Evo 2015 Could Likely Be Street Fighter IV’s Last Hurrah

I hope this is it for SF4 that game sucks cock. They release a new version every month, pretty pathetic I miss the days where once a game was out it was out and then it developed.

I guess SF4 is also played at a high level but pfft something about the game is so boring.

YES. EVO 2015 was all about USF4, and the matches were all incredible.

I think the SF4 hate and SF5 praise is some kind of butthurt hipster trend for people who just suck at fighting games and think they’ll be the next momochi if capcom “adds more footsies”. You just suck, it’s not magic.

Prediction: SF5 will be the next SFxT. It’ll be praised as “skill based” and “solid” by the FGC hipsters for a few months, then eventually abandoned by the vast majority of normal people. The capcom fanboys who claim SF5 looks better than SF4, also loved SFxT, and these same people will continue to praise SF5 as it dies.

In two years time, you’ll think back to this moment, and want to take back all the time you spent praising it. Another inevitable victory.

You’re kidding right? This is sarcasm, it must be. I’ll respond as if it isn’t though so I can sound like an ass.

Capcom AND Sony will fully support and push their current title by contributing money for prize pools.
You’re not going to see that for SF4 anymore.

All the matches were incredible? Holy shit this is some Stockholm Syndrome shit. People been deluded into thinking watching two players wiggle at opposite sides of the screen while the time counts down to 0 is exciting?

Or when they’re aggressive it’s just the same two methods of approach over and over. There are no footsies because the game is so fucking defensive you can’t actually approach without using a method Capcom specifically developed to allow you to approach lol. Unless your opponent just fucks up. That’s always the sign of a good game, when the match amounts to both players hoping the other fucks up and they can capitalize. So exciting watching both players hope the other mistimes something.

Like SF2, SF2: CE, SF2 Turbo, SSF2 and SSF2T?

Yeah back in the days, shit was much better.

I’d probably drop off if we keep playing SF4. People need to learn to adapt to a new game (which I feel was ultimately the reason SFxT died, people just didn’t want to learn a new game). My problem with Melee players is that they’ve shown that they either can’t or don’t want to adapt to a new system and I don’t want that shit to happen to this community.

Also if the timer would run like in ST, every fucking match in USFIV would time out.
I can’t fucking overstate how much I wished that both of these fucks (Gamerbee and Infiltration) would fucking go pick Akuma and Adon, because their match bored me to tears.

I was less involved into the drama on screen (because it was sleep inducing) and more into the personal drama, because I think Gamerbee is a good guy and I wanted him to win. He made it so hard for me to like him though because of that dumb fucking cunt Elena he was rocking.

SFxT was being praised by FGC guys during pre release builds because the game was actually playing pretty solid. Then the suits stuck their dicks in the soup and decided the game needed shit like gems and a dozen on disc DLC characters, not to mention the fact that between then and release Capcom decided to tack on about twenty more useless ass subsystems like Pandora.

It wasn’t hipsters praising the game, they just jerked the rug out from under us hardcore.

I liked Pandora :c …

What are you TALKING about? The EVO 2015 finals included more footsies than all the SF5 tournaments combined.

I’m not gonna argue with your troll comment, but for the uninitiated: good fighting games allow a wide range of playstyles and tactics. Defensive, aggressive, command grabbers, solid and honest, spazzing out crazy with 50/50’s. Characters in USF4 cover a huge range of playstyles.

In USF4, you can have matches that consist ENTIRELY of honest footsies, and other matches that consist of chaotic gameplay and crazy gambits. In both cases, you need incredible execution and skill to pull off a win, which is why we see the same top 1% dominating the scene. Street Fighter 5 allows much LESS footsies, but is purely based on stale, solid play, because of the reduced speed, no gambits, and redundant ease of whiff punishing.

As for stockholm syndrome, I think someone who has faith in a bankrupt company with a terrible track record, who butchered all of their franchises and recently made a crappy fighting game (SFxT), is the textbook definition of stockholm syndrome.

Lastly, it doesn’t matter if Capcom and Sony put lots of money behind SF5. Other companies have tried that in the past, all they do is kill the successful scene of the predecessor. Two years from now, you’ll see a scene that’s shrinking, and huge alterations to the engine to try and save the game. In the end, it will fail, because the ground idea behind SF5, from the reduced complexity, making everything more basic, animations and terrible character art and animation style, is flawed. Much in the same way SFxT was flawed, and for the same reasons. “Experts” trying to make “reactions and superior play” the only factors in the match, and removing all the fun…err I mean random non-street fighter bullshit, from the game.

SF5 WILL fail, unless the entire game is overhauled from scratch, along with Ken’s face, Ryu’s terrible animations, Birdy’s sloppy animations (chain going throgh necklace), and a bunch of other signs that it’s a rushed piece of dung, and later we’ll see a revival of the USF4 scene or another franchise dominating the scene.

It’s gonna be fun seeing SF4 players being the new “grumpy old men” when SF5 rolls around.

>all of the SF5 tournaments combined

You mean a game that has had seven years to develop has more footsies play than shit that’s not even in fucking beta yet? Well holy shit dude.

i’m really not trolling but you definitely are lol.

why would i love capcom? they left the SF3 generation behind entirely. i don’t love capcom and i certainly don’t love ‘srk’, the ‘fgc’ or whatever you want to call the online community.
i believe sf5 has potential because it isn’t sf4. that’s about it. it’s going to be a fucking mess i’m sure but i’ll hang in there like i did with 4 until it’s 100% clear i don’t find the game that fun.

i played 4 regularly up until some time after super. it was at that point i realized i just didn’t find sf4 that much fun and went back to 3S. i think that’s a fair shake.

you’re acting like a crazy person. sf4 series will survive in side tournaments for a long long time. but it’s not going to be headlining venues…

edit: really hoping sf5 is not sf: divekick…

Ok, thanks for the talk.

#SF5failure

Bring back the classic 3S, or the mean CvS2 generation. Now that we have lots of SF4 kids well grown into the scene, they should look into the more mature fighting games.

SF5 looks okay, I’m honestly not too impressed with it.

Out with the old, in with the new!

As long as our bodies produce salt, and as long as our connection are shit.

Street Fighter 4 will live

I’m just really curious why people don’t think both will be played for a time?

Ultra still has time to develop and grow a bit. Now that we know Ultra is the last update, people can go wild with working out new tech. Hell, all the Elena/Rolento that were on stage was crazy.

IMO it’s just like the super turbo and 3rd Strike situation back in the day. Both should be enjoyed for their different aspects and strengths. This doesn’t have to be like the Tekken scene when the new game immediately invalidates the old.

Because it isn’t the year 2000.

It used to be yeah things didn’t just instantly switch over. But that’s because the only people driving the conversion were the players themselves, there were no spectators.
There was no youtube or twitch or facebook or myspace.
Now there are and that mob has real influence.

Play the new hotness and make some $$. Pretty good deal.
SF4 will survive of course, but it’ll be just like MvC2, 3S, CvS2, etc. Events are held, people attend and compete but the larger ‘FGC’ has really no idea it’s happening because the only people involved bare people who specifically want to play with other fans of those games.

Also I have to wonder how many competitors who are top 32 performers play the game because its THE game and not because of any specific SF4 love.

Too much derp in the game. Viper, Fuerte etc. Along with knockdown, whiff a button, jump in, etc.
With a side order of crouch tech, option selects, etc.

That’s what he’s saying anyway.

I’d imagine most.
