGPO LEGENDS vs TEAM IRL

Im down to play 3s at evo.

Lol Justin gets beat the fuck down every time he tries to play 3s against real players in the arcade. Team IRL would absolutely destroy team GGPO, especially if this tourney were to take place on an arcade cabinet.

You know very little about this game.

I mean if were going to go out of our way to play 3s, it really shouldn’t be at evo. Small room, small tv, console, sitting on floor or uncomfortable chairs.

We should schedule a meet up at Denjin Arcade some time this year.

I have watched almost every 3s match known to be recorded, Wong is very good, but gets owned by many top Japanese players like I have mentioned before. IMO He is NOWHERE near the top in 3S. Wong is as good as he is because he can play the game basically anytime he wants and he has far better competition consistently at it. Trust me, the better the competition, the better you become. I’m still hoping for some beast American players to move over to Japan, play the 3S gods consistently for years and then become as good as them and destroy everyone else.

he wins just about every 3s tournament he enters in the east coast and almost always makes finals/grand finals in the us scene. what are you talking about?

seems like most of you east coast guys arent hungry enough to beat justin. with the attitude you guys have its like hes unbeatable.

yes hes good but theres a difference between looking up to a player and just straight up jocking someone.

and i know justin is good, but in mios defense i cant think of any 3s tourney justin has won in socal. then again i can only think of a handful of tourneys hes played in socal so i guess well never know.

I vote Vinny over Justin Won for 100

I’d love to play 3s with everyone on this board. :china:

I just want to see the look on team IRL’s faces if they lose to some GGPO player.

The moment would be golden, wake up super would be beautiful.

I find it funny that wong can practically win or reach the grand finals of virtually any american 3rd strike tournament and yet he’s stated in interviews that he doesn’t like 3rd strike and doesn’t even play it anymore. Sure he’ll put in some hours before tournaments but that really says alot about the american scene compared to the japanese. You would basically have to live there maybe spend a decade to reach the level that the japanese players have to have a good chance against them. I’ve heard plenty of times where usa players went to japan to ‘level up’ only to get owned by the japanese in tournaments after all that hard work. No I’m not a weeabo, don’t watch anime and don’t care much for the japanese culture before you start calling a jock strap.

I don’t know what justin wong has to do with this thread. at all. the guys good at fighting game in general. that doesn’t mean other people are absolutely awful at 3s. it just means he’s got qualities that make him good at basically any fighting game. good for him.

what does this have to do with 3s. to be clear i think saying hes bad is stupid but saying hes just sooooo awesome is equally stupid. the guys good, no doubt, but im not even sure he can say best in US. no idea who all he has and hasnt played but there are plenty of good US players. the community is tiny though so you can’t really compare it to japan.

on topic: if such an event as this happens it needs to be recorded as a piece of history.

You clearly know little about what actually happens in Japan. I honestly dunno why I’m biting at your bait but fuck it. I would hate the game too when 100% of his humiliation came from Third Strike. The “Daigo Parry” video easily has MILLIONS of views now, seeing him trying to mash out of the parry is fucking hilarious. Went to Japan and got bodied by Kuroda and co, Kuroda not shaking his hand and over-taunting him mid match is pretty funny too. Just because you see Americans lose in SBO doesn’t mean they don’t place in arcade tournaments in Japan. Pretty sure just last year, the guys joined a Japanese ranbat and I know that Vinny (who you probably don’t know) took out Nuki chun and rom yang got top 8, CLEARLY not free to Japanese players.

I figure it’s really hard to do well in SBO, not only is it single elim, it’s fucking the biggest platform for ThirdStrike, you’re super jet lagged, nervous, anxiety running high, and then you have the ******* already putting them down “YA THE’LL LOSE 1ST ROUND”.

Pyro and co, always do pretty decently in side tournaments in Japan. And as I mentioned earlier, for Justin Wong not liking a game, he really wasted his time learning it, because he gets nothing out of it, 100 bucks a tournament, 2 tournaments a year? 1 being in socal where he’ll never win? Hope he signs your stick at evo.

excellent! the more you delve into the kpop world, the better you become in 3s…

Was actually the SBO 2009 after party tournament, which had pretty much everyone from SBO 2009 entering. And just this past year Ryan’s team got second at the pre SBO tournament at mi-ka-do the day before SBO.

I know Pyro has won at least 1 tournament in Japan.

I know metric is the only one who suggested it, but if people wanted to run some 3s centric tournament this year it could definitely be hosted at Denjin. There’s no plans for another Sunroute Cup this year, but it would be pretty dope to have another tournament just for 3s players this year.

I an understand the hate for wong he’s like the kid who does well in school even though he hates it. Even though he doesnt measure up to the brainy exchange students the other nerds hate on him because they always do their homework and study a hundred times more and still get owned while slacks off and gets higher grades.

tokido never plays 3s and yet he gets to be on teams with KO and shit

it’s cause tokido is a great player

jwong is also good and never play 3s

see what i did there?

I find it funny that nobodies who dont even play this game like to judge other players.

I also find it funny how there are 2 different breeds of noob/scrub/nobodies/youtube posters. ones that absolutely hate justin, and ones that just adore him lol.

also in kurodas defense, it isnt customary to shake hands after matches in jpn. in fact if you tried to do it theyd probably look at you like you were from mars. lol

Another huge tournament just for 3s at Denjin would be much better than anything we can do at Evo. 3s at Evo last year was a sad sight, and there is no reason to believe it will be any better this year.

Yeah its as funny as the many sports analysts who never played a sport profesionally and yet still have valid opinions. Who adores justin here? Certainly not me in fact I thought he came off as being an asshole with the trash talking he’s done in the past. I just simply stated the truth that despite him not playing/hating 3rd strike he still owns and that just goes to show how good the usa scene is. It almost seemed like people where trying to discredit just wong yet if you discredit him your basically dissing 97% of the 3rd strike community.

Hahaha @TheAllMighty you comparing tokido to wong? My argument is that wong just being one of the best shows how much usa has got to do in order to catch up to japan.

Ok let me explain it in simpler terms: By me giving justing wong props I was at the same time putting down the usa scene. Not because I like putting down the usa or upping the japan scene but because I wanted to show how much catching up usa has to do to be on the same level. When wong is arguably good enough to be top 3 in usa and he gets owned by the japanese you know the skill isnt anywhere near japan as a whole. If you think usa is on par or even close to japan your delusional. But hey if you like to be in a fantasy world where america is equal to japan and I’m just a wong fanboy go ahead and pass that shit your smoking.

It’s a perfectly logical comparison. Both are very good players respective to the skill level of their countries yet neither of them play 3S all that much anymore - it’s because they are just very good at fighting games in general. They can still hang with people who even know more about the game than them just because their fundimentals, zoning, the way they get into their opponent’s head, etc etc, are just so good. So pointing out that Justin can still do well in the US really doesn’t say anything bad about the quality of US players.

It does when a rusty Justing wong consistantly beats american players and gets owned by the Japanese players. The difference is Tokido does well against both and please dont use such a stupid comparison again.
